Steve and Baily both make good points, not sure which is correct maybe a little bit of both. But possibly just the combination of their strengths and weaknesses and how they play make Siggy and DCL not an ideal 10-9 combo. I guess we will know as the season goes on and see different pairings. Maybe DCL comes to life with Iwobi at the 10, maybe Siggy creates havoc with Kean at the 9 or such

if it's a gathering that's all about me so to speak, make it something I'd want to go to if I wasn't in a box. Decent Dad, husband, kind to old ladies and strangers, years of volunteering in youth soccer leagues fine. But if it's going there, probably shouldn't skip over "usually smuggled liquor into functions inappropriately" and "farted in crowded elevators and then giggled like a school boy"
You know, I have talked about writing mine for years, but I haven't done it, I really should. Funny, irreverent, where people would laugh out loud...with a bit at the end to make sure all those fuckers walk out in tears, bam! 🤣

I think Mina gets a little bit of a bad rap. He came in fighting both injury and acclimation problems. What we saw from him later in the year and even this year has been pretty positive. I am willing to mostly give him a pass for last year, and see what he does his second year. If his form in the future looks more like his old form than his current form, I will eat my hat and say I was wrong.

I'm sure we are becoming a big rival to them. But then again between the hammer and the nail,.only the nail sees it as a rivalry.

Channeling my inner Ted Lasso and saying we win by a field goal, 4-1. Siggy, Richy, Siggy, Kean and Gerry for them.

Exactly. Even if you don’t think the competition itself is that important, it’s a trophy. Success breeds success and it could well be our catalyst, giving the players that taste of holding the trophy up infront of adoring fans at Wembley is a memory that they won’t forget and will want to experience again, hopefully in multiple competitions.

I like the way they are trying to get a value, by attaching things beyond what "the market" says, but ultimately it's rubbish. Whoever has an asset, sets the Sell Price, period. Whoever wants the asset sets the Buying Price, period. When SP=BP there is a transaction, and that is "the value". Ultimately only 2 parties determine the value of a player, a haircut or a house - basic economics.
Looking at it 6 months a year or whatever down the road is totally different. We know exactly what Kean (or Iwobe et al) was worth August 2019. Next window or next summer it may look like a great deal for us, or poor one.  But then we are speculating on 2020 value vs actual 2019 value which is inherently flawed.
Zaha is good example, we will never know his 2019 "value", because there wasn't a transaction, but we assume it was somewhere between 50-100M. In January or next summer we will speculate what it SHOULD have been in August 2019 and be happy or bummed in retrospect, because that's what we do.

Totally agree. I think two years isn't long enough for the House. make it in work for a year and basically spend a significant part of their second year on re-election. I would rather see that as a 4-year term with a two-term limit. The Senate is a little bit trickier. Either limited to two terms as is, or change it to four your terms with a 3 term limit. But if the President can only have 8 years, it doesn't seem logical the congressman or senators can stay almost indefinitely and become the institution within the institution like Byrd or Thurmond. Fuck those guys, get a real job!

I don't disagree. If you recall, the right was NOT united behind Trump, at all. He wasn't exactly warmly embraced by the right in congress when he arrived either. Among other things, the "drain the swamp" mantra was not simply a shot of the left, but the system, which includes republicans. I'd offer that what has brought more unity to the right, is the left itself. Trump has unified the left "Anyone but Trump" and the incessant banging of the drum, both legitimate and the way over the top, has united the right. I'd submit It's far less rallying behind Trump, and more a result of the nonstop shotgun approach to everything on the right. All the folks I know that voted for Trump basically like what he is doing or trying to do policy-wise, but absolutely hate HOW he goes about it. Besides my brother-in-law, who is a full-blown MAGA dork, that would wear a raincoat if Rush Limbaugh told him it was going to rain. But for the rest of, being generalized as racists, supremacist, xenophobes, nazis, misogynists and generally ignorant on everything via social media and traditional media has done more to unite the right -it just gets old. We will never love Trump as much as the left hates him, ever.
I think the fractures in the GOP will reappear post-Trump, be in 2020 or 2024. The RNC is going to have a hell of a time trying to find "their guy" - especially when you figure the RNC never wanted Trump until it's base told them to fuck off and put him on the ticket. The moderates and progressives are at war internally on the left, but are united against Trump - which I agree in the short term will give more unity to the left in the first post-Trump election.

Sounds similar, may be the same program we used in the final class to finish a business degree - ours was a shoe company, where you make one set of decisions a week, got the results and made another set of decisions the next week over the course of the term. My team wasn't interested, and let me do all that, and I just reported what I was doing/had done. Slight brag, we finished the game with more market share and company value than the other 5 teams combined  I loved that program/assignment

That is the terrifying thing. I am not a conspiracy guy, never have been. Occam's Razor > all to me. But the sheer amount of data we willingly share, let alone we we unknowing share is pretty frightening really. It used to be "Big Brother" that was the worry, but now it's "Somebody Else's Brother they don't even know about" - and social media is their playground.
We have discussed this in other threads, but it's becoming really hard to know what is truth, be it from the media, or social media in general. We're human, we all have some bias. But it's difficult to keep your guard up to that when you are exposed to information. Hell, you can take 2 different "historically correct" history books on an event and come away with 2 different understands of what actually happened - because author's have bias. Ditto writers and producers of shows like The Hack and Uncivil War. You just hope it's of the unintentional sort, and not started with conclusion in mind, and selectively using or bending the data to that end. I'm certainly not smart enough to always know the difference.
I'd like to think I have a healthy degree of skepticism. If I read or see something that fits what I generally feel, or want to believe/wish were true, I'm going to try to do some research into it, before I store it away or "accept it" -ditto if it's something I don't want to believe. Social media makes otherwise intelligent people stupid. They forward/retweet someone else's opinion as fact, or worse, lie as a fact -because it "fits". And that's exactly what what these "Hackers" know and count on. Sensationalize or make some shit up, scatter it to a few different places with accounts repeating it, and there you go.
At this point, I think there is little doubt our 2016 was fucked with. But how much? By whom, and to what end? It's pretty damned scary, especially as our electorate becomes more polarized, and increasingly intellectually lazy - prone to emotional reactions instead of a logical deliberation.

Dammit, you made me re-setup my VPN, so I could view that (UK only)! To counter your exaggeration comment (not that it isn't TOTALLY accurate) the top of the page lists American Football--->fixtures--->tables   There are NO fixtures and NO tables in American football. There are games, and there are standings! Damn soccer dweebs 🤣
Hell of a run and cool story! Did you see the Bill's official page account? "A Christian Wade fan account until further notice" That's awesome

He graduated from HS the same year I did, he played down south at Kiln, I played at Meridian. We were ranked #1, but got upset in the first round of the playoffs or we might have played them in a couple of rounds. Meant little at the time, but in retrospect it would have been very cool.  I then sat in Jordan-Hare and watched him lead his very over-matched Southern Miss teams to upset wins at Auburn both his junior and senior year. The Pack has been my favorite NFC, if not NFL team since. Loved they way that guy played the game!
