Put in a decent cross for their first, but was in no-mans land for the equaliser. Got beaten and caught out of position a couple of times in these highlights too, but hopefully we see some continued defensive improvement with more game time.

What a refreshing and heart warming thread, I don't know the back story as I'm relatively new on here.... but it reinforces to me what Everton are about as a club...I know that's a cliché and a bit trite...but hats off to you guy's and the community you've got on here

Completely agree. I think we're just as liable to cock up a league cup game with a full strength team when compared to a second 11. Even Fulham made 6 changes from their weekend game, so what are we blaming their win on? Bottom line is we should have won with the team we put out and Roberto should've been willing to alter things a bit sooner before the goal.

yeah fair call... I have looked at all the criteria and it was on a whim that I threw this together after seeing the 3rd crest and just figured.. 'why not' . point taken on the to modern aspect... I do wonder if the options being voted on are a little 'safe' .. and maybe when it comes to aspects like merchandising etc may come across a little bland. Ive thrown in a 'reverse ' option on the same idea to reflect a blue background... and just for the sake of it I have had a crack at incorporating the name in the crest and demodernised it haha... Thanks for your thoughs!

Just thought I'd share with you a couple of rough sketches I did regarding my thoughts on a new crest for the club below. I tried to keep a lot of old elements (i.e. the old font, tower, NSNO) as I felt they either are or have become important parts of Everton's history and the crest. The idea of using the River Mersey intrigues me, so decided to add it into the second image. (Apologies for the crests looking generally rubbish, especially the wreath elements )

Also coloured in the Mersey River crest to see how it would look (still undecided on how to colour it personally though).

I dunno if you want to call Scotland "abroad" but I'm happy to mark your card with everything tartan. My default setting is always to expect the average English fan to be a bit dismissive of our football, and while that grates a little I'm used to it by know and to be fair we are pretty quick to don a hairshirt and decry our domestic leagues ourselves.
I'm a real glass half full man tho and I reckon our standard isn't that bad, at Tynecastle we are currently operating under a 15 point penalty and transfer embargo for going into administration during the summer, so times are hard, but we've clawed 7 points back in the first 5 games including wins against the "wee team" Hibs which is always a good day and Aberdeen. We only have two fit players over the age of 21 and our youngsters are an outstanding bunch, we have 11 players away on International duty this week at various age levels who are now performing miracles for the first team and competing with the hammer throwers in the SPFL.
Two in particular, I'm pretty sure will go on to emulate what James McCarthy has achieved in the Premiership, Jason Holt, who has been chased by Nottingham Forest over the summer and a 17 year old called Adam King who was the subject of a deadline day bid by Swansea on Monday.
Hearts aside there is a plethora of young talent coming through up here, mostly through necessity in these hard financial times, but with that comes the great chance for theses laddies to get first team exposure and the chance to make a name for themselves.
