chicagoblue got a reaction from Bailey in What's up with jelly?
The difference being that Modric provided a perfect slide rule pass into the box for him to take two steps towards and turn to fire. He hasn't had a single ball like that, or so it feels, with us all season. Really think a big part of his struggles recently is the kind of service we're not giving him.

Confidence boost is great, proper service is more important. Hopefully Osman/Mirallas can start to provide it again.

The third one was Howard's fault IMO. Before the move which Aston Villa scored from they put in a piss poor cross which could have easily been collected as it was inside Tim's six-yard box. For some strange reason however he left it to Distin who managed a piss poor clearance (due to him expecting Howard to come and collect) and from there Villa put it back into the box and scored.

Had Tim come for the ball and taken it we would never have had to defend at all.

I think he looks good despite his team mates not being very good. Big, strong, fast targetman, good feet, already scored 22 goals in all competitions this season. If they go down, he'll be wanting out which might make a deal easier to make.

    One thing is for sure.

Now the media know we can even vaguely possibly spend £8.5m, we're going to be linked with every available player between now and the end of the window.

Then probably ongoing in to the summer as well!

A lot of people are blaming Everton here and not really getting to grips with our current situation, or that of other clubs.

Buying and selling players is a bit like buying and selling houses.

You speak to the agents, and scout around a little yourselves, and if you see something you like, you make an enquiry. Then the other club need to weigh up if the deal is good for them, and whether they could replace to their benefit, and so a chain begins.

Then, just like having a survey done on the house, you do background checks on the player and put him through a medical, in order to protect your potential investment, and that is presuming that you have the finances in place to do the deal.

There is a huge amount of effort coming from our club to keep the club on track, from top to bottom, and I'd like it more if our fans didn't automatically jump on the clubs back when the club rightly work within their boundaries.

A press officer from the justice department (Nicolette Stoel) has said that Fer is expected to appear before a "Officer of Justice" (I don't think there's a similar function in the British justice system), not before a judge. Which means he's wanted for a misdemeanor or less. They're going to offer a settlement which would have him either pay a fine or do community service. He can't be punished harder than that. They won't comment on what he supposedly did to protect his privacy. A lot of Dutch fans seem to think it was actually Munsterman himself who leaked rumours about his partying and legal problems to Derksen to convince their fans that they haven't got a bad deal selling him now.

According to Leon ten Voorde of newspaper Tubantia (similar to Greg O'Keeffe and the Echo for Everton) Fer's agent Rob Jansen is still in Liverpool and Everton aren't concerned about his legal issues. The problem is his knee, they tested his knee three times before they gave the go ahead.

Well there isn't really hiding things when it gets to the stage to they're coming over to complete a medical would have been good if we could have kept the quoted figures and how much we have to pay away from the press and perhaps not announce the deal so certainly when thinking its bit quite a done deal

I know its frustrating but how can you possibly blame this on the club?

Surely Everton are doing the right thing, would you rather they just ignored the medical advice?

Hope I've been around here long enough that the author of the thread is recognisable, wouldn't want to upset anyone in regards to who starts the ever-sacred West Brom match thread.

In my opinion we need to blow these fellas off the park to get some momentum going again. We've hit a real lull in this post-Christmas period so far, and scraped in by the skin of our teeth against Bolton. To break into the top 4 we need some momentum, especially before we hit the likes of United at OT, City and Tottenham again. Therefore I would absolutely love to see us play them off the park, but in all likeliness that won't happen.

Also think it's about time Moyes drops Jelavic and plays Vic or Vellios upfront.

Heart says a comfortable 2-0 win.

Head says a scrappy draw is coming our way.

chicagoblue reacted to Teo7 in Mirallas Injury
Hi Everton fans. I'm from Greece, Olympiakos fan and i check your forum now and then to see how Kevin is doing there. Sad to see him injured again. I saw some of your posts worrying about him being prone to injuries so i thought i should inform you that Kevin has also had 3 hamstring injuries while he was here. One when he first arrived, one early last season and one early this summer. First two were not that serious, he was out for about 3 weeks and then he was almost perfectly fit all season, only some minor problems that kept him out 1-2 games.
After this summer's injury it took him more than a month to recover , although everyone here thought that he was delaying his return because he was afraid of another injury before he completed the transfer to your team. Truth or not, the point is that he completely missed the basic stage of training and you know how important that is for any football player after almost 2 months of vacation. So that might be the main reason for his lack of fitness.
I understand your frustration but dont worry, Mirallas needs his time to find his rythm and to be on top form . Once he does he will start scoring as well.

I feel like people honestly just ignore whatever I post (except duncanmckenzieismagic)..... It was clear what Moyes was doing and it was NOT a defensive substitution.

It was desperate because he decided that we we playing so badly that we needed to have someone up there for out hoof balls but the substitution was not just going to a draw.
I am not saying it was the best idea but he clearly knew what he was doing and it paid off.

chicagoblue reacted to Avinalaff in Who would you sell ? Fellaini v Baines
For me, it would be Baines.

We have Oviedo already in the squad, and that means we can immidiately cover Baines' position with 'another' attacking Left Back. Whether he proves to offer what Baines does remains to be seen, but the early signs are there that he is an exciting player with speed.

We can then use the money to bolster our midfield.

Baines is 28, where as Fellaini is 25.

The only issue I have is that Baines is English. He is our dead ball specialist too, but there are others also, such as Jelavic and Gibson, not to mention Hitz.

If we lose Fellaini, we also lose an icon.

He can put us on the world wide map in the same way that Beckham succeeded, and the financial opportunities are huge, especially if Belgium do well. Without him, we would have a big hole in the team, that I feel is harder to fill.

No. "Would've been" is correct; "would have been" isn't. It's meaningless.

Just because it sounds right when you say it doesn't make it grammatically accurate .

Felli playing too far forward. Ossie playing too deep. Peanuts playing too central, Naismith playing in England. And the defence won't pass to neville because he loses possesion so we end up with this horredous long ball stuff. He can't score if nobody gives him the ball in the right place.

service to him has changed. Hes having to work, whereas when he came everything arrived at his feet, so he didnt need to think nor make an effort, meaning he was fresh to get 1-2 yard burst at the last second. Hes also marked much closer I think....
