The only way to keep it short and sweet is to rank the players out of 10; 1 - A Turd Burger & 10 - Outstanding Your ranking is up to you but i'd like the final scores to be based on your thoughts, over the following criteria. Performances from the start of the season Natural ability Effectiveness in games Importance to first team Potential Ability to perform in weaker positions etc. Base your scores on what you've seen so far and where you think that may change come the end of the season. For example, at present (taking everything into account) Kone would be a 4. However, based on his return from a long layoff and the promising things I saw in his last few outings, I wouldn't be surprised (if kept fit) he'd get a 6/7. To identify that, i’v included the symbol ‘^’ or shift 6 for English keyboards (not sure on others). ^ - Indicates they have at least 1 increase rating in them before the season ends ^^ - Indicates they have at least 2 increased rating in them before the season ends ^^^ - Indicates they have at least 3 increased rating in them before the season ends You don't need to explain why you gave the marks, that's your opinion and many have expressed it already one way or another, this was a quick way to summarise all those thoughts and for me, an interesting overview on the difference of opinion. So to start, here's the squad, my rankings and where I think (hope) they'll change. First Team (If all fit): Howard – 4 ^ Coleman – 6 ^^ Jagielka – 5 ^ Stones – 8 ^ Baines – 6 ^^ Besic – 7 ^ McCarthy – 8 ^ Barkley – 7 ^^ Mirallas – 8 ^ Naismith - 8 ^ Lukaku – 6 ^^^ Average team rating is 6.6, which is about right based on the season so far. Not great but not terrible, better than steady. Maybe one of our more mathematically minded members if they get a spare bit of time can tally up and get a forum average etc on the players and draw up a league table then do another one in May and see where it's at then. I never read the op properly <hangs head in shame> Edit... Fixed it. I done my ^ on what I believe a player playing to his true potential would be not because I think he'll get better as I can't predict that. Hope that's right and as you can probably tell I've atill not read it properly. Sorry Ten I'm not disrespecting your post there mate I'm juat one of those people who jump the gun when I'm eager to do something if I like the idea. To show a potential rise in overall ratings, so Lukaku – 6 ^^^ that says to me that I think his worth at present is a 6, but he should be operating at a 9. He is our first team striker, young, has ability, not using it all yet, has been lazy. If he was on full steam his rating would be a 9, with a rise of ^ to make him a 10. At present though, he's not doing enough so far to warrant that. The ^ was also just a way to indicate a rise.
