tzp7zy got a reaction from Bailey in WHERES BILLY?
I suspect that its more to do with our new Communications Director, Alan Myers, having his finger on the media pulse a bit better than previous incumbents.
Notice how Roberto is getting air time on TV and things like Everton in the Community getting plenty of media coverage, including from the PM.
It's all part of having a coherent comms strategy that seems to be being implemented successfully.
Which after all, is about time and very welcome cos we have been pretty good at giving it both barrels in our own feet from time to time.

tzp7zy got a reaction from Sibdane in Martinez won't last the season
I've lost count of the number of Man U fans complaining to me about Moyes defensive substitutions trying to protect a lead. They expect to be going on and killing teams off. Made me smile

'RM is unpredictable and I love it' - come on admit it, nobody else would have thought of putting Gerard on for Bainesy - it just shows a really refreshing mindset and approach to trying to win games. Maybe a result of some of the frustrations of the Palace game, but proves he is prepared to gamble in an effort to win games.
    To be applauded.

tzp7zy got a reaction from Quinn31 in Victor Anichebe (Confirmed exit)
Unfortunately, I don't think Vic is going to do it. He reminds me of Shola Ameobi or Carlton Cole in that they really should be good enough but always seem to come up just short at this level.
I'd love for him to prove me wrong this season.

tzp7zy reacted to Cornish Steve in 3-4 players wanted, but who are your choices?
I'd put a different spin on this:

    - Baines is staying
    - Fellaini is staying
    - Barkley and Stones are ready for the big leagues
    - Three new players brought in
    - One new player on loan

Even without additional transfer activity, this looks good.

tzp7zy got a reaction from Matt in Fellaini & Baines joint bid
Fact is Man U can offer £1 or £100m, its their prerogative and I wouldn't be upset by it.

Another fact is that it's our prerogative to decline the offer if it doesn't match our valuation.

I'd be more interested to know who leaked the story to the press as the bids were made last week and by coming out now could be an attempt to unsettle the players.

tzp7zy got a reaction from marcus jones in Shane Duffy
I think if Martinez thought he was ready now he wouldn't need to send him on loan for a season but I agree he needs more than reserve football. It seems that Stones has also jumped ahead of him in the pecking order but with Heitinga likely to go and Distin's age, there could be opportunities for him on the future if he goes on loan, gets plenty of game time and shows the necessary improvement.

tzp7zy got a reaction from Sibdane in Michael Bradley
What I read is that you can't compare De Rossi with Bradley because they play different roles in the team.
So the only real conclusion he came to is that Bradley offers significantly better value because he costs a lot less.

A few useful pointers to help people from going into overdrive about this

    1. Moyes does not own Man Utd he is an employee

    2. Moyes does not pay for any player transfers out of his own pocket

    3. Moyes probably doesnt even get involved in any negotiations over the fee

David Moyes gave 10 good years to this football club and did a great job while he was here and for that he deserves respect. I just dont get all the contempt for him over a few tabloid transfer rumours even if there is any truth in them. Man Utd get linked with both players every window and it is always way below their value. This was happening long before Moyes was Man Utd manager

Is Roberto a wanker because Everton are being linked with Mcarthy for £12M when Wigan want £20M

Personally I couldnt care less how Man Utd get on this season , I liked Moyes when he was our manager and I still respect him now but he has gone and so I have moved on , others could do well to do the same

tzp7zy got a reaction from chicagoblue in Antolín Alcaraz
I think the point is that we'll likely go to a back 3 so we'll need additional cover to be able to accommodate that formation, plus this guy already is already well versed in Martinez's tactical formations.
For free, seems like a no-brainer (esp if Heits goes for a decent fee).

tzp7zy got a reaction from StevO in Martinez confirmed as new manager
I think he will have expected to be a sure thing for the Everton job and now he's having to work for it - which is no bad thing for the club. It shows our credentials as a big step up from Wigan.
No doubt he'll be disappointed if he doesn't get it but there'll be plenty of offers for him. Something like 75% of PL managers moved in the past year!

And if he doesn't get it, more power to Everton who have identified a better candidate.

Because its a bookmaker who reported the news, so you go onto their website and lay a bet on somebody who actually isn't just about to be confirmed as the new manager!

    Soz guys, didn't spot that.

I've been to baseball in the US and enjoyed the experience much like I enjoy the experience at other sports - cricket, golf, ice hockey etc.

But nothing compares to football for sheer tribalism and excitement.

I'm fed up with this nonsense that kids don't get a chance at Everton.
    Its bollocks.
Our U21's and academy is full of players who chose Everton because we're renowned for developing good young players. Even if ultimately they don't make it into the 1st team they have a better than average chance of going on to have decent career at another club in the lower leagues.

Some people should accept that just because they're told Barkley is a world beater that doesn't mean they know better than people who watch the players in training every day. Same for Duffy, Vellios, Junior etc. Maybe somebody who knows more about footy than you doesn't think these players are ready?!?

Look at how well Villa have done with a young team - no thanks!

The only upside to Moyes leaving is it's a great opportunity for a new manager to make the most of the players at the club, bring in a couple of quality players, fresh ideas and fresh impetus.
    Here's hoping.

tzp7zy got a reaction from Matt in David Moyes - sign or go ?
Presumably stumping up some cash in this window is our attempt to keep him and demonstrate we'll try to match his ambition for a couple of more seasons yet

tzp7zy got a reaction from Sibdane in Ross Barkley
Ossie didn't even make his debut until he was 21. Like Barkley he had a bad injury that set him back a year and then he had spells with Carlisle (in the 3rd tier) and Derby County (in the 2nd tier) and then started to get onto the bench for the first team.
I know we're hopeful that Ross will be the next big thing but there is no need to rush him. Let him develop at his pace and then we can reap the rewards.

TBF I don't think any manager's would want to be taking their teams all around the world at this stage of pre-season to play in some meaningless friendlies - ref: Man U, City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea.
It's not a football decision, it's about satisfying sponsors and globalisation of their brand.
