Worth noting that when they say they have outgrown him they are almost surely talking about as a primary striker. He isn’t being brought to Everton for that so it’s not really a reflection of where either team is.

He had a couple of those. Exciting to see. That was a subtle ball in to give Gray an opportunity. Great to have guys that can turn and run into that space. I dunno that we will get Kudus but he also looks excellent at that. There is a video asking if you should even press him.

Yeah he has some moments for sure. Was it him that played that clever little ball that gave the chance Gray fumbled?

Very safe today, which is understandable. Just gonna take time to build league experience and confidence. The 2-3 times he decided to be positive you could see the potential.

Well he’s a midfielder. Shouldn’t expect double figure goals from any midfielder really. 
 
Like Onana he looks to have some tantalizing upside. I’ll be disappointed if we can’t get this one through.

The thing I worry most about is that he’s just not physically up for it. He needs to keep improving his body. Towards the end of last season he wore down badly to the point he was played less. When asked to play striker he was pretty easily bullied out of the game. I think the desire is there but adding some muscle (and he should) would improve all aspects of his game. Richie wasn’t huge either but he’s strong enough to hold position and really make himself a handful to deal with.

I guess he would be brought for the potential.
We can’t afford to buy top players, and if we had the money… can’t attract them as a club. So we need to be able to bring in players that have the potential to turn into top players.

I think that shows you what a good deal it is. Chelsea is allegedly paying pretty close to the best case scenario price. He would need to develop quite a bit in many areas to be worth that sort of money.
 
Personally I think 30m is even a bit generous for what his game is right now. It’s always far more likely a player like Gordon never realizes his full potential. 

Excellent bit of skill to beat a man and showed serious pace down the wing to create their goal in the cup. Derby fans in the comments seem to rate him. Hope he keeps it up. Looks a real live wire & gets his head up to spot team mates early.

From a business perspective it would be a very good move. Perception, not so much. Also, if we are bringing in a replacement I imagine we’d want to play them. 

60m is an insane price for Gordon even if some add-ons won’t be met. It’s possible he will be worth that one day but I think the odds are against. You’ve gotta be banging in 10+ every year from the wing to be worth that and/or be a wizard crossing the ball.  We haven’t seen anything to this point to suggest he has that. It could develop but not many get to that level. 

We were never getting a like for like replacement for Richarlison. In the same way we didn’t for Lukaku. The idea is you use the money to improve your team in a variety of other positions and overall you get better. Whether that happens remains to be seen but we shouldn’t be upset we didn’t sign a 60m winger as that wouldn’t have been best for the team even if it was possible.

Not with isolated skills. For instance the confidence and technical ability in taking that volley off the bounce for his goal vs PSV  is impressive in any league. 

Given his injury and his lack of game time at higher levels he might be too far away from their lineup at the moment. He will want more minutes  and they will want to see more from him. Let’s be honest, if he progresses they might just be able to buy him in 2-3 years

I know it’s crazy, we’ve spent all our time and resources on just one player pffff! 

I hope this means that the Omens are Good for us not signing Januzaj, and that the American Gods are smiling down on us while keeping the Sandman at bay.

A good adaptation if you’re a fan of the graphic novel. Hard to even complain about the changes as they are largely coming from Gaiman himself.

I think they can play a similar role especially if Gueye comes. Iwobi being ahead of Dele is my point.

For all his promise, right now he’s not very productive. He is also not a great defensive or hold up player at this point. He might be more exciting than a lot of players we might bring in but I don’t think it would be difficult to find that production.
