Inca85 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 http://www.dixies60.com/2010/08/09/crouch-in-yak-out/ Nononono!! I'd rather keep Yakubu! Quote
London Blue Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Rumour has it he is pool bound, cant think of a better place for him. I'd rather have bret angel than that bambi no mark Quote
peoman7 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 i would take him, he was undervalued at Liverpool and class at Pompey with defoe. He is a very good player the only sticking point is he is a ex-red and wages. Quote
Romey 1878 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Just when we were starting to get rid of the hoofball! It'd return in full measure if we got him, s it's a BIG no from me. Quote
adamsmith69 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 A big yes for me, i have also heard he is back to Anfield, however he is hugely underrated as a footballer, he is probably better on the deck than he is in the air. Would welcome him at goodison. Quote
jamiemaher85 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Wages would be the issue for me. He's used to large wage packets now and I wouldn't be interested in paying those figures to him. He'd do a job for us but I don't think it's a logical move at all. Plus he costs money and we have been told countless times that we have none so it's a non starter at the moment Quote
Peter H Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 How many are saying no because he is an ex Liverpool player? Id have him. He is a great asset to any squad. Quote
paulcat1988 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Yes please, think he is talented footballer, good on the deck and great airiel threat. Would add something different to our pacey strike force. Quote
marcopaulo Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 i'd probably say no for the same reason as romey Quote
Ian C Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) I'd take him in a heartbeat. You can play all the pretty football you like with all the deep lying forwards and false 9's that you can find but unless you've got someone who can regularly score goals then you're not going to progress. Crouch has a proven goalscoring record and offers us a completely different option. I think Wolfsburg was a reminder of how we struggle to score goals if we're not dominating. Crouch can score from nothing as well as providing us an outlet ball when teams play a high pressure defence, because sometimes you just can't pass it around teams. The only team in the world that can be sure they're able to pass it on the floor all the time is Barcelona. It wouldn't be a return to the 'hoof it up to Ferguson' days because we've got a midfield full of players who love ball to feet and who love being involved in the play. Pienaar and Arteta scream for the ball constantly and they wouldn't stop that. Likewise Coleman and Baines wouldn't suddenly stop being such naturally attacking full-backs. And EDIT: We'd be unstoppable from corners too Fellaini, Cahill, Crouch.... Edited August 9, 2010 by Grarghsies Quote
Romey 1878 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) Crouch is crap in the air though Ian. So he offers us pretty much zero in terms of something different. Edited August 9, 2010 by Romey 1878 Quote
Ian C Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Don't think he's crap in the air really. His heading ability is not as good as you'd expect but he can still knock it down and hold it up like you would want him too. Quote

His heading ability is not as good as you'd expect but he can still knock it down and hold it up like you would want him too. Well I think he's shocking in the air; I actually find myself laughing at his heading ability most of the time. Having Crouch upfront is like a red rag to a bull to Distin, no thanks. Quote
Ian C Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Distin's got decent distribution. I'd be more worried about Jagielka Quote
Romey 1878 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Distin's got decent distribution. I'd be more worried about Jagielka You can't have watched him very much then. Think Yobo and you're on the right track. I agree about Jags though, he'd do the same thing. Quote
Ian C Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 You can't have watched him very much then. Think Yobo and you're on the right track. I agree about Jags though, he'd do the same thing. I watch every Everton game mate, you know that Distin's distribution is directly proportional to our form. If we're playing well he passes it short, if we're playing shite he passes it long. Unfortunately we have nobody for them to aim at when we do need to hoof. Saha is seemingly incapable of being a target man for more than 15 minutes of every match before he gets bored and drops into midfield. Quote
marcopaulo Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 crouch is far better with his feet than he is in the air..it would be nice to have that something different but as romey says the second we have a tall fella upfront distin/jags/yobo will just lump it unlike heitinga who likes to cross field it Quote
Romey 1878 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I watch every Everton game mate, you know that Unfortunately we have nobody for them to aim at when we do need to hoof. Saha is seemingly incapable of being a target man for more than 15 minutes of every match before he gets bored and drops into midfield. Even with Crouch we still have no one to aim for. He is no good in the air so he won't win the flick ons. He's great on the floor, but our centre-backs, who I'm sorry to say are thick as pig shit (apart from Heitinga), will just see a beanpole and hoof it. Quote
Bailey Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 Well I think he's shocking in the air; I actually find myself laughing at his heading ability most of the time. Having Crouch upfront is like a red rag to a bull to Distin, no thanks. Spot on Imo... Id much rather stick Vic upfront with his strength and aeriel ability than pay Crouch shit loads to sit on the bench and do a similar thing for 20mins towards the end. Quote
tint Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) Ew. The only thing good about Crouch is watching him run around. Easily one of the funniest looking men in EPL. And talent is limited. Doesn't make much sense to me. Edited August 9, 2010 by tint Quote
Finn balor Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I think Crouch is very effective and underated in a 4-4-2 but as a lone striker fuckin no way. I shudder when i think of "Diaganol Dave Unsworths" long balls expecting Dunc to score from 18 yards with his head. Which is what Jsgs,Dystin would immediately look for. Quote

Wall Writer Posted August 23, 2010 Report Posted August 23, 2010 (edited) I think Crouchy is a pretty decent player, and is someone who will score goals for whatever team he's in (mainly due to his sheer height). I just wouldn't like to see him in exchange for Peinaar, and more so, if it meant we were just going to be hoofing balls forward looking for flick ons and knock downs. I'd prefer a (slightly) shorter striker with a bit of strength and pace, someone like an on-form Yakuba. (But that seems about as likely as Hodgson phoning Moyesy and saying "I've got this Spanish kid here, he's really good, will score goals, but I thought you could use him more than us, so, 'ere ya go, have him"). Peter H Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 According to pavljutjenkos agent oleg artemov, crouch will be sold. Everton is one of the clubs interested. (star, so probably a bunch of bollocks) Quote
codders78 Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 From the Guardian rumour mill Everton are eyeing Peter Crouch. However they don't have any money. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/04/transfer-rumours-gary-cahill-liverpool Is it not the most pointless story ever? I want to go to the pub tonight but i dont have any money (well I do, the missus just wont let me) Quote
Avinalaff Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 Deserves more credit than stick. I think the strikers we have will be ok though. For me, the service to our front men, and the positional play of the team as a whole is the problem. If Moyes can get the midfield balanced the goals will come. Playing with only one striker will always mean the goals come from different sources. Quote
StevO Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 i would be made up with crouch, our midfield would score a hatful from him being uptop. could be a great foil for saha too. shame it wont happen. Quote
