With the form of Mina I don't think Silva can even hide behind that one. Zouma hasn't been missed. For me it's not the players that aren't good enough, it's the tactics they just don't cause enough problems. Teams are happy to sit and let us have the ball as they know we're not gonna cause their keeper too much trouble.

Yep. Means they are in the hunt first though. I'm pretty depressed by the rumour that Silva has been kept on because Kenwright and Moshiri don't agree on what to do next. That spells massive trouble for me. I'd rather both were kept well out of it. Brands has been given a place on the board - for me next manager should be his pick, otherwise what's the point of having a DoF with such a senior position at the club?

Personally I don’t think he could put a stamp on an envelope.

Frustrated me yesterday, on a couple of occasions he could have crossed the ball first time but decided to take a touch and got closed down, a bit like the rest of the team really

The penalty was shocking but it's the way we responded to it that is worse, our heads went down and we looked like a team of kids that had just been told off. The Delph substitute was a mistake, I can see what Silva was trying to do, but it just slowed everything down and we kind of lost our shape. We should be beating teams like Brighton but instead we've conceded three goals to a team that struggle to score.

Lose in this one and he should be sacked.
                          Pickford's
    Sidibe  Keane  Holgate/Mina  Digne
                Davies  Gomes  Delph
        Richarlison        DCL         Iwobi
I know Silva won't but I would like to see this team with Davies and Delph covering the full backs when they go forward and Gomes dictating the game.

Seems you only have to have one good game nowadays to get an England call up. Look at that young United defender, I hadn't even heard of him before Monday night and now he's in the squad. How many good players from the 80s and 90s didn't even get a look in because the competition for places was that strong.

For the first time in my life I didn't look forward or enjoy going to Goodison  and that includes the dark days of the mid 90s.

There's no way Liverpool will get kicked out, probably just a fine. Their tie against Arsenal is the biggest tie of the round and will make the EFL and Sky a lot of money in sponsorship and advertising.

Schneiderlin for me, he broke up a lot of City's attacks and actually moved the ball forward quickly and not just a short 5/10 yard ball, at one point he intercepted a City pass and hit an inch perfect 50 yard ball to Richarlison on the right wing.

The reason we beat the good teams at Goodison last season is that we are a good counter attacking team. Arsenal, Chelsea and United had chances against us because they had enough of the ball and wanted to attack us. We hit them on the break and did it well. It’s the same way Leicester won the league, teams weren’t scared to attack them so they could counter, the second season people started to sit back because they were scared of them on the counter. Teams are scared of us on the counter. Look at the Wolves game, when they came at us we could break.

The downside to that is let us have the ball and we can’t counter attack. The same reason that we struggle against weaker opposition is because they sit back and let us have the ball. We then just play it out wide, cross into the box and centre halves can deal with it. The Sheffield United game was a perfect example, crosses into the box and they just cleared them.

The challenge for Marco is to find a way to create chances when there are ten men behind the ball, do that and we have a chance. If not, we need to find someone who can. The problem is there aren’t many tried and tested managers who have been successful with possession based football who we can get.

Winning the trophy means... you’ve won the trophy! One that the club hasn’t won before and the first of any trophy since 1995. Nothing more and nothing less.

I went to pick my boy up from a scouts weekend last week in ormskirk. I used to to work in Southport twenty years ago so went a similar route. I forgot what a run down shit hole the whole place is along the docks. Forget about the ground for a minute. What it will for do for Liverpool as a city is just unreal. Plus what we are doing with Goodison aswell. Spurs have been lauded with their new ground and fair play. They have a cheese room. That’s what a billion pounds get you. I’m joking of course but they’ve done nothing around the area and it’s still a twat to get to the ground. I know we aren’t happy about the capacity at the minute but let’s think about the bigger picture and allow ourselves to think of this comes off. We truly are a special club

That’s not what it’s about for me. It’s another game to go to, another day out, another trip to Wembley.
If we get to Europa, it’s a chance for a trip away with the lads or my dad to watch the blues.
I’d love nothing more than a trophy, that’s what the game is about, and making memories while you’re there.
We might never make the top four, so enjoy the ride trying to get there.
Picking up any trophy helps the club grow, and enjoying playing European football is a good thing regardless of which tier for me.

We've been down the road with young up coming strikers they rarely ever come good especially when there is no good senior striker to learn from, for me get Costa in and let the likes of DCL and Tosun learn from a master how to lead the line terrorise defenders and score goals.
