nyblue23 reacted to Aidan in Leeds (Away) 30th August
Leeds have hardly looked a threat and we've created some good opportunities and look comfortable. Not too concerned about how much of the ball we have at the minute.

Conspiracy theory..... rejected because we're holding out for transfer deadline day, so we don't have time to spend the money. Blue Bill pockets the 50-60m and runs off into the sunset, digs up the Arteta money from the map he drew on the back of a Everton hospitality suite napkin and opens a broadway theatrical based no the original Z Cars show.

I mean when you’re paying 71 million, I imagine both clubs want that to go pretty quickly.

Just been browsing a Brighton forum to see what they think and they've quoted you on there and said...
"This one has hit the nail on the head though for me, and why I will miss Neal"

Newcastle can kind of do what they want - no FFP to worry about for at least two or three years, and have the richest owners in world football - we have to watch every penny we spend at the moment.

His strike rate is what 1 in 4? Different type of striker to DCL, established in the premier.
If he can come in at £15 mil and get even 8-10 goals this season, it would be huge for us.
Not a sexy signing but I’m on balance for it.

Maybe some fans need to get a reminder of what good old graft and attitude looks like in a side. We’ve missed characters like this.
surely the gylfi, Gomes, Schneiderlein, walcotts glamour signings haven’t been enough to scare people off from supposed top players.

nyblue23 reacted to StevO in Neal Maupay
I agree with this.
If we have DCL, Maupay and Brereton-Díaz we would actually have options.

Spot on, we need to walk before we can run. This is the type of signing that should help us get to being a solid mid table team (footballing wise and financially wise) we need to be doing this before we have grand designs on mixing it with those in the top half of the table.
I think it's a sensible signing this summer. Has plenty of premiership experience, does score goals and is solid and a grafter out of position. isn't breaking the bank.

The amount of negativity around this transfer baffles me. It’s like some people think we’re an attractive proposition. We’re not. We’re a club that players and agent know has been run into the ground. Last season was an utter shambles and then we sold our best player. We’re shopping in Lidl because we don’t know where the nearest Waitrose is.
If anyone watched us last season and thinks we should be buying top level talent, go and see your GP or your optician. Something isn’t right.
This is what happens when your club is starting again from the beginning, and we have to live with it for a while.

He will 100% be a cult hero here as he is a master of the dark arts - he’ll get in the opposition’s faces and wind them up - from experience that really gets Goodison going. Yes, he’ll need to score a few but his effort and general shithousery will endear him to the fans.

We need a striker of his type. Do we want another big hold up striker like Calvert Lewyn? Yes as a squad player.
But we also need a plan B striker, someone who can come on and totally change the style. Maupay could be a very good signing for us.

I’m actually ok with this, he’s an absolute pain in the arse for opposing defences, a bit of a Tim Cahill mentality.
There’s not a lot out there and if the numbers are good then I think this lad could be alright.

nyblue23 reacted to Romey 1878 in Neal Maupay
He's better, much better, than Rondon.
Usually I'm not one to be happy with signing someone just because they're better than the shite we already have, but when that shite is Rondon and goals are what keep you in the league then I'm in.
I think he'll be decent for us but I do hope there's another coming too.

Honestly I'm so depressed at how miserable the last year has been with this club and the fact we don't have a striker, I'll take this.
Am I thrilled by this signing? Absolutely not in the slightest. Is he a striker, and have some people have been joking (or have they?) about putting Keane up top for us? Yes. So get him in.

With you on that. Fernandes told me in La Tasca he was signing for Everton the night before he fucked off to Valencia.
It’s not done until it’s done.

The silence now deafening on this transfer.
Starting to get the feeling they we’ve managed to Everton this one right up.
Will be glad to be proved wrong.

Yet another missed call by Pawson, nearly all going Chelsea’s way.

But do we get that pen at the other end that's the question you need to ask yourself. Those fouls happen countless times a week in the box and the vast majority are not given as penalties.

I like his attitude, looks like he's been part of the club forever.

Still, a soft pen following Pawson giving away a free kick after Sterling literally fell over without contact. We can’t fucking win. Godfrey only injured because the linesman didn’t call the ball out of play when it was clearly out. This shit gets so tiring sometimes.
