Brentford aren’t going to make an offer so he will be heading back to us
I don’t think this is a dead deal just yet. The problem is that Brentford know how desperate we will be for cash and know that the £10m option is more than they’ll need to pay most likely.

Haji Wright at Coventry is worth looking at too I reckon.
I like him and know he’s played a lot on the left but not sure I’d see him as a left winger in this league - if Dom or Beto were to leave, then definitely.

Leeds will start the summer, promoted or not, with Summerville, Gnonto, Sinisterra, Dan James and Harrison as their wing options… we’ll have McNeil, Young (if he renews), Dobbin and Stanley Mills. We need at least 2 wingers this summer. In my opinion, Leeds not being promoted would be good for us as Harrison on-loan or a lowish fee would at least offer continuity. With him and McNeil playing, we’ve been solid, not always that exciting, sometimes very frustrating but solid - part of why we’ve earned 48points this season. I see McNeil and Harrison as solid/reliable performers - good foundations to build on. We need to add a bit of flair and more importantly PACE to this now.
Going back to a previous comment about scouting the Championship - I like the look of Rowe at Norwich and Fellows at West Brom. Villa did well snapping up Rodgers from Middlesbrough.

Probably because we’ve been leaking goals left, right and centre over the past couple of seasons but have had one of the best defensive records in the league this season with Sean Dyche as our manager. Were not pretty on the eye at times but at least we’re consistently well organised, generally well motivated and despite our limitations, always a threat on set-pieces.
Dyche may not be the long-term answer for our beautiful club but he’s more than earned his stripes this season with a smallish squad and knock after knock after knock. It would be pure stupidity to look elsewhere considering our still precarious situation off the field. Stability at management level at least please especially when you factor in we’re likely to be losing a few first team players this summer.

Brereton-Diaz certainly won't have a relegation release clause because he's a Villarreal player.
…and not very good either.

Been so impressed with him - I think he was who we had earmarked as Onana’s replacement but obviously Palace could make the move in January and I think they’ve got an absolute gem and a steal at £18m (which is supposedly £6m x3 instalments). Eze, Olise and now Wharton- Palace have been the masters of plucking from the Championship in recent years.

Fuck me, I hate this thread.
Just wait until we sell Dom and replace him with Che Adams on a free. I can genuinely see this happening by the way.
DCL would be pure profit for PSR/FFP whereas someone like Onana would still have outstanding payments on our side so wouldn’t actually help us that much. Sadly, the profit is in Branthwaite and Dom and with Dom’s contract nearing the final year, I think he’ll be gone first.
I think Brownhill replaces Onana and we’ll actually pay a bit for Greaves from Hull to replace Branthwaite.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Think you’ve nailed it there…
maybe Joel Ward, James Tomkins, Andros Townsend, Jay Rodriguez, Nathan Redmond if any of the above are wrong.
Definitely Milner, Young and Evans though.

Catastrophic in the defence for us. Yeah, thanks a fucking bunch for that.
I do, however, wish him the best of luck with his "new life" off the pitch.
One of the best defences in the league and Young has played his part… he’s made mistakes - as they all have but he’s certainly not been catastrophic.

Young’s been a useful player in a small squad with questionable quality. He’s covered 3 positions and been fit available for the majority of the season. He’s had some poor performances but actually, some very solid ones too. In an ideal world, we don’t need to sign geriatrics like Young but in our current predicament, he’s been sound. I bet he’s been a positive influence in the changing room too.
Despite all the positives, I hope we don’t offer him a new deal but am grateful he was part of an improving (compared to the previous 2 years) EFC this season.

It’s more than likely going to be even tighter than the past 2/3 summers and factor in we actually have to start paying for Beto this summer. Frees, loans and delayed fees even after big sales.
With Gomes, Alli and Gueye out of contract. Onana likely to be sold for a decent fee and I’m not ruling out Doucoure to Saudi - central midfield is the only place to start.
Josh Brownhill is a nailed on free transfer in my opinion - I don’t mind him - decent honest pro and takes a good set piece.
Other realistic (free) options are:
Callum O’Hare
Wilfried Ndidi
Ross Barkley
Ben Johnson
Che Adams
Lloyd Kelly
Not the most exciting list but think we’ll see a few of these players at EFC next season.

I can see Martinez leaving Villa in the summer for a Barca/Real profile. I can see Villa coming in for Pickford.

Branthwaite for his pure quality but special mention to Young for the foresight to bribe the VAR officials.

I really like the look of him - looked like he was off to Atalanta in Jan and said then it looked a steal for them. I hope we’re in for him.
