pete0 got a reaction from chicagoblue in James Rodríguez
One is a football genius, the other just a bloke who wants to manage a club near his home. It's not quite personal differences, it's completely different levels of seeing/playing football.

There are 2 reasons he is still with us. 1) he has a contract, and 2) no one came in with a decent offer for him.
He joined to play football for Carlo. Carlo fucked off and he feels lost. He needs support more than ever, and yet we have people making shit up and adding 10k to his wages by the post, as if that has anything to do with things anyway.
Can we get behind the lad please? He is a magician of a player, but can't defend. Cater to that when we can and we get the best out of him. James at his best is worldclass. If we can't cater to him (I.e. when Coleman gets injured and we have no RB), then he's an excellent option from the bench if we need to attack.
This all comes down to how Rafa manages him in my opinion, and I'm hoping he gets the balance right, and I think he will. As Steve pointed out earlier, last time he managed him he played a lot of games, got quite a few goals and assists too. This "snubbed" bullshit needs to stop, just as complaining about his ever increasing wages does too. Want to be angry about wages? Look up Delph.

Thanks mate. Got tickets for Burnley and Norwich, so might see him after all.
Well it’s either him or Delpth!

Remember when Moyes went to Sunderland and we all laughed at him taking our dregs. Welcome Rondon and Townsend.

No issue with Walcott. Never have. The rest is all a bit of a mess and some rotten luck with Gbamin.

It beats me why Benitez refuses to embrace his talents. The BBC site states that James is as out of favour with Benitez as out of favour can be. That's ridiculous, in my book. James is world-class. Coached properly, he can make a big difference.

I’d like to hear all those Arsenal fans moan about about life under Wenger again and only finishing 4th in the league.

When he's on the pitch it's a 50% chance that he's the one involved with scoring a goal. Creative genius.

Before Rafa took over would any of our fans got rid of James for Townsend?

Weird thing is a lot of our fans are happy with this. Imagine if we still had Ancelotti, no way would we be happy bringing in the players we have. It's like Rafa coming has lowered our expectations. Nsno straight out the window.

Must be a real worry for some that so many reports claim Yerry Mina earns more money than James.

Why? £10m a year for an option actually sounds reasonable in this day and age. James is exactly the player to pick up points against top 4 teams, he's already proven that.

James probably finds Gray in the box where Doucoure couldn’t get it out of his feet. Love Doucoure and what he brings to the team but technically he is dogshit compared to James. I would play the 2 of them advanced preferably where possible.
You’ve made your opinion perfectly clear you believe he doesn’t fit. I want to see him in a team with the dynamic front 3 we have. Last year we were far to slow with him and Gylfi.
Edit - For the record, physically James is dogshit compared to Doucoure.

You are talking such rubbish here and just looking at half facts as usual. James was shipped out for free when he was in contract (will be twice if we do it). Messi was free as he his contract run out and Barca fucked up big time. Different types of free.
Trying to make the arguement that some time ago James sold for £40m and then £70m but Messi move for a free, must thus somehow mean James is better (or simiar level) that Messi is what you might hear in a primary school playground.
James not worthy of being mentioned in the same paragraph as Messi or other truly world best players.
And the reason his manager didn't like him!! It was becasue he Just didn't bring enough of a rounded game to the table. His 'pluses' where not good enough to out weigh the 'negatives'.
James has been shipped from pillar to post over the past few seasons for free (even though he is in contract) and I am also guessing for ever decreasing wage packets. He is not the world class player you make him out to be, and the footballing world appear to be of a similar opinion.
I am not saying he is shit or usless or anything like that. He is just a luxury player that some managers are just happy to do without - and I get it.
I would love to see his moments of genius in Everton shirt, but not at overall detrement to the progression of the team under Benitez over the next few seasons.
