He's not a winger and that was the position he was expected to play (as he has been over and over again) - I'd like to see the positive runs through the middle. I've seen enough to believe he could be a very good centre forward for us.

I thought Mccarthy was head and shoulders above everybody. The lad is a freak! breaking play up with his long stride time and time again.But when he gets the ball its just as good he wastes nothing. I was staggered by his work rate today. £12 million? he is worth double that easy. Coleman was excellent don't get me wrong but McCarthy is my new man crush .

As much as it would pain me to see them win the title I'm taking the view that if it happens then it validates Martinez as the right manager for Everton. It will serve as proof in the methods that he is instilling in the club and serve as an indication to players that we are on the right track.
 
He was Fenway's first choice and he decieded to pass. If that is what Rogers can do then it is unlimited what Martinez can be done in years two and three of his project.

I don't get the hype with Januzai, think he's overhyped after 1-2 decent performances but I think I'm missing something.

Just for the record, Arsenal, and Man United got battered against the same Liverpool team. We drew 1-1 with Arsenal at the Emirates and were outstanding (nah forget that game, pick the one where we lost a completely flattering scoreline and could have actually won the game)....

You go on to state that Roberto has had a good season on a negative net spend because he sold one of Moyes players??? Isn't that what Moyes did in finishing 4th when we sold Rooney for £28m?
 
So you can say Martinez has performed well with Moyes old players??? I disagree, relative to the time spent Martinez has been regularly using Barry, McCarthy, Lukaku, Deulofeu, Stones, Barkley, Oviedo - over 50% of a starting 11 that Moyes didn't use (yeah notice Barkley, Ovideo and Stones)

Don't really think he's ever tried to be a number 10 type anyway has he? seem's a different sort of player imo, more of a support man from midfield. Spraying the ball around is not his thing, he's not a Mata or Silva, it's something we are really lacking imo.

Sherwood comes across as another pardew - just far too impressed with himself.

I don't think it's depth we lack, it's quality: actual, game-changing talent. Like Liverpool do have with Suarez and Sturridge and Coutinho to a lesser extent perhaps. A centre forward and a winger at least. After this game I'd say an upgrade on Barry might be a good idea too, though that might be a bit of a knee-jerk reaction given his fine season so far.

That made me laugh far more than it should have done.

Gareth Barry is actually the only integral part of our team that is a loanee. Lukaku has had a good start to the season but I think that he has become more of a liability because of his touch constantly giving the ball away.
 
The ball has got to stick with the striker that is a basic of centre forward play.
