Pienaar

Recommended Posts

pienaars stats might not been great, he may not have had lots of assists, but how many of baines assists had pienaar involved?

Passing the ball out wide to Baines is the easiest job in the world, Pienaar still struggled to do that, often passing it to his feet rather than infront of him to run on to or by doing some dogshit trick and losing the ball. Considering all he had to do was wait for Baines to over lap he cut in far too often considering he was a row Z specialist and his final ball makes me angry to think about

In the time he was with us , in just the league (not cups) he had 10 goals and 20 assists. I don't have figures for the cups, but he did score and assist in those too.

I cant find the stats but I posted a comparison this year, and Osman was twice as good on paper.

I think we need to focus on Piennar, rather than compare him to players we already have. It's not as though we are swapping him, but if he came, he would come 'in addition' to what we have, so it's irrelevant really as to who is the best, and instead, it should be about whether Pienaar is good, which I think he is.

I'd much rather see Drenthe, Osman, Bily and Gueye before Pienaar LM. We really don't need another Moyes favourite that can play shit every week and not get dropped holding back our other players.

Well how come nobody has managed to do it since Piennar left?

You seem to be the only bloke on the planet who cant see what a great combination Baines and Piennar were

Osman stepped in and done a much better job, putting in many MOM performances(although some in the middle) and linking up with Baines. We've used the same tactic with Baines for 4 years maybe teams are clicking on

Thats whats called tactics, it takes the defender inside and leaves the space for Baines, its the most used ploy in football Pete, thats why theres more fullbacks crossing balls from out wide than any other player.

Hibbert and Neville are not very good at it, but fortunately Baines is.

Pete, why not play both mate?

Because Osman does better than him, even Anichebe, Bily, Coleman and McFadden. I'd also like to see more of Gueye and Barkley before Pienaar got a game. He's a CM, like most the players i've just named and he'd be 6th choice there. If a proper winger-some one like Donovan-comes available i'd happily welcome them.

I can't agree here mate, but I respect your opinion if that's ok. I think Pienaar would be first on the team sheet.

I don't mean he cut in a made space for Baines, he'd cut in then often ignore Baines when he was the best option, instead looking to have a pop which usually ended in either a goalkick or him losing possession.

Not being funny peteO but just out of interest how often do you watch Everton live or full 90 mins? Now and when Pienaar was at us?

Last season was the least I saw live, only went 3 games. Before that less than 10 per season from 08/09. Often as I could before 08/09. ST 04-07.

2 seasons worth fit in 5 minutes, not much of an argument for

Pete, I've been watching it for 5 minutes already and I'm still watching it.

I only posted the link 30 seconds before, and already you've replied to it. What was the point in my posting the video if you comment without watching it? blink.png

A five minute video is not gonna make me change my mind. Yes, he made/scored a few good goals, but more often than not he fecked up the attack. If the video was of him losing the ball or dog-awful pass it would be much longer

The thing we miss most about Pienaar is he would make the ball stick in the attacking areas rather than it coming straight back at us. Yeah maybe not a natural winger in his directness but certainly a class wideman.

Next Qu peteO - what the hell do you want in a wide midfielder? You don't like Coleman who is direct and tries to get to the by-line and you don't like Pienaar as he's tricky and he brings other players into the game... dont%20know.gif

have to agree with the majority, i know everyone from Kopites to Gooners who have mentioned to me in the past about the Baines/Pienaar combo and about how effective they were together, but at the same time i see little point in bringing him back to the club

Link Louis Has jus put up says Baines crossing has improved on last season

One who can pick a pass, does the right option or can cross a ball or cut in and get a shot on target, if they can beat a man as well that'd be perfect. Coleman jus runs at people, Pienaar jus back-heeled the ball at them.

I saw the stats Pete although I've been thoroughly disappointed with Baines this season though mate. He seems half arsed at times.

I was surprised, possibly had less crosses and just more have been on target, he looks like he needs a couple weeks rest either that or Moyes is telling him not to get forward as much.

It might be his new hair cut making him look lazy lol. I don't like our dirty looking away kit either. That looked like Bines hadn't bathed in weeks. laugh.png

I too would love Donovan but some of what you're saying is...well...'dave' esq.

Do you really believe that????

Maybe its because he hasnt got anyone in front of him making space for him and playing him in? No Im sure your right and we are all wrong, Piennar is rubbish and it must be Moysie telling him to stop getting forward happy.png

Both Baines and Hibbert seemed reluctant to get forward against utd. Bily/Osman often looked to play the ball forward and Baines was waiting back for it.
