Little to spend and we need a decent squad, for me Young is sound.
Really? I mean as an emergency option maybe but you can’t tell me one of the young fullbacks in the development squads couldn’t do the same job. The only difference is one of the young players could be worth something after 10-15 premier league appearances.
The really bad mistakes he makes aren’t age related, they are just brain farts which a player with his experience should not be making. A 20 year old on debut might play that square ball but we would say he is inexperienced & hope he learns from it. No excuse from Young today & not the first terrible mistake.

I’ve just watched the second half now - what a shame for a really dogged performance to end with a goal like that.
That mistake from Young was pathetic, all half he didn’t stop the cross or get tight to his man. This will continue on next year, even more so. He is not good enough for this league any more, I can understand another year as an emergency player but in no way should he be near the starting team.

my goal for him, as mentioned earlier, would be to make Goodison the toughest place most teams find to come and play. Its only this very last part of the season in which we have consistently been winning home games. I would love to see that continue in to next season. Dyche's general play etc works very well away, so away results have looked after themselves this seaon.
I want lots of blood, sweat, and cheers it what we all hope will be a special final season a Goodison.
I think we all need to be realistic with our expectations during this period of FFP uncertainty. Keep us in the league whilst building a strong foundation of a team - it will be no easy feat if we continue to have to sell our best asset. Hopefully once the stadium is finished & we have some funds available to add to the team we can build on a solid team to push into the top half & onwards.

He's had 2 seasons to show us though and nothing has changed. Not 1 thing he does better now than when he arrived.
He has definitely regressed with his surging runs. I think he is pretty tidy in all other aspects but I really want to see him get the ball & drive forward (in the right moments).

Brereton-Diaz certainly won't have a relegation release clause because he's a Villarreal player.
Oh shit I thought they signed him…

Seeing as the relegation places are pretty much confirmed they would be the first teams to look at as who we could recruit.
Luton
Ross Barkley, obviously the best candidate & would add quality to our midfield.
Alfie Doughty - 8 assists this year from LB in a relegated team is a great effort. We need depth at LB & he is a good option pending price / loan availability.
Burnley
Wilson Odobert - 19 yr old winger who is actually decently quick. Looked promising when I’ve seen him play but he will need time to develop.
Sheffield United
Ben Brereton Diaz - 6 goals / 1 assist in 13 games is a solid return. Would certainly have a relegation clause in his contract. Good option in that second striker role.
Out of contract players - Gana, Gomes, Doucoure, Coleman, Young, Longeran, Harrison & Danjuma.
Keep - Gana, Coleman, 1 of Gomes or Doucoure (only if wages are reduced drastically & rotation player) & Harrison (loan only if no other wingers are available)
Provisional Squad
GK - Pickford, Virginia, ???
LB - Myko, Doughty
CB - Tarks, Branthwaite, Godfrey, Keane (sell Holgate 5m)
RB ???, Patto, Coleman
CM - Garner, Barkley, Ndidi, Gana (sell Onana)
CAM - Brereton, Gomes/Doucoure(?)
LW - McNeil, Dobbin
RW - Harrison(?), Odobert
ST - DCL, Chermiti, Beto

@Hafnia for legal for me. If I ever needed to pick someone on here to argue on behalf he’s the first guy I’m calling! (This is meant as compliment Haf)

I saw something that Timmy Cahill who is very involved in football in Qatar is trying to convince some of their wealthy businessmen to buy Everton.
We need something however 777 is not the answer, clearly

When the offer was first made, there were rumours of concerns but nothing as specific as we're now seeing. He's doing the right thing to pull out, at this point, and I'm sure he's been having side conversations with other potential buyers. He's no fool. (Again, as I've written before, I've met the guy in Russia, and he came across to me as very savvy.)
Met the guy as in met Moshiri?
At the end of the day he is the man at the top, this has dragged on far too long & the reports about 777 are damaging to our brand.
I respect him for building the stadium but he is doing that on Klarna. He never had the money to fully invest in a football team with out Usmanov.
Under his watch he crippled this club financially because he wanted to play football manager. The bloke should have downloaded steam on his pc instead of buying an actual club.

Man Moshiri is just a consistent cluster fuck & it’s a serious concern how long this has all dragged on.

They do still need replacing though. Those players being gone and not being replaced highlighted how threadbare our squad is in terms of numbers.
They may not be needed to be replaced position-wise, but we need the numbers there.
I agree mate, with the players we have going out of contract we might have to keep Maupay around…
13 hours ago, patto said:He’s had plenty of time to do his homework so shouldn’t be a problem if he’s any good.
Except he could be going in to a bidding war with far less to spend than those around him. We are going to have to play the loan market well here.

Our situation is whoever leaves we have to replace and add a couple more.
Unless it’s Holgate or Maupay.
This will be a massive window for Thelwell. It is no small job to finish the window with a squad competent in quality & depth.

The time for us to sign Adams has passed unless we have a striker leaving.
I agree on this.
We need pacey wingers before another striker.

Too many injury concerns with Ndidi for me but we need about 5 free transfers.
He’s played 65 games the last 2 seasons….
2 hours ago, StevO said:If we could move on Onana and Gomes, then replace with Ndidi and Barkley I’d be quite happy.
This is what I’ve been saying. If we can get good money for Onana & Gomes huge salary off the books whilst replacing with 2 free midfielders, great business.

He’s out for a minimum of 6 weeks after surgery has been avoided. Be touch and go with the Euros I would imagine.
When i saw it i winced in pain as it looked similar to how I did my ankle just over 2 months ago... I still have about 4-5 weeks of rehab & shockwave therapy, plus 2 completely ruptured ligaments.
For him to come back on the pitch until half time after that, he is all heart! -

I’ve always maintained that we wouldn’t go down and have always said the 3 to go down would be Sheffield, Burnley, and Luton, and the 3 that come up next season will be the same 3 that go down. But that doesn’t in any way make me feel any better we have been absolutely terrible this season, and if people believe that the mark of a good season is too avoid relegation then crack on, but for me I’ve been embarrassed at some of the football we’ve played and won’t be looking at this season or last as a success.
I agree about the style of football but I feel for Dyche a bit on that front. Doucoure is somewhat effective in this system to grind out results however as soon as we start playing any sort of football through him it breaks down.
I really hope Thewell has found some gems in the market for next year, we desperately need to add 4+ good quality players.

Not a whole lot to say about the game really. It went pretty much as I expected it to tbh - I thought it'd be boring and we'd not be as intense as we were on Wednesday because that game will have taken a lot out of us both physically and mentally. I thought Dyche might have made changes in midfield because of that and I was quite surprised he didn't bring Onana in.
We ground out the win though and now we can relax.
That’s how I feel, I’m delighted about the result & the fact we have secured another season in the prem.
I found myself after going 1-0 urging Dyche to go a bit more expansive, which I now feel was a bit greedy as there was a job to be done still.
Chermiti absolute stellar effort from the lad, deserved a goal for effort alone.

Echo this. Ultimately it was refreshing to enjoy the last few games of the season without the cloud of relegation.
Todays game showed there’s some fight in the team to put in that kind of shift.
If we deal with the off field distractions that we had this season any of the last 2 seasons we get relegated comfortably. Unfortunately we will have at least 1 more season to fight through but I truly believe we can do it as long as we stick together.
Credit to the players, the managment but also the fans who’s patience & support is outstanding.
