Have to put my hand up and say Coleman has done a good job here. Never said he was the worst player against spurs & Newcastle but I was genuinely concerned about him playing 3 games in a week.
This is a player I have the utmost respect for, let’s not get that confused. He will always put the shirt on and get on the pitch, he proved that at the end of last year with the injury he had. The last thing I want to see is him getting torn up by wingers by over doing his body - he deserves so much more than that. Credit to him, he absolutely pocketed Zaha (who was ripping teams apart single-handedly) and I couldn’t be happier for him.

We are, Frank has re built from the back, Tarks, Coady, bringing in Patterson, and a new midfield has made a huge difference. I remember all too well walking away from Goodison this time last year and fearing the worst.

Not really, my comments after the 3 defeats are actually pretty positive. 
I thought in parts of all three of those defeats we have some good moments and other that the last 10min against Spurs we where veey much still in those game.
Last season we where utterly humiliated in games. To me it's plain to see that even in defeat we look a much stronger and robust team.

It’s possible Lampard knows more than I.  Understand, I’m not conceding he does, just admitting the possibility.
I will continue to fret each time Gana Gueye acts the ACM rather than the DCM, and will continue to (1) curse the heavens each time he advances even so much as one step ahead of Iwobi/Onana, and (2) advise Frank both pre- and in-match.
I do like Frank and will not, should our boys lay an egg in some upcoming match, call for his head, nor even utter the phrase, “Frank’s lost the plot.”

Let's hope this performance can put this sort of talk to bed for a while.
There are going to be ups and downs as this new team is being built. Let's not all start panicking when we lose a few, and let's not get ahead of ourselves when we see performances like today.
Let's enjoy the ups and not get overly critical of the down. Its about a steady progression and getting some consistency in seeing more days like today. 
I believe we are finally on the right track.
 

The difference in this game was Calvert-Lewin. It wasn't simply his goal but how he allowed our team to play differently. We have a goal threat again.

Myko is seriously invisible to Gray.

That was a bit low key, I was hoping to be compared to Brazil 1970 or some such; I'm a little deflated.

He's a poacher and a target man. We need wingers doing their job before we judge his return. 

Not sure if anyone noticed, before his booking he tried to take a man out twice. One - because he reacted late to a situation he panicked and tried to take out the lad before he just shot over, he missed the lad and the lad shot over.  
 
the penalty dive, he just needed to hold up the ball. He had us in a good position. 
I would sooner try garner out wide than gordon at the moment with the order “don’t beat the man, whip it into the box” 

Saw enough in the liverpool game to see what Frank is trying to achieve.
We have been absolute dog shit the last 2 games but I assure you Frank doesn’t send them out there for us to have 1 shot all game. As mentioned above, these were 3 tricky games - yes, we haven’t gotten the results and the performances haven’t been great. Before these 3 games, i feel we were starting to look up the table. Let’s see what happens in the next 3-5 games before we start getting rash.

Because we were a mess and it takes time to undo years of crap. 6 games unbeaten until the last 3 games. There was progress, this is a set back. 

Gray gets a fair bit of stick about his workrate but he gave Mykolenko lots of support yesterday. He was constantly one of the first midfielders back in position.

Anthony is a loose canon and the sooner he reins himself in the better after tonight and following a suspension.

2nd half was much better, but we've got no creativity. I don't know why he took Iwobi off. Newcastle was a game DCL was never going to do well in on his own coming back from injury. Don't know what Myko brings other than a crap throw in, Coleman is so badly finished is heartbreaking. Gordon... less said the better but he needs to out of the limelight for a while, Gray at least did 1 or 2 things but otherwise impotent. Gana sloppy but not bad, Onana is really getting on my tits with his flapping about and falling over. 

We desperately missing Patterson in an attacking sense.

Absolutely dismal this. The amount of times we go from a half decent area to our keeper is pathetic 

All the possession in the world and 0 threat

There is not a massive amount between us and Newcastle in all honest, just that bit of quality in the final third.
