I said before the World Cup that if they were thinking of pulling the trigger then it should have been done after the Bournemouth game, it would be ludicrously poor management to have wasted those 6 weeks to then only give Lampard a couple of games to turn it round before then sacking him anyway ……. So I suspect he will be gone by Monday

I can’t be anymore confused by what I’m reading.

Relegation is in no way a good thing for Everton.
Relegation is the single worst thing that can happen to the club on the pitch.
    Relegation offers no benefits whatsoever.
Relegation offers the possibility of the club being financially damaged beyond anything we’ve seen before, especially during a £500m stadium build.
Relegation offers the threat of Everton not being a top tier club for decades, especially while other clubs with good investment and a good strategy solidify their places in the Premier League.

If you sit in your seat at Goodison Park every week, spend thousands each year watching the team, pour all of your emotions into every goal we score, and you think we can benefit from going down, let’s talk about it. Convince me I’m wrong here. But I’ll start the conversation; I’m not wrong.

Thanks Shukes definitely see where you're coming from now and I 1000% agree with you on the high press. We're just defining work rate differently I suppose. I wouldn't say any of the players you mentioned (Son is best example and I know the shite has quite a few hard workers) give their all every match. Many have large stretches where they're complete passengers. But this is where we agree on the high press. A good one hides so many of your other flaws and allows players to rest at certain points in the match. As I know you would I'd also love to see us adapt a high press and really challenge teams physically and Frank is trying but it's hard to press with unathletic dogshit. Speaking of that's the other part of your post we're on the same page. The players you mentioned are naturally gifted athletes. We only have a few those.
I don't think it's particularly popular because we're desperate for success after so many years of tough sledding and more recently relegation battles, but when you look at our recruitment in 17/18 (I'm a huge believer Everton is the only club who could have survived this long), 18/19 and 19/20 it's nothing short of an absolute miracle we're still in the league. For 3 straight years the team got worse on the field, more expensive and had no sell-on value. A club our size, no matter how rich the owner, can't do that. And I know I'm completely beating a dead horse right now and mostly off-topic from where we started above I just can't say it enough. I'm completely done with this game where we pile on a manager after a year and get him sacked (Benitez excluded, the rat). We signed Maupay as a backup to DCL, not expecting to need him for large stretches, not because Frank or Kevin or anyone on the staff thought he was good. The whole world can see he's not. He's the best we could do in our current situation. I have absolutely 0 faith in Moshiri and Kenwright to run the club. I have some faith that Frank and Kevin can improve the team and academy enough to make us a worthy investment for some other rich dude. Maybe, just maybe, the next rich dude will be more competent. Until that day comes I'll be supporting this club with everything I've got and expecting a relegation battle at all times. COYB.

I don't want relegation, but there is an element of truth that it may be slightly easier to build a team and playing style in a lower league. Bar the top 6 teams, there is now a cigarette paper between battling 7th and 8th or being in a relegation battle (just look at West Ham and Leiceter city, Newcastle and Fulham).
We have a weak squad offensively with DCL and Richarlison no being available to Lampard, and our problem has been not scoring goals.
The midfield is in a massive stage of transition, with our eggs is an Onana sized basket. Having just turned 21 this young lad needs a bit of time. Unfortunately Garner has taken a knock so not really got to see him, but he will also need a a bit time.
The word 'patience' was pretty much used by every single one of us about Lampard managing at the club, but not even half way through a season lots of fans seem to have already lost them already. No manager has much of a chance at this club, if the fans lose 'patience' with him and any new young players he brings to the club (another thing lots of people have wanted to see happen)
A fair period of time, with a couple or three windows is was is really needed.

Agreed. I agree Lampard isn't doing well enough to show he deserves the time and to oversee the rebuild because what are we building toward? But he's also been dealt a bad hand we didn't have a striker going into the season, they sold our best player and replaced with average squad players . Then you look at catastrophic Benitez hire,  the financial hole we are in that necessitated a cost cutting exercise that has stripped the team from creativity and goals(Richy, James, Sig, Digne, Bernard all gone), the utter abysmal commercial performance, the only positive from Moshiri is the stadium. We won't move forward properly with this endemic mismanagement from above we need a new owner and new board look at teams like Brighton and Brentford even their organisation is producing results because they have a clear setup and scouting system. We have a mess. It's no coincidence we have had seven managers in as many years they aren't all bad it's the management from above that doesn't help, the common factor in our decline is the board and owner. We have to hope we can scrape up despite them and then get new owners once we are in BMD. I am very saddened by the shell of irrelevance the club has become.

I don’t think we’re on a different era of football at all.
    I think Everton maybe.

Im in the modern era where work rate destroys teams. Watch the teams at the top and you will easily see they have players who get stuck in, players who don’t give up on lost causes, players who fight for the ball.

I honestly rarely come back from a match, sit on the coach and have a discussion of how we gave it our all…. And should be proud of ourselves.
And funnily enough….. no one else on the coach seems to be saying it either, or the stands for that matter.

In fact, there was a resounding Boo at full time after Wolves, to go with the boos at half time.

Bit unfair. Never questioned whether Coady, Tarkowski, Mykolenko, Mina, Godfrey, Seamus, Iwobi, McNeil and Townsend have given everything. Most of the others it's a moment or two of laziness/lack of awareness. Quality is our problem not effort. While we haven't necessarily improved our results this year's squad is the most industrious in quite a few seasons.

Maupay is complete garbage but he puts in more effort than Kean, Tosun, King etc. Dele was a passenger. Gomes couldn't run anymore. Gbamin was a traffic cone. Walcott was useless. Bernard tried his best but was significantly too small.

Funny, I feel like a large section of this message board (probably myself included) thought ourselves too good for Howe. Now Howe is flying high and we're the ones who are desperate.

Saved legs in what is a tight schedule, in a cup competition that we aren't going to win and serves nothing more than a distraction from the league. Not arsed one bit about us going out, and of course we now have a better chance in the "real" fixture.
Would love to be able to compete on all fronts, but we're not good enough as a club to do so.

Must win on the weekend to validate it. I think most the players today have justified that they are not good enough for this club bar a few. ( mainly the younger ones )
