Blimey, will the red shite be half as interested now that they don't need to unsettle him and tap him up.... Go on Brenda - get him, or is it because he is above 5ft 10 that you don't want him cos he may be viewed as an aerial threat when we all know that you were the creator of total football.....so much so that you will keep that chunk of shite borini and sell Andy Carroll to prove it???

If they think that we've brought him along well after a season, and he still wouldn't quite get in their first team, its not beyond the realms of possibility for them to let us Keep him for a second season perhaps?

This lad would be an amazing attacking option for us and i'm truly excited about the possibility.

Would also be amazing if we could build strong ties with Barca moving forward.

I think we are crying out for a second striker or "number 10" personally.

BlueBlood81 reacted to Hafnia in James Gandolfini
Anyone who hasn't taken the time to watch the whole series is missing out, without doubt in my mind the best serious TV i've seen by a mile. The characters and how they are developed is absolutely ground breaking. Its funny, sad, gruesome, gripping, thought provoking, shocking and above all brilliant.

Onto James Gandolfini, as a character Tony Soparano was possibly the most complex, arrogant, greedy, sensitive, callous, sly, smart, calculated, cheating, alpha male who also happened to be a devoted father and at times thoughful husband. How Gandolfini pulled off such a character is a testiment to his acting skills.

Very sad that a man with so much talent and young family died at the age of 51. He's left his imprint though. RIP.

I am with Hafnia on this one, given we have a new manager, I would like to see what he can do to the squad with another £23M or so in this transfer kitty. I am a Fellaini fan, but I would take the £23M at this moment in time if we could. I think the impact Fellini has had for us this season would not actually work so well in a Martinez set up. His profile and stock might just go down next season.

Fellini dropping back as the holding midfeilder would be great - but given the make up our sqaud a £23M holding midfeilder would be a masssive luxury, that in reality would be better spread over the the whole team.

Buying four or five decent £4M to £6m players accross the squad would be a very good move. If you look at the current squad £23M would buy Jelavic (£6M), Mirallas (£5M), Baines (£5M), Gibson (£0,5K) and Jags (£4M), Distan or Heitiinga (£5M). If you take Felleini out of the team, then the top end the squad is made up of £3M to £6M player purchases and a number costing even less.

I know a lot of these player are now worth MORE than the purchase prices quoted. Buy I am talking about is your degree of risk and quality in the transfer market with purchases around the £5M mark.

I saw enough in the 5-6 league games in which Felleini was banned that the team would not capitulate without him in the team, and I think this would be even more the case playing the tactics the new manager is expected to adopt.

I would love a squad full for £20M+ valued players, but that is still a long way away.

However, I actually don't think he will actually move this summer

    - Wenger is a real tight arse and will not cough up the £23M for a player that would actually have to take Arteta's place in the team - he's had a great season for the gunners, so this
    - it's just lazy paper talk about Moyes taking him to Man Utd, I think Moyes has too much class to actually raid his former club for players. I have heard Felleini, Baines, Jagielka, Howard, Mirallas and Barkley are all wanted by Man Utd this summer - really!!! At Man U he will have enough resorces not to have to look back at his former team for players. In the same vain I don't think we are going to see half the wigan team line up in Everton shirts next season. Raiding your former team for players is a lazy option and I think Moyes and Martinez have as little more about them, it actually shows a little lack of forward thinking and ideas to your new employers and fans.
    - I don't think Fellini would want to warm the bench at Chelsea in a World Cup year.

I would have him odds on to be player for Everton next year, I just hope its all agreed quickly.

They are the two I definitly wouldn't want to be honest.

Maloney, as said already because of his age and Kone because he would cost £6.5m and isn't that good.

BlueBlood81 reacted to Hafnia in Martinez confirmed as new manager
The more I think about Martinez being in charge of football matters, the happier I am. In fact i'm ecstatic, he is a footballing man, he knows the game, he's got bottle and he instills a culture in his clubs.

He has some similarities with Moyes, studious, hard working, analytical and thorough, however I believe he leaves Moyes standing in one department - tactics. He is flexible, reacts promptly, has more than one plan.

I was further intrigued by the calibre of player he can attract and what he got rid of to sustain Wigans ability to operate and no go into admin.

Here's some player salaries wigan got rid of:-

£40k+ bracket: - King, Heskey, Bramble, Scharner, NZogbia
£30k bracket:- Melchiot, Kirkland, Koumas, Kapo, Mido, Brown, Palacios, Valencia,
£25k bracket:- De Ridder, Cattermole, Sibierski, Camara

At present their top earners are:-

    £25k Al Habsi
£15-20k Boyce, Alcaraz, Figueroa, McCarthy, McArthur, Caldwell,
all the rest are on under £15k a week averaging approx £11k a week.

In all seriousness anyone who choses to ignore those stats and say "Martinez got Wigan relegated yadda yadda yadda" needs to have a word with themselves. Fellaini and Heitinga earn the same as 6-7 of their top paid players.

And yet when we have played Wigan, they've certainly not looked like a budget sunday league team. I think Martinez is licking his lips at the prospect of working with the likes of Osman, Barkley, Baines, Pienaar, Mirrallas, Gibson, Heitinga, - all technical players who pass the ball well and would fit the bill as the type of player he likes in his style of play.

    exciting times...

I agree with the Oviedo bit but don't think you can accuse moyes of not going for it.

We started with Ross and played most of the second half 4-4-2.
