Well I was informed that a rat was found at Anfield....................it's been agreed that the players and staff of liverpool fc will wear tee-shirts in support of the rat at their next home game.

great result for us but Moyes totally astounded me with his subs -
where is his tactical skill and strategic capabillities ?
leaving Neville on the pitch just acting as a midwife the whole time and then bringing on Mr Average Naismith and Mr Ancient Hitzelsberger instead of Velios , Barkly and Duffy needs some serious explanation -
if i was Velios and the other youg players i would be urgently looking for a new employer because my current one does not think i am good enough to play against a 4th league side when we are 4-1 up -
sorry Mr Moyes you have just lost a few further points in my estimation of you as a top notch coach -
we waisted time in the 2nd half playing the long ball and just passing the ball backwards instead of letting our young guns loose on them at full speed - Mr Moyes and our defense better wake up if they want to compete against the best

Only two things I'm disappointed about are the lack of Barkley/Duffy/Vellios and not keeping a clean sheet. Otherwise well done boys.

Surreal substitutions tonight. Disappointed that Barkley or Vellios didn't get a run out. 4-1 up and you're controlling the game, give them game time!!

Marouane Fellaini will miss Everton's Christmas fixture schedule after being retrospectively charged with violent conduct by the FA following Saturday's game at Stoke City. The player and the Club have accepted the charge and the 25-year-old will be suspended for three games against West Ham, Wigan and Chelsea...

I know its a bit of a kick in the balls for the team. Without a doubt the lad deserves it. However, I feel that Fellaini has prevented play going through to Jelavic this season which is why he has been off form lately. Hopefully, it will help enable Jelly to rediscover his form for the Toffees, so although it is a big loss, by no means is it a major crisis.

This sort of thing (Mirror in this case) is annoying the shit out of me...

Leon Osman Neat and tidy. Got better as his debut went along. But, at 31 years of age, it's hard to see Osman getting to the World Cup in two years' time. Rating: 7

Gerrard is older, but I see no journos saying...

"Hard to see him in Rio at his age...."

Surely if you're good enough you're young enough?

Droobie reacted to Dalziel Kane in Can we win the league?
I have a lot of time for Motson as a commentator and analysist and he's had decades of experience and did narrate our official club history film release, but you can't read too much into what was said. I remember back in the summer of 1996 after the Newcastle win at home on the opening day of the season, that Lynam and his panelists that night said we were dark horses for the league title. It was nearer a relegation battle and two embarrassments in the cup tourneys and we lost our manager before end of season.

Some significant difference also between 'winning the league' and grabbing a fourth place finish.

Once again, and just for some closure on this, we won't win the league, can't win the league, the best I feel will be the last champions league place like seven years ago or most likely a UEFA cup place.

And there will always be those who want to see the club get these places rather than an actual trophy won. That's all very well and good, and you can appreciate that thinking, but next year will be our 18th year since a last trophy won, and I want to see the club win something again. These league finishes are very commendable but as always, you don't get any trophies for a UEFA cup or even Champions League place.

We've been away far too long for an honor won or any kind of trophy, and I merely want to see that rectified sometime soon. Soccer is a results business, and if you're not motivated to win any trophy, then what's the point of going out to play.

Agree with most of what's said on here, and just want to emphasize that Gueye needs selling. He's just not got it. Sure he can crack a volley once every 15 matches, but I don't think he offers anything else whatsoever. Doesn't pass well, can't defend or tackle, never seems aware when he's about to be challenged and his touch always seems to bobble and make him vulnerable to a challenge. Oviedo looked so much better on the left when he came on, and the right completely died when Gueye switched over.

I'm disappointed with a point. We've been in decent form, Liverpool in poor form, it was at Goodison, and they had a young and inexperienced side out. We should've found a way to get 3 from that.

Droobie reacted to rubecula in How did Liverpool become the bigger club?
I think the whole thing can actually come down to one name, Bill Shankley. Popular with the press and charismatic, and a pretty good manager. He set it in motion.

Mind you they also carry the name of the city which may have some sort of effect. I am not sure. And as Matt says they have a lot of honours that we don't. YET

Neville plays dirty - in a smart way though. Uses his experience to knock players off the ball which is what we need in the midfield. Unfortunately his distribution hasn't been as 'smart'. DM is player loyal and will usually stick to the same team - Phil being captain will always feature.
