Memmaclub
WHAT AM I MISSING????? yes Barkley loses the ball sometimes yes he is risky......... but Naismith does all this without the creativity.
MC11
I like Naismith but you can't have 11 "workmen" in your side.
Memmaclub
apparently you can if your scared of losing.
Matt
Barkley needed time out of the limelight because he was either being played out of position or playing shite or beginning to believe his own hype. Naismith is reliable, scores goals and works his ass off from the front which is something we desperately need. Ideally, we need both of them in the line up. Romey 1878
i thought martinez would have gone with barkley today. So did I. I thought today's game was absolutely ideal for him and putting him in today would've given him a massive confidence boost. Matt
Matt
You can't play them both.thats why I said ideally. And you could play them both if Barkley played box to box, but only if he sorted out his concentration
Blue 250
We're obviously not coaching the mistakes out of Barkley, so let him play and make a few clangers, Gerrard passed a few into the crowd today. We NEED Barkley to become a regular, friggin fast.
Blueherts
Because on the pitch at least, Naismith is our captain. What he lacks in creativity, he makes up for with passion. Right now, we need passion.

Blueherts
As much as I agree, we don't have them. A leader and no spark is better than no leader and no spark.
Newty82
On form, it would be Barkley ahead of Naismith with proper wingers each side and Lukaku ahead. Naismith offers something different and is very useful. But for what we need right now, it's an on song Barkley over an on song Naismith. markjazzbassist
Barkley for me. Naisy popped a few in months ago but he doesn't link up or pass well and isn't a good dribbler. Ideally if someone is played out of position it's naisy since he's a workman and will do a job no matter where you stick him.
EFC-Paul
You can't deny Naismith is a very solid workhorse who has a knack at bagging a goal or two but he's a very limited footballer bar finishing who will never be the type to turn a game on its head whereas Barkley on his day can and will Depends on the type of game but Barkley would start everytime for me over Naismith unless he's out of form and needs to be rested or dropped
Peter H
We really need someone like Naismith on the pitch. He wins headers, he chases players down, he is annoying, he is passionate, he scores the odd goal, he pushes himself around, he picks the odd fight, he screams, he spits. Etc etc. On the other hand, we need an in for Barkley with his passing, shooting and running at the opposition, creating danger etc. Id like to see both on the pitch but neither on the wing. Barkley instead of Barry would be ideal because we need both McCarthy and Besic.
Btay
The answer is to drop Barry and play barkley instead. Of the three Besic/McCarthy/Barry, Barry is meant to be the passer and creator but he isn't doing it. Play Naisy as a false 9 with 2 wide strikers in Rom/Kev and tell the full back to get on! Paddock
thats why I said ideally. And you could play them both if Barkley played box to box, but only if he sorted out his concentration Naismiths a big game player I think that's why he played him. He scores goals against the "big " sides. This season he's scored against Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U andMan City. Last season was the same.. Winner against Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool etc. Not saying he was right to pick him but I can see why he did. He scores important goals against the bigger (hate using that phrase but you get me) sides.

Damn naisy, way to have brass balls.
Shukes
Naisy is the experts player. It's easy to see why he gets a starting position. Take yesterday...He was involved in their penalty area and the minutes later getting an important header in ours. He chases down and scared the shit out of their defenders as they had to make desicion. He tackles hard and winds up the opposition. He is an Everton player. Shukes
Though if the crowd would let Barkley play and stop trying to destroy him he will be a top top player.
