c1982 Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 This needs a thread. Just watching us vs Portugal. Decent game so far. Portugal look a decent attacking team but we've had a few decent passages. Garbutt looks his usual impressive self and Challobah has shown a decent range in his passing. Kane none existent so far. 0-0 after 30mins. Quote
Ten Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Butland looking unimpressive again. Bastard knocked Stones out too. Really like Redmond though. Close by Kane. Quote
c1982 Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 It'll be interesting to see how Redmond does this season - looks a really good player. Quote
Romey 1878 Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Doesn't surprise me in the slightest that Kane had been anonymous. I like Redmond too. Would've liked is to have got him. Quote
c1982 Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 Ward Prowse has a wand of a right foot. Kane came into it a bit towards the end of the 1st - I don't like Spurs but hope Kane fulfils his early promise. England could sure do with what he promises to be. Quote
c1982 Posted June 18, 2015 Author Report Posted June 18, 2015 The Portugal no.10 (Bernardo Silva) looks quality. Plays for Monaco. Rafa Silva, who we've been linked to, is sat on the bench. Quote
Peter H Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 England were unimpressive to be honest. First game in the group was better. (Sweden vs Italy) tough group, 3 good teams and Sweden who likes to upset bigger teams Quote
Peter H Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 England -Sweden today at 16.00 BST. I think England will win this one Quote
Paddock Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 It's fathers day here Pete, most of us are asleep after a massive sunday lunch and half a bottle of red wine inside us. The rest are in the pub. What score is it? Quote
Bill Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 0-0 theres only 12 minutes gone. Garbutts playing, Stones is not. Quote
MikeO Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Looks like we've nicked it; Lingard on 85 minutes. Ironically "Lingard" sounds more Swedish than English. Quote
Paddock Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 We needed it, we'd of been out virtually had we not won here. Quote
Paddock Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Lucky lucky England. I never watched it were we thst bad? Quote
Peter H Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 I never watched it were we thst bad? Lets just say that England did not look like a team worth 5 times as much as the Swedish team. Quote
Romey 1878 Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Lets just say that England did not look like a team worth 5 times as much as the Swedish team. You mean the £40m Harry Kane may not actually be as good as some think? Blow me down with a fucking feather! Matt 1 Quote
johnh Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 According to BBC stats Sweden had 50% of their goal attempts 'on target'. England had 20%. (3). Quote
Paddock Posted June 21, 2015 Report Posted June 21, 2015 Sweden traditionally are very strong at under 21 lever aren't they though? Quote
c1982 Posted June 21, 2015 Author Report Posted June 21, 2015 Lets just say that England did not look like a team worth 5 times as much as the Swedish team. I think that's a fair statement but at the same time England showed more intent overall and I would say we just about deserved it for this (I'm sure you'll see that as England bias). Quote
c1982 Posted June 21, 2015 Author Report Posted June 21, 2015 According to BBC stats Sweden had 50% of their goal attempts 'on target'. England had 20%. (3). We had 2 or 3 clear chances which didn't end up on target, notably Kane and Hughes in the 1st half. Quote
Peter H Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 We had 2 or 3 clear chances which didn't end up on target, notably Kane and Hughes in the 1st half. those chances were good. Kanes header was awesome. Shame he didnt get it on target, would have been a cracking goal. Sweden also had a few good attempts, attempt wise it was an eaven game imo. But sure, England looked like they had more quality but that was also due to Sweden trying to lure England further up the pitch so that they could get a chance or two on the break. Apart from the two attempts before half time, England never looked that dangerous. I thought Sweden defended really well. Quote
Hafnia Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 I personally think most of the players are tired, have one eye on going to let off steam on holiday and really aren't too bothered, just go through the motions. Pretty much like the senior International team at a world cup. International football really has become a joke. Matt 1 Quote

markjazzbassist Posted June 22, 2015 Report Posted June 22, 2015 International football really has become a joke. For England it has, but I see many other nations playing with pride and giving it their all. The cops America has been great and Argentina don't look like they are "looking to holiday". The immense pressure and overhyped nature of your side is its downfall. Expecting a sub par side to be phenomenal is stupid, yet England expects and demands and then derides its side. Ten 1 Quote

No one wants it bad enough to put themselves in a position where they will give their team mate a dressing down. Its all very chummy. We need a few strong personalities in there. markjazzbassist and Ten 2 Quote
MikeO Posted June 24, 2015 Report Posted June 24, 2015 Stones starting tonight as well as Garbutt; I might even watch. Quote
c1982 Posted June 24, 2015 Author Report Posted June 24, 2015 Not going well - 2-0 Italy. I blame Ings for missing a clear chance at 0-0 - bloody kopites! Quote
