Toffee_in_LA Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Bony and Sigurdsson are really starting to link up well, this is not going to be an easy game by any stretch, especially if Alcaraz has a couple of nervous moments like he did today. We are at home though so we need to put our best lineup out and take the win here. Quote
markjazzbassist Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 yes swansea have looked good, sigurdsson is so underrated in my opinion, bony doing well too. going to be a tough match, but hopefully we can avenge that league cup loss. we need the strongest lineup for this one i believe, must win to keep the momentum going and to keep rising up the table. Romey 1878 Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 We don't have a mid-week game this week so there should be no excuse to not play our strongest side. Quote
MC11 Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 We don't have a mid-week game this week so there should be no excuse to not play our strongest side. What is the strongest side though? Eto'o, Naismith Barkley all staking claim. Quote
Romey 1878 Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 What is the strongest side though? Eto'o, Naismith Barkley all staking claim. So play all three. Matt 1 Quote
Keith B Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 I liked our finishing lineup today--Barkely right behind Eto'o. Start those guys together and I think they'll make some things happen. Maybe bring in Lukaku off the bench for 30 minutes. Form is mostly improving overall, hope to keep it going next weekend. Quote
markjazzbassist Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 So play all three. yeah i was working on a lineup howard coleman alcaraz jags baines mccarthy barkley barry naismith lukaku eto'o or howard coleman alcaraz jags baines mccarthy barry naismith barkley eto'o lukaku Quote

Pearso Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Howard Coleman Alcaraz Jags Baines McCarthy Barry Besic Eto'o Barkley Lukaku Snuff out their wingers and play through the middle I like this. I want to see all three of Eto'o, Barkley and Lukaku starting in our strongest line up. Naismith has staked a huge claim for himself and credit to him, but he's completely wasted on the wing IMO. Play him through the centre or not at all, and as good as he's been he's not going to force Eto'o or Barkley to the bench. Quote
djsunyc Posted October 27, 2014 Author Report Posted October 27, 2014 eto, barkley, lukaku + mirallas all on the pitch at the same time has me salivating...but alas, that's not anytime soon... Quote

Cornish Steve Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) Howard Coleman Alcaraz Jags Baines McCarthy Barry Besic Eto'o Barkley Lukaku But such a setup lacks width. Edited October 27, 2014 by Cornish Steve Quote
Deacs Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 It would be asking an awful lot of the full backs. Quote
Btay Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 Howard Coleman Alcaraz Jags Baines McCarthy Barry Besic Eto'o Barkley Lukaku Snuff out their wingers and play through the middle This works for Coleman but not so much Baines.. I thought he struggled a bit in periods without having a winger to make runs off and over lap, where as Coleman relishes the space because he can burn just about any one in the league for pace Gusto181 1 Quote
Matt Posted October 27, 2014 Report Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) What is the strongest side though? Eto'o, Naismith Barkley all staking claim. As Romey says, play all three and have them switch around during the game: ................Howard................ Coleman Jags Alcaraz Baines ..........Barry McCarthy......... Eto'o Barkley Naismith ................Lukaku................ Need Eto'o to be the one dropping back to get the ball. Between him and Ross there are 2 players with quick feet who can take the ball from the defensive players and bring it up. Edited October 27, 2014 by Matt Quote

Exactly with players of that quality you would expect them to be fluid and interchangeable. I think they are good and intelligent enough to make it work well. Quote

Matt Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 As long as Osman doesn't play I'm happy. So long as he doesn't start for me. He has shown a couple of times this season that as an impact player he is quite good. Certainly not got the legs for 90 mins Quote

Romey 1878 Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Id be happy with this but switch Etoo and Lukaku around. Lukaku should not be played out wide. It's worked in one game, and the rest of the time he's looked awful out there. GoodisonRoad 1 Quote
Paddock Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Lukaku should not be played out wide. It's worked in one game, and the rest of the time he's looked awful out there. Agree with this, he needs to be the central man. I'd have Barkley wide and Eto'o behind personally. Quote
Matt Posted October 31, 2014 Report Posted October 31, 2014 Id be happy with this but switch Etoo and Lukaku around. I agree with Romey, he shouldn't be out wide. He is the person to feed. That said, no reason we cannot have all 4 attackers rotating, 3 of which are capable of leading the line. That would give the defence a real head ache. Quote
Deacs Posted November 1, 2014 Report Posted November 1, 2014 I do agree that in our best available line up Eto'o and Lukaku would both start, but with the Lille game on Thursday and a very winnable game against Sunderland on Sunday I think it would be a mistake to start them both today. Quote
Sideliner Posted November 1, 2014 Report Posted November 1, 2014 game not broadcast live in South Africa - Swansea is tough nut to crack - we need to start with proper back 4 to avoid conceding early and catch them on the break which will give Lukaku more space - hope we play our strongest squad - we need this win - we could go above a few big dogs on the table if we do Quote
