But they now will, 144 voted against him in the last confidence vote, and (as of now) another 35 resignations since yesterday, that's 179 MPs against him out of 358, exactly half. And there's at least one more who's going to resign tomorrow if he doesn't go; 1922 committee elections coming up, they'll change the rules to allow another confidence vote and he'll be out. If he has a single brain cell or an ounce of dignity left (open to debate) he'll take the least messy way out and resign.

Personally hope he choses the nuclear option and calls a general election.

I don't see them setting a precedent of changing the rules for 1 man. GE is probably more likely (hopefully)

50 resigned now, he’s soon going to run out of MPs to run ministerial posts.

He still won't resign. He'll see it as a clear out and recruit from fresh. Also read yesterday that 1922 could get him voted out of being Tory leader but he could still be PM...

He’s is like Trump in so many way’s, they both lie they both can’t concede defeat and they are both mentally deranged, it wouldn’t surprise me if like Trump he encourages the far right racist to storm the Parliament building he’s such a narcissistic prick. Rewind slightly he is resigning his resignation statement is being prepared, thank fuck 3 years of bollocks will soon be over.

Resigning but staying in the role until the autumn.

Gone but not gone.

Kinda expected that he wouldn't go at all, and he's done exactly that

He's resigned from his party but still has PM job. What clusterfuck

Glad the clown has gone, but puts the country in more chaos just when we need stability, and a bit of common sense.

Time for labour to step up and show some leadership.

But he hasn't, that's the thing.
