Well, we did it. We needed a win today in order to get our first trophy. We went down 1-0 about 5 minutes in after a former player for our team who always kills us scored. However, Thierry Henry scored an absolutely ridiculous goal to level it. We then scored FOUR goals in the second half, with Cahill in the middle of everything. He was subbed off at the very end of the game so he could get the deserved ovation and holy fuck it was loud. Thanks for giving us a guy who will forever be considered a legend in New York soccer.

Here are the highlights, in case anyone is interested. I know MLS will never measure up to the EPL in a number of ways, but hopefully you guys can watch this to appreciate just how passionate and dedicated our fanbase is.

I don't understand either. Kone is a good player, and he has a track record of scoring goals. It takes time to blend with a new team, and he's had few opportunities to play. Even when he did, his stats were better than most other players, no matter what the comments here. He may have missed a couple of good chances, but he created those chances in the first place. I wouldn't wish injury on anyone and am disappointed at those who are laughing at him for missing the season. Very poor form, I must say.

Aroune Kone: I for one wish you a successful operation and speedy recovery.

Well what's the point of competing at all if our only goal each year is to stay with the big boys without actually progressing? I understand that a season in the champions league will most likely end in a drop of our league position, but it will make the club more revenue and a more attractive place for promising players. That and it shows a little bit of ambition. I'd rather we have a couple of seasons in the champions league at the expense of our domestic position than just be treading water and sitting in the same place every year going no where.

I think Kone looked ok and he'll have his day if he keeps playing.

Not our best game, but possibly our best 3 points in terms of seeing the game out.

If that shot had been an inch to the left we'd be about what a superb & cool finish it was.

    Far too early to judge.

Can't stand Kone though, he offers absolutely nothing. A wast of money, would rather try with Long or Vellios

Because people don't like change and it was the closest to the old one. Complete cop out for me; I thought the whole idea was to modernise and we've just gone back to virtually what we had before.

I'd be happier keeping this years personally....though I realise that's a minority viewpoint.

Agree and disagree. I think it was a master stroke to keep the same team that beat Chelsea. In this way RM has made sure all the players know that if you put in a cracking performance and get a win you will start next game. I'm sure RM knew that it wasn't his strongest starting line up but by going behind he could make changes and the players coming off couldn't complain. In addition to this turning a loss into a win will give the players confidence in RM as manager and mean he can change the next starting line ups with little complaint from the players losing their start. Loving RM.

I think that the club have done it the best and fairest way. I don't think there will be many Evertonians who haven't bought a ticket in the last ten years and if they haven't then it may sound harsh but tough. I live in the south (Milton Keynes) and only go up to goodison or away games occasionally.

DK I don't mean to cause you offence and I'm sure you're a genuinely nice guy. However, I regularly read your posts and find great humour in the fact that you post daily in a wide range of topics and rarely, if ever comment on your opinion and seem to regurgitate slices of match reports and the opinions of other people. I'm not being belligerent just having a laugh, so please don't take offence. Lastly on a serious note when was the last time you watched a live Everton match either on TV or in person? I'm curious.

I do love your match day analysis Dalziel! I don't think I've once read a set of comments from you after a match that indicates you've watched it. I'd love to know how you draw these conclusions. I genuinely would like to know your views and not what you've read or heard. Maybe next week?

Silly me, thought 'good result today... Good performance.... Think I'll watch Match of the Day and see what they reckon'.

One eyed highlights at best. Looked like only one team played. No footage of the cynical challenges by the Chelsea players to stop us breaking, but what looked like a procession of chances for them.

Didn't quite reflect the game I thought I watched.

Don't get the Naismith votes? Was in the right place for the goal but other than that he was poor in possession although he made the odd good tackle. Wouldn't get in my top 5 today.

Moyes would all players in our own half, Martinez has them stretched out, we press higher up the pitch. That's why we were able to counter attack so well. The last 20 minutes we had by far the best clear cut chances, Coleman and mirallas professionally fouled, 2 free kicks one off the bar, one saved.

Moyes invited pressure, Martinez counteracts pressure.

Competition is why Osman should be nowhere near the starting 11 for this game. He's done nothing so far this season.

Not meaning to be picky, but 6+5+13 is 26m, not 24m.
