Why are people thinking Martinez won't want to utilize Baines in the same way that he's been so effective? Why does Baines apparently not fit into Martinez's "style"? Martinez referred to him as a fucking "Everton icon" last week. And I wouldn't wager that Martinez is someone to take a single gameplan and implement it aimlessly. He's not an idiot. With a player like Baines, I think you'd hold onto him and see what you can get out of him first, even if he doesn't fit your "style".

He's only played two full seasons and in that time has improved, not to be rude but honestly have you actually watched many of Birmingham's games? to label him as not being an intelligent footballer is harsh and makes me wonder if you actually have seen much of him.
 
Don't get me wrong he's no footballing genius but name me many wingers that are? He's not a lynch pin creative midfielder his job is to beat players and create chances which for the most part he does.

Either we get somebody for the future, or we splash the cash (har har har) on somebody with a guaranteed 20 goals in them. Kone isn't worth any of the prices quoted to us. I don't think he's shite. Just think that he would need to be in an entirely different contract situation to be feasible for us to sign.

You're high. McCarthy and possibly McManaman are basically the only ones worthy of consideration. I'd be alright with Kone for depth. But, we've got depth at striker. We need a starting striker more than anything. Kone isn't worthy.

He won't be leaving for 10mil. That's insulting, really. Doubly so, if it actually did come from United. If I were Baines, I'd be blowing my nose at that. And, if I were Baines, I'd have a much larger nose.

I can only see this going very well or very poorly. So, I'll be shitting myself for the next few months, waiting to see just how we play under him.
