I agree! I guess it's just becuase clubs could be seen as extorting young players by tying them down to 5 year contracts on lower (relatively) money. Though it seems that players these days actually want paying extra for doing the things footballers are SUPPOSED to do, like kicking a ball for example. Hernandez reportedly wanted a £90,000 goal bonus from West Ham. Obviously the £100,000 a week basic didn't include goals.

    It's a sham!

Some young players often have a clause in their contracts - X amount of senior league games = better terms.

Chelsea really couldn't cope with pace of Citeh last week so we have to play lennon and Deulofeu if we want anything out of the game. If not we'll just be pedestrian like we were against Spurs and lose 0-1.

These reports have no actual quotes or substance to back them up as things stand. I'm not saying he hasn't but until I see it or hear it from the club or player I'm not going to worry about it.

Exactly, how impartial is Sky Sports News going to be when it could make so much money through Sky Bet?! It's a no brainer.

What depresses me is that we should have at least 30-40 million to spend on players from TV revenue alone without having to sell McCarthy or Stones.

Crystal Palace and Stoke are looking far more ambitious than us and frankly that is woeful.

You could replace "Valerie" with "Cleverley" from the song of the same name.

"Why won't you come on over Cleverley?"

Haha. Pretty homo-erotic actually, but I'm cool with that.

    It depends really.
Say we have paid £2.5million as a 'bonus' rather than wages and he becomes instrumental in our team. We can then take him for free when his contract runs out ( I think he's in the last year?!) and he will be on much lower wages with him being a more senior player, say 50k for arguments sake. That means that really we have paid a £2.5m transfer fee for a player that might give us 3 seasons.

    I don't think that's too unreasonable?

I guess the flip side is if he does shite then we've paid £2.5m for nothing....but it wouldn't be the first time us or any club in football has done that!

It strikes me that very few opposing teams fan ever worry about Mirallas. I think he's still under the radar a bit, which is probably a good thing for us!

    What's funny is that..

    a) Everton have made no indication whatsoever that they want McCarthy (officially)
b ) Wigan haven't put any price tag on him, let alone £15m (officially)
    c) If anything was going to happen, or has happened you'd hear it first from Dave Whelan, way before SSN or the rags. (Not officially, but it is DW!)

Reading this forum you'd think McCarthy was the only midfielder in the world we could buy and considering its all sprouted from paper rumours I think this is getting a lot of wasted energy!

Barry won't go anywhere to be cover, otherwise he'd just stay at City as cover...

Surely the man we need who breaks up play and is very mobile around the pitch is what we already have...Fellaini. If he's good enough for the likes of Utd or Chelsea to want him as a holding midfielder then why isn't he good enough for us?

My love for Martinez just gets more each day..,. Thank fuck we've got him handling Ross Barkley now. It's a pity the likes of Baxter, Rodwell and Vellios never had him a couple of years ago.

MISTAKES - a common word in football because all games feature them. Make a young player fear mistakes and you won't see their true talent,

I've said it numerous times and said it right at the time, what Moyes did with Barkley at the Blackburn game was scandalous. i actually think Moyes had some form of envy when it came to flair players, players who can do that special thing that he couldn't as a journeyman lower league player. He even came out and said something along the lines of "he should be doing it more" when baines scored a screamer. He even came out with shite about mirallas when he was our match winner. You never heard him say "phil Neville was predictably shite today" - no because he identified with players like Neville, kilbane, bent, Cahill.

Barkley just like Gerry D, is going to have games where things don't work, but under Martinez we will see the game where everyone will "how the fuck did he do that?!". There is no better thing in football than seeing the moment a young talent announces himself on the biggest stage. We seen it with Rooney versus arsenal, and I think we will see it again with young Ross.

Just because he shares your view doesn't mean he's right or indeed anyone else agrees!

Kenwright backed Moyes and put complete faith in him, he allowed him the freedom to express himself and buy players (which incidentally has given us a first team of full internationals). Look at some other chairmans buying players THEY want, or hiring Directors of Football that serve to undermine the manager.

Haf, some Chairmen wouldn't allow Martinez the freedom to change the philosophy of this club. Considering you rate RM's philosophy so highly, you should be thankful that RM will be given the control over the club that allows him to put that into place?!

I don't want to get into an argument about Kenwright, he infuriates me as much as you but I also think that his nature will actually benefit Martinez in the same way that Dave Whelan left Martinez to it.
