What Grinds Your Gears...

Posted this in "vaunt the good vibes" a while back.

Easyjet flights for next summer released today and I've got return flights to Zakynthos next July for under £100 each! Virtually the same flights for last year cost me £185 each; and next year it's just me + wife so only two to pay for instead of three.

But now eJ have announced that they're flying to Zakynthos from Bristol next summer.

Equivalent flights to what we've got are £63 each, Bristol is fifty miles away while Gatwick is 175 so we would have saved loads in petrol, and Gatwick parking is twice the cost of Bristol . Not happy.

Had an 'interesting' 24 hours. Yesterday I went to pick some stuff up at the Chemist. The shop is in a parade on a rather narrow road. When cars are parked down both sides (which they usually are) there is only just room for a car to get through. As I was leaving, driving down the narrow gap, a car came round the corner into the road I was on and came down the road as if I wasn't there and collided with the front of my car. He then reversed so that I could pull over. I got out to inspect the damage and then went to talk to the guy just in time to see him walking into a shop. When he came out he turned out to be about 90 and hadn't a clue what was going on. One of the shopkeepers came out and said 'that's Mr ****** he can't see and shouldn't be driving.

Then this morning I had to go early to Royal Berks Hospital in Reading. When I had my colonoscopy they said I would have to have a CT scan and they would write to me. I received a letter sayi ng I had to go this morning. Royal Berks is a very big hospital and parking is a nightmare as it is in the City centre. So I drive the my golf club which is a couple of miles outside Reading, then get a taxi from there. When I got to the South Block where my appointment was, it was all fenced off due to some workings, so I had to walk down to Central Block and ask for directions. I then had to walk about 3 miles (exaggeration but you know what I mean) to get to Outpatients 2. I finally found it and they keyed my details into the computer and said 'it has been changed to Outpatients 1. I had another three mile walk and finally got to the right place. I waited about an hour, then was called in to see the specialist. He had my notes and said 'I see you have had your colonoscopy and we think you should now have a CT scan, I will arrange it, it will take about 2 months.'

I am now home and think I will spend the rest of the day in bed.

Wow, great couple of days!

Hospital parking? Don't get me started. RD & E (Exeter) where I go is appalling for parking, I suspect all hospitals are. When I was going every day earlier in the year I got a free pass and there's an area around Oncology which is supposedly reserve for people with a pass, but everyone ignores it (because they can find nowhere else to park) and leave their car there anyway. I got involved in more than one heated discussion.

Now, I still have to go there at least once a week, and I know what times of day I'll get a space and when I won't I get the "park & ride". This morning, however, I was driving in and had no change for the machine so I stopped to buy a bottle of milk. Got there, found a place and went to buy a ticket armed with two £2 coins because it's £2 for two hours but often the machines reject.....and it'd gone up to £2.50! No warning . And do car park machines give change? Of course not. The technology obviously hasn't been invented yet to do something so complicated.

People like this don't help either (think I've probably posted the pic earlier in this thread).

I think I've done that or something similar in the past.. I needed to for wheelchair access!

Lena Headey has ground my gears, she's posting spoilers for the new season of Game of Thrones.

Do they really count as spoilers when the whole storyline is common knowledge to anyone who's read the books? Not like leaking a Dr Who episode (for example) when the story is a big secret.

Generally, the show follows the book, but there are some differences for sure. Some people in the show are alive still when they should be dead according to the book. Not going to drop any names.

Can't think of anyone personally, though my brain's a bit of a sieve these days so if you say it's the case I believe you. Nobody major though surely? PM me or use

if I'm missing something obvious.

I can tell you the name of every kid I went to school with in 1971 but have no idea what I had for breakfast yesterday :(.

None of the main characters for sure. Some minor characters. I'm on my phone, so I can't use the spoilers feature. That'll give you some time to figure it out!

Torn ligaments in my foot, again. Means I can't help around the house or with the baby because I'm on crutches with a golf ball sized swelling throbbing away. So frustrating.

You're an accident waiting to happen Matt; but it won't get you out of nappy changing duties :P.

Tried for ages to convince my wife I couldn't do the washing-up any more due to my fucked shoulder. No joy :(.

Missed a step leaving the office, turned it and voila. Mike, I'm supposed to stay as horizontal as possible so I can't even get close to the changing table. My wife is currently looking after both of us!

Horizontal is my favourite position mate, so many benefits, milk it for all you can .

When it's the first time that it's being televised, I'd say yes.

In the photo she released, she was strangling Peter Dinklage. So presumably Tyrion dies as she released an image last year of her gauging the Oberyn actor's eyes. Don't tell me if it isn't the case, I want to presume it is now so if it doesn't' happen, it won't be spoiled.
