hes been crap TV this time round because of the dictators at the FA not allowing him to be himself; passionate, outspoken, fun. Hes just looked sad And dejceted after every game, and its not down to the defeats. They've done the same with Mourihno too, it's a real shame we can't enjoy the characters beneath their surfaces, that was part of their charm

We've got 15 points after 8 games, exactly the same amount as we did last year, which was one of the best starts to the season in Moyes' reign. So I looked at the games we've played this season and compared the results to the comparable game last year:
Norwich away, 1 point this season (0 last season)
West Brom home, 1 point this season (3 points last season)
Cardiff away, 1 point this season (0 points in Reading away last season, winner of the Championship the year before)
Chelsea home, 3 points this season (0 points last season)
West Ham away, 3 points this season (3 points last season)
Newcastle home, 3 points this season (1 point last season)
Man City away, 0 points this season (1 point last season)
Hull home, 3 points this season (3 points last season against Southampton, second in the Championship the year before).
Which means we have 15 points now compared to 11 points last season from comparable games.
 
We were eliminated in the third round of the League Cup both years, against Fulham this season, Leeds last season.

This. See Spurs under Harry Redknapp. They'd always look like sure Champions League material the first 1/2-2/3 of the season, then they'd collapse. Why? Redknapp only used 14-15 players regularly and they'd all be tired come March. Dempsey would be a far better/threatening option off of the bench than Naismith, Osman, and I wouldn't mind rotating the squad and giving him a start, unlike Naismith... Some of you really do have a small club mentality, or you just don't understand what type of squad is needed to compete for fourth.
See Pete0's post. But a good offer came in for him. The Sounds made a good offer to bring a top American back to MLS, and they offered Dempsey some of the highest wages in that league.

Is it apathy or is it realism?
 
Let me start by saying yes Moyes had a case to answer as to why we always choked on the big occasion but generally speaking I think its fair to say he did a fantastic job while he was here and the club was undoubtedly in a far better position when he left than when he arrived
 
Hopefully Martinez can take us onto the next level, but even if he does the previous regime should still be given some credit for giving him such a solid platform to build on. We finished 6th last season but it could have been so much better if we hadn't have ran out of steam. Where could we have finished if we had a Lukaku last season?
 
Its been the same story for years, our starting XI has been quality but weve had no depth, is that down to apathy?

Its not apathy that has held this club back . it is money
 
Some fans recognise this and appreciate the good job the club are doing under the circumstances, it doesn't make them apathetic , it makes them realistic
 
Other fans behave like spoilt brats whose parents cant afford the top toys and the best clothes so they stamp their feet and moan and whinge constantly because they want everything and they want it yesterday
 
There is absolutely nothing wrong with aspiring to be better but at times a little dose of realism needs to be added
 
It wasn't that long ago that we were constantly battling against relegation, but hey at least we still had Bellefield.... some fans need to refresh their club history

You just cant help yourself can you? Do us all a favour and have a look at the amount of posts someone has created before you bite their heads off. As far as I know we dont have a limit on how many threads we can create and even if we did, how is a first time poster supposed to know? You go on about posting etiquette (ie creating unnecessary threads etc) but how about some common decency on how to make new posters welcome?

Mark Noble not capped, but the likes of Cleverley, Henderson, and Shelvey get a nice head warmer. Zaha moves to Utd, gets capped instantly, OAC who barely got cameos for Arsenal gets called up although players like Dyer and Routledge were playing out their skin and still got overlooked.

It's great winning a race, but stick Michael Schumacher in a Lada and he will finish last. Stick them all in Lada's and my granny in a Formula 1 and she will be crowned World Champion at the end of the year. She certainly wouldn't be the best driver though.
 
I look upon the Mourinhos and Guardiola's as fortunate. It is impossible to label them as the best without acknowledging their circumstances.

Like I've said before, this is my opinion (and those of a lot of other people) but for some reason there is a massive taboo about going against homosexuality. It's not as if I'm going round like the KKK spreading hate against gays, I just don't agree with it and wouldn't wear anything on my kit to promote/accept it if I were a footballer.

But the penalty would've put them in front....you can't assume Romania would still have scored a second goal in those circumstances.

I think Pienaar could be the perfect foil for Lukaku, plus I'm sure there's still life in the Baines/Pienaar affair!
