best weekend of my life. my son was born (watched the game with me), and everton win 3-0. such a great effort by the lads, baines my MOTM, wonderful passing and movement of the ball up the field, he can be our english Lahm for sure! McCarthy and Barry were spot on and straight up outplayed Arteta and Flamini. Sorry to see Osman go, but happy with Barkley!

Now, beyond doubt, it is in our hands.

It matters not what Arsenal do, only what we do.

No more small club punching above our weight mentality.

We Believe. We Belong. We are Everton.

    I went with Barkley.

I had Baines, McCarthy and Lukaku in my head...with a bit of Naisy.

But Barkley stood out for me. He looked at his best today. Touches, passing, strength, effort.

Really hard to pick though. This was the most complete team performance we have had for a while.

    Awesome. Absolutely awesome.

    Brilliant all round performance.

The best bit for me is that if we wanted to we could have stuck another few into them.

Now the hard bit...how do you pick a MOTM from that? I've got 3 or 4 names in my head!!!!

Fair play to Arteta for not celebrating his goal today!

Lets be honest, no real fan is going to be unhappy if we finish 5th, thats almost a definate for me.

So there is nothing wrong with being hugely optimistic about being able to finish 4th. Some may not want to admit we have a chance for fear of being dissapointed if it doesnt come off...but as long as we remember we are outsiders, then we can enjoy the ride! Its just brilliant that we are pushing for it, and that as fans we are talking about it!

As for certain players being key etc, we'll all have our own views, my view is that 14 players are key in this run in...from front to back. They all have to be on game.

    Good detailed fight back there.

I award this one to Nik...I dont watch anywhere near enough football to match that knowledge.

Dont turn this into another personal attack thread Cotto, you seem to go down that route when your backs against the wall.

Its been a good debate, but between the 3 of us I think we have expired our views! Lets leave the room and let others play.

Its too much for us. Putting all our eggs in one basket and all that.

Doesnt mean I dont rate him etc etc...its just a lot of money for mostly 'potential'.

It makes you feel real optimistic about the future though doesnt it? It takes more than one season to bring in a full culture change. So the progress made has been top notch.

Im not getting all wet knickered about being league title contenders or anything. But I am about the fact that in another year or two we will have a more 'school of science' culture running right through to the kids set up. The youth will get their chance, a proper chance. Having money helps short term, but the right culture through the club beats spunking stupid millions and sacking managers every other year (and their staff too!). It might not seem as exciting when you cant spunk 30mill on each player...but at least we wont have a club full of mercenaries.

We havent yet seen the best of what is coming our way. That thought does make me man wee a bit.

Cant wait for the 'other' era to be forgotten and we can concentrate purely on 'now'. May take a couple of years, but you's will get there. I believe that.

Honestly, dont give a damn what arsenals fixtures are. Neither will Martinez. Its all about what we do.

Liverpool have been immense recently...down to that attacking quartet.

Defensively, pretty poor. Thats why they wont win the league.

    City for me....thank fuck.

(And this will be a wonder season for pool, a flash in the pan. Back to reality next season with suarez gone and stevie in a zimmer frame).

    John Stones.

Yes, Naisy came on and helped get the win.

But Stones was there from KO, and looked absolutely brilliant both on and off the ball. Forget RB son, CB must be for you.

Think Martinez will go for experience against Arsenal. So Jags and Distin.

But Stones has been brilliant. He'll be first choice before long.
