With Pienaar on one wing and Mirallas on the other, dont think Donovan would get in our team anyway. Past his SBD.

id take him back and give him a chance to prove himself, if he was free. pay-as-you-play deal.

Yes, Oldham. A team that plays in League One, I'm sorry but if we can't beat them then we need to pack our bags and forget about Europe. They did a giant-killing with Liverpool last round but we really shouldn't be losing against teams like this. It's a must win game and I'm sure we will, our players will be aware of the threat they posses and will deal with it accordingly.

Yeah, fair enough....but if he can see the tiredness in Pienaar and Ossie (for which read ineffectiveness on the pitch) why not sub them? Give Oviedo a go on the left for example, he couldn't have been worse than Pienaar in the second half.

Baffles me that he goes on about how small our squad is but then chooses to limit himself to an even smaller group within it.

Moyes said: “I thought they [Manchester United] played very well during the opening period, but I didn’t think we helped ourselves.

“We got back into it but the second goal killed it for us. It was unlike us – I don’t know why we were so far up and square at the back. We gave them an opportunity to make a through pass, which Van Persie ran onto.

“Ossie had a good chance and we forced a couple of corner kicks. We put them under a bit of pressure and I thought we played well up until about 20-25 yards out from goal.

“The problem was that if we gave it away, they looked as though they could counter-attack. Wayne [Rooney] and Van Persie were very fast on the break and were always going to be a threat.

“We didn’t have enough when we got into the final third of the pitch today to make the difference.”

Despite slipping to just their fourth league defeat of the season, Moyes commended his team for fighting to the final whistle.

He continued: “We did great to keep at it, albeit Manchester United had a two-goal lead and have a big game in midweek.

“But I thought our players stuck at it. They kept trying to earn a goal and did themselves proud with the way they played in the end.”

Don't get me started on Victor Valdes. Utter shite - the only reason he's at Barcelona is because he's a Catalan.

Sorry, but I don't think we have it in us to beat Man Utd right now. We have been far to shaky. We have not been sharp in front of goal lately either. At best we can hope for a draw which would be a great result. 4 points against Man Utd is not bad.

I HOPE i am wrong about this and I know that come match day I will be more optimistic. I always am.

The last one as I felt Howard was more culpable as he should have claimed the ball or told Distin he didn't need to clear it, meaning we'd have had the ball and not Villa.

not sure how much he can be blamed today, he was asked to mark one of the biggest and strongest strikers in the EPL, who also has much more pace than him (not that that is hard). Why Moyes told him to mark Beneteke is a mystery

    Birthday threads.

Folk should just pm each other or offer a subtle reply. Brown nosing is annoying, especially when it's a select few. Either do a thread for everybody or not at all.

Moderators doing it is even worse. Imagine walking in to the office and seeing a birthday message on the white board from the boss, when others don't get one?

SimonButtle reacted to Formby in David Moyes - sign or go ?
Ah, the perennial debate hots up. I've been saying for years that we won't win a thing with Moyes, which was okay when expectations were rock bottom, and the warm blanket of mid-table security seemed quite comforting. However, with a decent to good squad at our disposal, one naturally looks up. It is unfortunate then that the very qualities that brought us the mid-table security don't translate to the higher echelons of the PL. The guys up there sleep in silk pyjamas. Moyes is a good, well-respected PL manager. What he isn't is a higher echelon manager. He is far too conservative, far too defence minded, far too predictable, and far too lacking in tactical nous (see European jaunts and the important cup games for details). I hope he doesn't sign and moves on. Will always be grateful to him, mainly for the manner he has conducted himself, and for what he has done for the club, but really, can we not have an attack minded manager, please? One who doesn't stifle our forward looking players (pun intended).

Problem is: clogging up jelavics space having fellaini stand there in the middle of three 6 footers battling him for one of Jags 30 yard hoofs. Simple as that. Route 1 rubbish that was a reminder of the old unsworth diagonal hoofs to big Dunc.

Close it. We'd have to be in an incredibly desperate place if we 'needed' him back.

Blimey - how many opportunities has our Vic had to get where he is right now???

I will make a comparison between the two as theyb both share target men attributes. Vellios looks far better in the air, heck of a leap. He holds up the ball better and has a better touch.

I will say one thing does stand out - Vellios looks hungry and has a work ethic. In the 5 minutes he had on the pitch the other week he looked sharp and wasnt afraid to put himself about. I think there could be justification for Vic and Vellios both getting time together, certainly give Jelavic a much needed rocket.

SimonButtle reacted to Hafnia in Ross Barkley
I think the fact that hansen picked us out as being lower than we should be says it all, this league aint that good! We have dropped ridiculous points this season - we have had opportunities to blood the youngsters and yes, I do believe that nearly every one of them could play the midfield role better than Phil Neville, they can all probably pass the ball better - Jan Mucha can probably pass the ball better.

Osman is due a rest, he's not a physical specimen and he often has to do twice as much work as he should covering for Nevilles mistakes. Part of me actually thinks we could become a better team without fellaini. We seem to revert to hoof ball when he is there amongst their defenders - teams are wise to it, blimey even Cheltenham knew how to deal with it!

Moyes has plan A and that is it, most of the time it's enough, it's the times when it isnt working that frustrates, as he just brings on useless subs.

Maybe he can add a medal to them if he uses Barkley not Neville, vellios not Naismith. Develop these potentially great players rather than see out the players who are finished.
