Wall Writer got a reaction from StevO in Longest Thread! for Everton Discussion
I wrote this at the end of September.
I was hoping to be around the 15 point mark now, and you could say that we are there. Also, those glimpses we were seeing backing then have matured into much better overall performances.
As for whether the season is going to be another long one, it doesn’t seem that way at the moment.
On the basis of the games so far, I think we can realistically be hoping to be top of the league come on the end of the season. Top of the bottom half that is. A solid mid-table 11th is a realistic target I think for us this season.
We still need to improve but I think the potential is there.
We really shouldn’t be anywhere near the relegation battle this year; we’re a much better team this season than we have been recently.

I think it’s a bit harsh to say he doesn’t give a shit about the club, the amount of money he’s thrown at it, the new stadium.
I think it’s more likely that he’s just had enough. He’s blatantly failed in many regards and I suspect now he just wants out. Especially with Kenwright gone.
But I think everyone is fine with that. We realise he’s took us as far as he can. Admittedly, league wise we’ve gone backwards but the stadium is a huge thing.
But like you said, with a new stadium we’re prime for investment. And as for 777, my position is what other option do we have? Maybe they will end up fleecing us but we need to do something and new owners are not easy to come by.
I'm resigned to seeing how it all plays out because what else is there to do? Protest? I think that will neither help or change our situation.

Defintely - no positional sense, terrible at sensing any danger whatsoever. Two attributes I think we all crave in a centre half...

I believe “they” were the alumni of the esteemed Universities of Twitter and Facebook.  Offering virology crash courses where they studied badly spelt conspiracy theories and passed them as fact.

Godfrey got covid before the vaccine roll out for his age group and to my knowledge he would not have been eligible for an earlier one.
Here’s the facts, covid as we know causes a severe inflammatory reaction  across the bodies organs. The heart being one of them - it was identified before the vaccines were created that in Italy and China 1 in 5 patients who had been infected ended up with heart damage.

but never let the facts get in the way of people who spent their adolescent years skipping school and later years telling the world that brilliant intelligence doctors and scientists are talking shite.

I was thinking recently that he seems to have filled out a bit (in a good way); so maybe there’s some truth in that.

At the game the weekend I got some information on Mykolenko and why he seems to have upped his game this season.
there were fears he couldn’t play for the full 90 minutes.
so Everton’s sports scientists asked him to write down everything he ate for a full week when they studied what he was eating it turned out he wasn’t eating the right foods and not enough.
turns out he was 40% deficient in Protein so they gave him the right diet to eat and Mykolenko said I can’t eat all that but he has had to co operate and looks like he’s gone from strength to strength.
at last it looks like we have a sports scientist who knows what he’s doing.
    im very pleased with that.

No, not whatever. That kind of bullshit is exactly why we had and have such issues and continues to lead to preventable deaths. If you want to make wild statements like that, please provide some evidence.

To be fair you are not the first and won’t be the last to pigeonhole Dyche as some sort of latter day Tony Pullis but the fact remains none of us know whether or not he has the ability to evolve his tactics with the team
He had nine years at Burnley where he wasn’t afforded the luxury of trying to play more expansive football due to the financial restrictions he was working under and did an excellent job there
He has come here and is arguably operating under even tighter restrictions and he has succeeded in getting a tune out of a squad that many more illustrious manages failed dramatically to
So personally I think he has earned the right to try and take us forward

the biggest flaw I see in your argument is that you assume that if you stick Klopp or Postecogle in charge of this Everton squad it would mean you instantly get Liverpool and Spurs - it would be pretty far from it. In Klopps first season in charge of Liverpool I beleive they went backward 2 places in the league. That would see us relegated. We have NO margin for error.
The players in this sqaud are best set up for being solid out of possession, playing a big man upfront, getting crosses in or hitting teams on the counter attack.
Why, for the sake of it, put a manager in with a totally different playing style if you don't have money to solidly back him over two or three transfer windows to bring in 4-6 quality player to allow you to safely change the playing philosophy of a sqaud. We don't have the money to do this or have the luxury of being able to afford losing 2-3 places in the Premier league as this new style beds in.
We need to become a solid mid table team first, get the new owners bedded in, stadium finished and our revenue streams all sorted first, before we should really be concerning oursevles massivly about having a manager who favours progressive football over effective football.

I feel with Dyche the potential to get back to being one of the clubs in and around the European spots is there (given time and assuming proper investment in players etc.).
Whether he’s capable of taking us higher is still a doubt for me, but we are way off that anyway. I’d much rather see us stabilised over the next couple of seasons than chop and change too soon and end up back at square one.
At the moment progress is being made. Once progress stops being made, I think that’s the time to make a change. Obviously, in the meantime we should have course have targets in mind and contingency plans ready.

I want us to see us win everything mate.
Firstly, I don't think many expected Eddie Howe to do such a good job with Newcastle but he has. There are certain things about Dyche that piss me off tactically but I also understand reason behind why he makes some of his decisions.

I agree but I think we need to have a solid foundation & I am not sure we will have that by the end of next year. I think we need to identify a clear direction in the style of which we play & consistently recruit both players & managers that will compliment that. If we finish this season 14th and then the next say 10th under Dyche, I think it would be mad to move him on based on that however I would also expect us to have a shortlist of managers who are deemed suitable to come in at anytime (now included) to progress us further.

After the last 5 years I'm genuinely shocked how many supporters seem to want Dyche gone. This is first time in heavens knows how long that I feel like there's a plan for recruitment, there's a genuinely good squad to choose from, the wage bill is representative of where we sit in terms of current quality, and our trajectory is upwards.

And I agree. But before we can look at sailing a ship, you need time to plug the holes and get it steady. I keep saying 2 seasons are a minimum, largely for the obvious stability and the benefits that brings, but also because the really good things he's achieving are basically stamina and work rate. If he goes sooner, I fear that these positive steps will be lost as we've seen so often before and not really had since Moyes.
How long do you think he should be given, out of curiosity?

I was good to see the lad rewarded. pretty much made that goal himself.
just the sort of thing that will hopefully see his confidence increase, making a positive impact from the bench.

Hi assist for Youngs goal on Wednesday was brilliant, I thought he had run himself in to a dead end, no he created a the goal that sealed the win. You could see how much it meant to him.
We still, need to see improvement in his game from him which should come with increased game time.

Great result. Not arsed about the cup cos we know.....but absolutely chuffed to see us getting better and better. There'll still be ups and downs but we're definitely on the way up.
One thought.... I think Beto needs to play more - but not for the reason that we are poorer without him - I feel he still needs to get accustomed to the pace and physicality of the English game. Great assist from him, but I feel he may be one of those who we don't see the best of until his second season.
