Totally different skills needed for the two situations, Stuart Pearce was a superb penalty taker but you'd not back him in a one on one at game speed, Baines the same. Julian Dicks at West Ham? There are many examples.
I would fancy Baines in any situation. There is nothing he couldn’t do!
I miss him so much.

the hardest chance for any player to put away is a one on one, always has been and always will be.
I agree. I always think wingers and creative kind of players are better in those situations than strikers. Strikers seem to be better playing on instinct (look at Jelavic, first time finish fantastic, time to think about it garbage). Mirallas, Naismith, Gylfi, Richarlison and Pienaar, take them lot in a one on one over most strikers we’ve had in the last 20 years.

Alex Crook on TalkSPORT saying that 80% of the Premier League are on the edge of a breach. 16 out of 20 clubs!
The transfer window shows whats going on. Clubs are now scared to spend. What happens here is we now don’t get as many of the worlds best players coming here. The league ends up devaluing itself by its actions. But wait, they see this happening. So they have already got plans in place to change the rules to make sure that doesn’t happen. So when they change the rules City and Chelsea are ok, so they can carry on spending £100m on a player. During that time the damage has already been done to Everton and Forest. If I wasn’t so annoyed I’d be laughing.

How do you work that out we are not appealing because we were innocent we are appealing on the severity of the sentence. Now they seem to have come up with a formula for these breaches, which is a initial 6 points deduction if found guilty and and 1 point for every 5 million over the 105 million allowed, so I don’t see us getting a reduction in the forthcoming appeal and if found guilty on the 2nd charge we will incur a minimum 6 points deduction.
Fortunately, Mark answered your post with this post…

Seems like everything hinges on the appeal. If we win the appeal then surely it’s got to kill the second charge.

If we take another points deduction this season, and then they change the rules in the summer and it doesn’t happen to another club, it’s going to be very tough to continue to be a supporter.
All the talk of this tonight has got me thinking do I just ride it out until we’ve had our first season in Bramley-Moore, just so I’ve finished at Goodison and done the move with my Dad. It’s exhausting and it’s cruel. Our fans have complained for years and even decades about how badly run this club is, no sustainability rules stepping in the sort the club out and actually help the club be sustainable. But now they hand out punishments while City refuse to talk to them. Then they might just change the rules, probably to settle it with City so they don’t get embarrassed by their expensive lawyers.
It’s out of hand, out of order and out of control. The Premier League have no idea what they are doing and clearly are making it up as they go. This isn’t the game we’ve been watching all of our lives. This is something else and frankly it’s fucking shambles.

Went with Branthwaite. Composure and some solid defending.
Not a bad point against a decent side. -

Apparently the PL have now decided that any punishment won’t happen until after the season has finished.
A cynical person may think that’s because a club they really don’t to fuck over during the season is going to fall foul of FFP.
I’m not talking us, I mean one of the darlings.
Watch them change the rules now so that deductions only happen during pre season and we end up being the only team to get one mid season.

It might take a good few years, but if all of these planned bars and hotels go ahead it’ll be fantastic down there.

Known him on TT for the best part of two decades, I disagreed with him pretty much for two decades. I know I had a lot of respect for him and he will be missed by a lot of people here on TT
Bill made as big a contribution to this place as anyone over the years. He’s a major part of what TT is today and for that I’m grateful.
Condolences to Patto and the rest of your family.
Rest easy Bill.

Played golf with two United fans today. They heard he’ll be announced as a Sevilla player tomorrow. I’ll take great pleasure in them being wrong if we get him.

As we’ve paid a loan fee for him, they will have to pay us to terminate the loan. Hopefully that money is going into a replacement asap.

FFP is such a joke. Multiple clubs dont even know whether they've breached regulations. Meanwhile, the club operating most egregiously beyond its means, and becoming the most dominant club world football has seen in some time as a result, are just dragging their feet as much as possible and avoiding any scrutiny whatsoever by doing so.
The system is broken. Administratively it's a headache for everyone involved. And perhaps most importantly it doesn't achieve the desired result. It's incredibly tiring.
It’s mad that the transfer window could be open for two weeks before a club finds out if they are in breach and due a hearing before the end of the season. Should be closed off before the window opens so a club can’t push themselves further over the edge.

I don’t see Onana going in this window, but if he does we need to maximise what we get. No doubt there will be a big sell on clause, and we’ll need a replacement.

Haha that is true mate.
We can dream that January is going to throw up a diamond in the rough though can’t we?
Actually now we can’t, that’s unrealistic haha.
We don’t have nice things remember.

He is a good player. But when I see 20m being routed as what it will take to bring him in permanently…. I think that’s way to much.
I don't think he is a player that changes the team much if he plays or doesn’t.
He is a player that we need right now as we’re trying to change the playing philosophy into a more hard working team…. But that won’t take us forward.
We need a Danjuma type that can finish. We need a new Mirralas.
I agree.
But if we find a winger who works as hard as Harrison, gets as many chances as Danjuma, and finish like Mirallas, he’s probably going to cost about £85m and sign for City. -
