Seems like that is just their editorialization of the situation. Moshiri doesn't seem to have Abramovich's need to constantly be in the public eye, and I personally don't see any signs that the club is a vanity showpiece for him. Obviously, he would like to make money out of it and not run a charity. So, there's that. But, so far, from what I've seen, he is personally investing, looking to find space and finance a new stadium, and is making appear to be shrewd decisions in the interests of the club. He said all the right things when he invested, pointing to the type of club we have and its history. He's reportedly been affable with fans.

If he suddenly becomes a vane monster who makes outlandish statements in the press and unduly rocks the proverbial boat in player/manager affairs, then I'll change my tune. But, so far, all I see is someone trying to turn the club around from the plucky, benign, mid-table side we've become and restore us to where we belong: on top. I hate the way that mega money has changed the nature of the game as much as anyone, but we can either look towards the past and deplore the present state of the game or we can focus on the future. Now, adapting to the big-money nature of things doesn't have to mean we lose our identity. We have done very well to embrace our history and situate the club as family club, and we can keep that appreciation of our history and structure all while moving forward economically and being shrewd in our business sense. It's not necessarily an either/or proposition. We can have our cake and eat it, too.

Can't see the rationale behind it, he is stealing a wage and more importantly I would rather see Tom Davies given a go

the sad thing is that regarless of who we sign to replace lukaku, Haf will be fighting tooth and nail to prove he's better than lukaku regardless of goals scored. i'm excited for the comical stats (km ran per match, etc) to appear.

Just sounds bitter to me. If he'd come out and said he was staying he'd of credited Koeman for all that and called him Graddhopper.

I just dont get why men (boys) assume that they should be better than girls at playing fifa. Its not as if strength etc makes any difference, its all about who has the most practice.

Moyes' post-Everton behavior is much ado about nothing in my opinion. Sometimes I think football fans just look for something to be angry at.

Fans will ensure Moyes doesn't come back. But I'm not 100% against it. I'd prefer something else but we could do a lot worse. Neville can do1.

    Well, mine would be:

    1. Emery:
Probably the most promising young manager at the moment.
    + Young.
    + Tactically masterful
    + Good man-manager.
+ Wins trophies. First manager ever to win three back-to-back ELs.
    + Bielsa-like obsession about football.
    - His English is not very good.
    - His away record this season was poor. This is offset by the fact last season it wasn't too bad (10 wins, 2 draws, seven losses and a positive GD).
    - His only job outside Spain didn't go well.

    2. Pellegrini:
    + PL experience.
    + Would attract top players.
+ Has done an excellent job at two clubs in somewhat similar situations.
    + Players respect him.
+ Was able to keep Villareal going for a long time, so seems to be able to keep the team and approach fresh over time.
    + Very experienced.
+ Can work with and without a DoF unlike other candidates.
    - Motivation? If his main motivation for the job is that he doesn't need to move houses == pass.
    - Couldn't motivate his team after Guardiola was announced.
    - How much hand did he have with this season's City team building? Bequiristan is the DoF, but was Pellegrini totally powerless? E.g. he had no chance to fix the defence that was overly reliant on Kompany and the signings who were poor?

    3. Favre:
+ Tactically sound. His teams play a good, yet solid style.
+ Has done a good job at pretty much every club.
    + Good at developing youth.
    + Bundesliga is full
    - Issues with his man-management. I've heard he doesn't really talk to his players and if you end up on the wrong side of him, you don't get a second chance.
    - Questionmarks over his stress handling after he quit his last job suddenly.
    - AFAIK, doesn't speak English.
    - Eventually teams seem to go stale.

    4. Koeman:
    + Experience in the PL.
+ Has done a good job rebuilding Soton after their stars were sold.
    + Decent style...
    - But nothing to get excited about.
    - A disaster at his previous job.
    - Would he jump ship next summer if Arsenal came calling?

    5. De Boer:
    + Well-known name.
    + Youth development.
+ Got Ajax back on track after several poor seasons.
    - Has lost a two-horse race twice in a row now.
    - Tactically inflexible.
    - Only been to one club so far, and in his native country. Comfort-zone?
    - Not a good record in Europe.

Those are the strongest candidates linked with the club. I would also like to see Rudi Garcia and Eduardo Berizzo considered. Watford's new man, Mazzarri could also been a good candidate.

I wouldn't hire De Boer, mainly because if he doesn't have success straight away the fans will be on him immediately as he plays the same kind of conservative possession-based game as Martinez. Think it's time for more of a direct, counter-attacking manager, preferably one that also focuses on high-defensive pressure.

Great counter attacking performance. Can't think of anyone who had a bad game really. Everyone in the back 4 were immense. Garbutt especially, called for him to get more time in the academy thread as he's looked really good for England U21's and I was fuming he didn't play against west ham but fair play to Hibbo because he was good against west ham but he was superb tonight. Perisic is a very good player but Hibbo dealt with him well.

Rom did well to recover after almost losing it for his goal and showed a real touch of class for the assist for Mirallas. Kev did really well considering his lack of match fitness. More of that please Kev!

Awsome result when you consider the run they were on and they had to win that to be in with a shout of winning the group. And considering the players we had missing. Coleman, Naismith, Barry, McCarthy, Baines. We have a very good squad at the minute.

Saw this on twitter that made me laugh

"Samuel Eto'o has just apologised to Tony Hibbert for not playing him in with a pass.

    Welcome to Everton Fc 2014/15"

There were family issues in his youth (which is why he now plays with Memphis on his shirt rather than his last name) and he had a reputation for having trouble with authority as a teen. Threatened to quit football and such because he had trouble with critical youth coaches.

PSV are incredibly happy with his attitude now though. Here's a long piece on him in the leading football magazine in Holland which says that the former problem child has been an exemplary professional for over two years now and has basically transformed into the perfect son-in-law. Confident, not arrogant. And that he has an incredible drive to be decisive.

I thought Alcaraz was very good in the first half as well, was about to post it at the time until Jutkiewicz overpowered him to get a shot in and decided to shut up.
