I remember when it first appeared on screens in 1982 as the first program on Channel 4, but it's always been a narcoleptics dream. I actually liked Whiteley though, and Vorderman wasn't too bad, it's just the overall show sends me into cardiac arrest. And they always come up with words that simply can't exist, 'I have a 9 letter word, it's Dogbonons' or something, they go to dictionary corner and some pasty faced old mare looks it up in the book - 'Yes it's there' etc. Always sounds good. Notification of child tax credits for 12/13 came through the post this morning and said that it'd stop in August because my lad is sixteen, despite another arm of the Inland Revenue, Child Benefit, being informed weeks ago that he was staying in full time education so we're still entitled. When I eventually got though this afternoon (45 mins, better than usual) I was told that, yes they could make the relevant changes but only within twenty weeks of when it'll come into force. Went into LIDL on the way home and every damn time they have about six checkouts and only one operative, why they do this is a mystery. One long queue of people waiting and about four of five other tills just not being used, it's like 'Look, there's a damn queue of people here and maybe it would be easier to open a new till or something and get people moving', fucks me right off every time it does.
