DownUnderToff got a reaction from Matt in Summer Transfer Window
I'd add a new, starting, holding mid to that. I'm assuming PSG, or similar, come back in for Gueye and I'd expect Besic to go. Would love it if one/both of Beni and Williams could step up.

Youri Tielemans apparantly a target for Leicester. Should be on that!

30 year old, average, Russian league striker...yes please!

DownUnderToff reacted to Bailey in Richarlison
No I dont im afraid. I can see that DCL won 6 and Richarlison 3 (Tosun 0) but it doesnt tell me off how many attempts. It will be somewhere just not sure where yet.

DownUnderToff got a reaction from Matt in Michy Batshuayi
We'd be silly to pay £40m for a player no one else wants, except on loan. Half would be pushing it.
plus... he's been bang average in Spain, and only had 1/0.5 good year in Germany. He did manage to score a few off the bench for Chelsea, but still way too pricey at 40m.

DownUnderToff reacted to StevO in Weirdness Abounds (or the Idrissa Gana Gueye Thread)
I can’t be the only one thinking that when Gana is supposedly out of position, chasing the ball down all over the pitch, that he is following instructions to try to win the ball back high up the pitch? Following his managers tactics, doing the job he has been given, and not just leaving a space behind him for no reason at all?

Yes. Play DCL every match let him learn and grow.

For a player who has already played 30-odd Premier League games I would have liked to see him go to a EPL team, however I know that this is probably not possible and playing in the championship is certainly better than him playing no competative football at all. Best of luck to him, hopefully he can return in the summer and prove a point pre season.

Mods
possible to step in? Even the match day thread is being turned into a Gana watch.
Just flicked through most of this as it’s going down the same route.
Please guys... watch Everton and not just try to prove a point, it’s getting boring.

Probably been our best player, offered attacking impetus and made good interceptions.

I like Gana, think he's very good at his role. ...but realistically, he's 29 and we're going to need to replace him in the next 2-3 years anyway. If we can turn him into £35m+ before then, we absolutely should. The stated 20m is laughable though.
There will be replacements out there, Brands just needs to work his magic. That Salzburg lad (Samassekou?) or Denis Zakaria spring to mind.

Terrible move for a loan to the SPL.
If it’s not a loan to a PL side, I’d like to see him loaned in Spain where he could hone his technical ability or Germany which is proving a great place for developing young talent at the moment.

He did well enough, first go round, in the championship, he's better than rangers/spl. Time to really challenge him.
Lower prem and Huddersfield I reckon, let him fight off relegation. They're down their creative mid, in Mooy until at least the end of Jan, and short in that area regardless. Wagner likes possession based football as well.

DownUnderToff got a reaction from wolf8312 in Manchester City (Away) Saturday December 15th
I understand what you're saying @wolf8312, but saying (in hindsight) the tactics didn't work doesn't have to be a manager Witch Hunt. Just that something was tried, didn't work, and you move on. Silva is still a young (for a coach) and learning, he'll make some mistakes and that's ok.
We're playing so much better, and more attractive, than last year, having been far more organised at the back as well. Kudos Silva and Brands.
Against Man City, 5 at the back and conceding the midfield clearly didn't work. We had one (clear-cut and fluffed) opportunity in the first half, that's just flat out not creating enough and a big part of that has to be down to the structure. They had far too much time on the ball, able to shift the play and pick passes at will. Getting some balance back in the midfield allowed us to at least get forward a bit more...so we could fluff more chances.

DownUnderToff reacted to nogs in Manchester City (Away) Saturday December 15th
<Wolf - there's no real surprise we lost to the best team in the league, but the truth is City weren't quite on it and we had a chance to take something from the game. The decision to play 3 at the back was wrong and guess what, we defended poorly. We created some great chances, but we've not been clinical enough all season. It's not the one point v Liverpool and Man City that hurts us. It's the draws v Newcastle and Watford. Got to face facts, form has dipped and it's on the manager to find an answer.

Craig Bellamy was talking in the studio about how highly he rates him, he was saying that it’s hard when your a sub then get one game as a starter then back as a sub. He needs game time. I’m a big fan of Bernard but on current form Lookman needs to start over him and Walcott

DownUnderToff got a reaction from Shukes in Nikola Vlasic
Don't agree with that. He would have mostly sat on the bench or played occasionally out wide, never getting a real chance to press his case. Vlasic is showing the benefit of regular, competitive, first team football.
We need to get as many of the, non playing, kids out on loan as possible.

PS: I tried putting just the apostrophe after isn't (and left off the "t"), and it didn't give me the double tts. Strange.

DownUnderToff reacted to MikeO in Ellis Simms
Can't find a thread on him but this seventeen year old lad we got from City last year is banging them in for the under 18's, 18 in ten games so far! A goal every 48 mins. Ably supported by Kieran Phillips (12 in 11) and the team not too shabby either by the look of it.
