Matt Tiger got a reaction from nyblue23 in Frank Lampard
This. Nothing would be more welcome than actually enjoying possession after watching nearly the entire midfield look petrified of taking space or making an impactful decision on the ball.

Matt Tiger reacted to Bailey in Frank Lampard
I am really optimistic about Frank. I have my reservations about just how well his tactics will be executed but I still just get the feeling the players will really respond to him and that will make its way into the stands as well.
He just feels more Everton than anyone has been for a long time.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from rubecula in Diego Costa
Wow. I majorly disagree here.
He's a pain in the ass but talent and production wise he's world class for me.

I actually thought Siggy looked solid, all things considered. Our tactics left no room for link up play in the midfielf and he picked out some nice passes regardless. Not the impact you'd ideally want but hard to expect anymore given the situation.

Everyone of that quality wants CL football, which we can't yet offer. Hence why we need to piece together our attack with multiple options rather than sign a world beater.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from markjazzbassist in Rate our 2016 Transfer Window (and TDD)
It's easy for a team like United to get their business done early because everyone wants to go there. Mourihno essentially found his pick of the litter and got what he wanted. Done and dusted.
It takes us longer because it takes time to negotiate and we're not always going to get our first choice, or even our second or third choices. We're linked with everyone because we have gaps we need to fill and run through multiple options looking for a. someone we rate b. someone who will leave their current club c. someone the club will allow to move, and d. someone who either buys into our ambition or doesn't require immediate european play.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from markjazzbassist in Moussa Sissoko
We're getting beaten to players who aren't even being considered by top clubs, how are we going to lure a big fish without first doing the little things to get us near the top of the table and european football? Chicken or an egg situation for me... I think we had a modest but solid window. Sold Stones at a premium and by the look of things have a young more than capable replacement with loads of potential in holgate. We did a fine job getting a stopgap keeper solution on the cheap. We nailed an absolute bargain in gueye who looks like a proper star. Williams will give us a proper defensive unit we've been lacking. And we splashed some cash on a real difference maker who also gives us depth and options on the wing and in attack.
I think they deserve some heat for not locking down another goal scorer for depth, but everything else points to this being a window in which we were smart, didn't shell out a ton of cash on ppl who weren't worth it, but still bolstered our squad nad got it to a point where Koeman feels strong about our positioning moving forward. This window was utter craziness anyway; might be worth a punt to see if a solid depth piece in attack is available for a more reasonable sum in January.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from markjazzbassist in Moussa Sissoko
I mean in fairness we've already gotten Stekelenburg and Gueye on the cheap, both of which have played to a much higher value thus far, locked up Ailliams and splashed some cash on Bolasie.. It hasn't been a bad window imo.
That said, could really use a striker. I'm surprised about all the Sissoko / Brahimi talk rather than tons of activity surrounding goal scorers.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from Sibdane in Joe Hart
Guys I really don't think this is hard. One of the better managers in the world is replacing his keeper, and some are arguing we should pay more for Hart than they are paying for the keeper replacing him.
Are we mental?

Matt Tiger got a reaction from Matt in Lamine Kone
Barry's career is almost over, Gibson is irrelevant,. Besic is always (and currently) injured, Cleverly isn't a CDM, Davies isn't a CDM. McCarthy is currently a very important depth piece imo.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from nyblue23 in Lukaku
Not sure who you're referring to... I very much do not want him to leave, and will continue to pull for him while he's with us. The man scores goals - with our upgrades in both pace and (hopefully) delivery in I see no reason why we should get rid of him now. SHould see his goal output only increase.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from markjazzbassist in West Bromwich Albion (Away) Sat August 20th
Love this lineup.. Would like it even more if we could get a stud central attacking mid (or a stud winger and move Gerry there) and have Ross play deeper. Like, this player is a pipe dream, but if we could go something like:
Stekelenburg
Holgate Jags Williams Baines
Gueye Barkley
Bolasie Gerry Draxler
Lukaku
With Barkley having room to get a head full of steam and linking play between the defense and attack. Could be very dangerous.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from StevO in James McCarthy
Not trying to rely on Gibson for a damn thing... If anything could play more attacking, slide barkley deeper, and replace him with some proper creativity in the lineup.
-
Matt Tiger got a reaction from Sibdane in Begovic
Rather have Begovic at ~10 then Hart at ~30, though.
But yes, I'd rather have Hart generally.

Fair point.. He said as much in his quotes on Bolasie.
-
Matt Tiger got a reaction from dlblue in Yannick Bolasie
Ehhh ok seeing these quotes it's hard not to get excited for this one... Think I'm changing heart and agreeing with others - this side and Koeman will give him a much better opportunity to utilize his skill set than he had at Palace.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from duncanmckenzieismagic in Juan Mata
To me I know mata is quality, world class creativity at times. And I know he was frequently played out of position and perhaps just didn't get on well at United. Sure it's a risk, but this is the type of player we don't get a crack at without some risk. We have the money, to me we have to do it. I think he'll show up consistently as the featured player.
-
Matt Tiger got a reaction from Baba in Juan Mata
Bolasie just isn't class imo. Fair if koeman is looking for a different style player but if so find one better than bolasie.
I still think we need someone with mata's creativity. Would be great with rom.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from Matt in Ashley Williams
And believe what you want, ssn obviously the better source, I still wouldn't get an outright 2 year deal. Need options for more at least.

Matt Tiger got a reaction from Sibdane in Kalidou Koulibaly
This is true this year, but with their transfer activity and history I'm sure players feel more confident that they'll consistently be in Euro consideration than they do coming here.
