AlbanyNYToffee got a reaction from pete0 in Europa or not
Sorry to start a new thread, this question was sprinkled into a few other threads but couldn't find a logical place to weave this in.
Took a look at PL clubs who qualified for Europa League (current format started in 09-10) in lowest qualifying round:
    09-10 Liverpool 7th - finished 6th in 10-11
    10-11 Stoke 14th* - finished 13th in 11-12
    11-12 Liverpool 7th - finished 8th in 12-13
    12-13 Swansea 12th* - finished 9th in 13-14
    13-14 Hull 16th* - finished relegated in 14-15
    14-15 Southampton 7th - finished 6th in 15-16
    15-16 West Ham 7th - finished 11th in 16-17
    16-17 Everton 7th - finished 8th in 17-18
    17-18 Burnely 7th - finished between 13th and 16th this year.
*There were a few odd years, mostly due to FA/Carabao cup performances and fair play, where teams that didn't finish 7th still qualified for Europa.
FWIW we have competed in the Europa League three times (09/10, 14/15, 17/18) we have finished 8th, 11th, 8th in the PL table those years.
The stats above are just for reference, normally I'd say absolutely want Europa but I just have a feeling this year isn'tt one where it would help us. We've got a real opportunity next year to strengthen in 2-3 areas, shrink the squad, be consistent and cohesive and make a run at 4th. Europa could derail most of that. I'm in the camp with those who prefer 8th.

Life changing. That was absolutely the most amazing sporting experience of my life. As a stateside fan I chose Everton because Tim Cahill embodied everything I want in a footballer and the club was known for its familial atmosphere. Having been a fan for 10+ years now of course I was concerned that the experience/club wouldn't live up to the expectations created in my head all these years. Live up to expectations? This experience confirmed everything I was hoping for and then some. Just a spectacular day I will never ever forget.
Thank you to all the fans on this forum, and the entire fan base, for your commitment and passion to the club and your unwavering commitment to the ideals this club was founded on over 140 years ago. I have a deep appreciation for you and all of your family members from prior generations for making the club what it is today.
If we don't win another trophy in my lifetime I will die a happy man because this club represents more than wins and losses. The identity of Everton Football Club is its most valuable asset. Always has been and hopefully always will be.
I will be back to say goodbye before the move to the docks.

I think we have to remember this is Marcos highest profile job with better players/ bigger egos etc and he is learning aswell. I was his biggest critic but the players are playing for him and that’s five clean sheets out of six against teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal

Sort of off-topic but perhaps Walsh wasn't that bad?
    Good
Gana, Lookman, DCL, Pickford, Keane, Gylfi, Vlasic, Rooney
    Indifferent
Stek, Valencia, Mangala, Martina, Walcott, Tosun
    Bad
    Williams, Schneiderlin, Bolasie, Klaassen
I said Vlasic good because we're going to sell him for more than we bought him for. Walcott and Tosun indifferent because we can probably get back a decent chunk of the transfer fees in transfers and they have played well enough to justify the difference. And i really don't like Walcott.
