Great column that, agree with everything he's said.
The faults as he points out fall on both Carlo's tactics going into games and the players.  We may not have the players that Carlo wants to play the football he wants but we must surely be able to adapt better to prove a greater threat against teams like Sheffield United.
Bottlers indeed, they've shown time and time again how up for it they are against the "big boys" putting in good hard working performances to get the unexpected result, but when we are expected to win and the challenge is to break a team down and create chances they don't seem to  be up to doing it, or up to the fight of just outplaying the opposition.
I'm not sure about the coaching aspect but certainly could be something to be addressed in there.

We'll be lucky to finish above Leeds in 10th at the moment!
God knows how we've managed to be in a position where Arsenal look likely to finish above us after the season they've had.

Well done Haf! You found a post where i quoted solid performance and being happy.
Maybe next time read my question " playing good football "?
Solid performance? resolute at the back! controlled in midfield whilst taking chances up front.
Spurs away was probably one of the best performances of the season.
    Moving on.
West Brom- beat a side who had 10 men for over 45 mins
Palace- VAR pen which wouldn't be given now.
Brighton- Good win but Brighton at home.
Derby- VAR again saved the day- Pickford lucky to be on the pitch.
Then shit shows against Saints and Newcastle!
In between these we played some good football with a 2nd string team in the cup against  lower league teams.
    Going back to solid performances.
Leicester, leeds, Wolves, Sheff U, Liverpool away.
    Chelsea, Arsenal home
    Dogged fortunate wins!
West Brom away Fulham away ( battered us 2nd half ) Saints home.
Not going into our dreadful home defeats!!!
I'm still over the moon to have Carlo as a manager as we wouldn't have the players in if it wasn't for him. I'm happy with every single signing. I understand he needs time and money to build his own team and we are 6-7 players away from being his team.
This aside, i still haven't been convinced with our style of football this season! Last night playing 6 defenders fucking shocked me! No confidence what so ever with our academy lads.
This is a site for voicing opinions and no one will change my mind.
" We do not play good football under Carlo" .........YET!

The big difference is if we had those three players in the starting 11 we might have had a better chance. The real gulf in class was that they brought on Mount, Kante and Pulisic.
With our best 11 out the most we can bring on is King, Bernard or Gylfi.
We don’t have the squad depth or options to change things.

Looks the most likely line up though to be pedantic Richarlison would be on the left and DCL on the right!

I can see where @Bailey is coming from, there were periods where we were relying on our defenders to put in challenges in and around the box to stop them teeing something up.  The defense handled them brilliantly but they were getting very close and the Liverpool side with the confidence and fluency of last season would have probably managed to get one through.
That said we have done similar in other big games this season and come away with points and right now that is the how best for us to play against those teams.
I'd love to see us going toe to to toe with the top teams and looking every bit as good as them and able to attack them and look like the better team but right now I think Carlo has us set up well to play to our strengths and come away with points in games where we're not the favourite.
I'd say in the second half we could definitely have been going for the kill a bit more and too often resorted to punting it away and not pushing out when had we had a bit more composure we could have have troubled their centre backs more.  I'll accept though that the players were probably feeling the pressure of the game situation and not taking chances, being more cautious than they would otherwise be.  That's not Carlo's decision though and I saw him on camera at one point urging them to get out.
I don't think we have any tactical problems in these games, it's the games where we are expected to win that he needs to master

fingers crossed it's not a full on pulled hamstring that sees him out for the next month.
Didn't seem too bad when he came off and hopefully was taking precaution coming off before it could get any worse.
I was thinking it would be good to start King on Sunday anyway and rest DCL for the next 2 big games but that looks probably forced now!  Hopefully he'll be back for next week though.

    That attacking run he made...
His athleticism and strength is outstanding that's without mentioning his defending!
top top signing that's settled in better than anyone could have hoped

You're never going to get perfect performance from a keeper all of the time, very very few keepers will ever give you that but as well his great saves I also felt he commanded his area better than Pickford does.  Maybe his size helps with this but I felt a lot more confident at times with him there.

I know he assisted 2 of our 3 goals last night, created numerous other chances that weren't finished off, made the game look effortless etc but I really wish he'd chased back towards his own goal a bit more, closed down the Sheffield Wednesday players a bit more. And, god, he looked so unhappy out there and didn't look like he was having fun with his team mates at all!
Should only be a bench player until he sorts that out.

James had more passes than anyone apart from Doucoure last night, unusual as usually the most passes are the centre backs of centre mids for us.  81 passes.
Only 3rd (equal) most accurate passes then he's trying to do a bit more with it than Doucoure or Holgate!  69 out of 81 isn't bad going considering some of the passes he played!  Such as the 8 key passes! (out of 15 total for the team)
One random start that Sheffield Wednesday won on...most dribbles!  they attempted a pretty mad 20 and 9 were successful, we were 3 with 1 successful!  We just preferred to pass them off the park!

    lol 😂
My bad for not reading previous posts before seeing yours!
And there was me thinking about looking through the highlights to pull out a picture of him smiling in an embrace with the team when they ran over to him to celebrate the 3rd goal!

One thing it did show was our lack of depth up top.
Yes we came away with a win, and that’s great. But we could play that game again and get a totally different result.

For long periods, we just kept the ball at the back, because as soon as we moved it forward we lost it. We won the game through two moments of magic.

I mentioned in the MoM thread, that no one stood out at all. No one was bad either, but it was a strange game, and one I wouldn’t want to see is set up the same again.

DCL v West Ham (79 Mins)

    31 touches
    4 losses of possession
    1 Interception
    0 key passes
    21 passes with a 66.7% accuracy.

DCL v Sheff Utd (90 Mins)

    39 touches
    3 losses of possession
    0 interceptions
    1 key pass
24 passes with an accuracy of 75%

DCL v Man Utd (90 Mins)

    31 touches
    5 losses of possession
    0 interceptions
    0 key passes
21 passes with an accuracy of 71.54%

This suggests that from a statistical point of view that he performed as adeptly as DCL in the metrics you have quoted.
I also think he performed well enough given the circumstances but at the same time, it was nothing to write home about. As StevO says, he did a job for the team.

Agree with that team as long as Digne is feeling fit and well after today's game.
Good to have pretty much first choice line up available again
Hopefully see a performance to match

It was as a precaution because he felt something in training.
He's been posting pictures of him training within the past few days so he should be fine.
