So, finishing below us this season was a big underachievement, does that mean finishing 3/4 places above us having spent mega millions more and paying sky high wages is a major success, even when you haven't actually won anything. So a major achievement for liverpool is to spend a fourtune and finish above their skint neighbour.....wow!

no, where did I say that? a major achievement was winning the league, or the european cup. Winning anything is an achievement.

You can and have fluked the odd cup win, fair play to you, it's those that have kept your profile high amongst glory hunters, but you have to go back nearly as far as us to your last league title. As the wise old Brian Clough said "he would swap his european cup, FA cup and league cup wins for a championship medal"

You can't argue with your league position, except to say thank god you had generous owners, else where might you have finished.I know it must hurt to see an impoverished Everton above you.

you don't seem to be able to grasp this, I don't know why as it's not very hard to understand, our owners are only allowing the manager to spend what the club earns. it's not "generosity", the money isn't coming from their pockets.

You may finish above us next season, but let's be honest, it will probably depend on how much you spend. You are a mid-table team with your second lot of rich owners, your very, very lucky.

what's luck got to do with it? It's just good business. our owners bought the club off the banks the day we were due to go into administration. the only difference between then and now is that we have owners that allow the club to reinvest it's profits in the team, rather than bringing the club to the brink of insolvency with massive interest charges.

Most Evertonians would love an investor, but if it meant becoming the circus lfc have become, then personally, I'd rather not.

So your saying that your owners are only allowing their manager (Dalglish/ Rodgers) to spend/reinvest the profit that the team/club are making..........a bit like Man Citydry.png

nothing like man city, but yeah. under dalglish the net investment was around £35m, reports suggesting rodgers will be allowed £30m plus what he brings in through sales.

these figures are all in line with the savings we're making from the lower debt payments, which were around £40m a year under hicks.

the only time I remember us taking money off the chairman personally was a £10m loan David Moores gave us for Dirk Kuyt.

everton are a big club, you should be making much more of that

Still dont think Rogers is upto the job so he has been ineffective in transfer market and this is a squad that needs about 200mill spending on it to get it into the top four let alone winning the league. Disheartened Red http://www1.skysport...land-Sigurdsson comment 2 days ago.

Apologies if this has already been done, but i have been busy trying to enjoy a summer of non-LFC-worrying since Brendan was finally announced (i also have this old fashioned notion of enjoying summer sports in the close season - TdF anyone?).

I have had half an eye on the transfer news via Sly, but I am actually not that interested for a change. I think we have a very good squad, especially with the re-addition of the injured players and those that were on loan. We have a new manager with a strategy for success not only based on top quality players, but a system of play.

So, if we don't sign anyone, would it really be the end of the world? For me, i think it is more important to hold on to the quality players we have, in particular the back four. I am a glass half full person for sure, but would love to know everyone's thoughts.

They are truly in a world of their own, transfer window only opened today. They have 97 pages for the Sigurdsson rumour, and I thought we were bad for Moutinho.

Just to be fair there is one sensible kopite:

Dont see how what Sigurdsson's doing to us is any worse than what he did to Swansea.

Nobody said boo about him being a money grabbing mercenary when he was fucking them off to play for us and lining his pockets whilst doing so, instead we tried to believe it was because of Rodgers

. But now it looks like he's decided to go to a club where he's getting even more money still then suddenly we wouldnt want that sort of player here?

Do me a favour. Sigurdsson's been consistent all the way through. He wants to play at a good club and get paid as much as he can to do so.

People have been saying Rogers could be some kind of Anfield savior, but I really don't know what all the hype is about. They were better off with Dalglish I feel, there's little chance Rogers could deliver another two domestic Cup Finals, it was a backward move really. We will most likely finish above them in the league again, if our players play to their strengths and Moyes loses a bit of his safety first mentality, I don't see why not.

Another trophy-less season for LFC next season. I'd be very surprised if there was any end product.

Bet they won't pay £35m.....£3.5 maybetongue.png ?

suggested one year loan with a view to a £17m perm deal

Huge loss cash wise from the shite's point of view, they will have to sign a big name player this summer to keep the fans happy you would think.

Just watching the Spurs Liverpool game and both sides look very poor. Its obviously pre-season and we have looked equally as shite I would have expected to see some moments of quality but there are none!

Borini looks out if his depth (iv never seen much from him tbh), Sigurdsson looks ok but nothing more and ghe Spurs youngsters look very over-rated.

I don't know why same status teams play each other during the close season. Why have two sides from the same league play a pre season game when they will battle away anyway in a few weeks from now, or even probably play each other so many times as it is. You should have EPL teams against Championship and Leagues 2 and 3 and Continental sides and vice versa. That's pretty much how it is during the summer months but still find an all league meeting a bit questionable sometimes. Today was such an example. Hope Spurs beat that shit also.

Still think Rogers was the wrong choice as manager, he won't do as well as Dalglish last season for sure.
