Ange Postecoglou is the new Spurs boss.

I think that is a really good appointment. I wasn't sure he would get such a good gig on the back of Celtic but fair play to him. It will be interesting to see what he can do there given how badly Conte failed. I can see them scoring a lot more goals next season.

He looks like he's the understudy to the guy in Stranger Things, which seems fitting for Spurs.

Watching US Open at the moment, the length of some of the Par 3s go up to 300 yards and if you don’t stay on the green the rough around the fringes is like a jungle. Really difficult course and not a place to be playing at if you’re wayward, didn’t realise LA was so green.

A 536yd par four today as well, madness.

Tommy Fleewood having a great round today, but sadly started too far back.

£110.00 for a shirt do you get a player with that as well.

When I was a child, I would write to teams in all four divisions asking for signed photographs. Most of them would send something back, including actual signatures from some of the players. In an age when it now appears to be all about making money, I wonder how many teams would respond in this way today?

When I took Josh to his first Goodison game in 2006 (beating Villa 4-1), I got a great photo of Leon Osman celebrating his goal in front of the family enclosure. Sent the club a copy of the pic asking if they could get Ossie to sign it for him, was returned signed a few days later, still in a frame on his bedroom wall.

Seventeen years ago admittedly but just saying it didn't stop in the sixties.

I've asked Everton for 2 things, they delivered on both.

Not many Cornish, I think the times we grew up in as children with all the innocence and the wondrous things we imagined and amused ourselves with aren’t there anymore, as you say the dollar 💵 is definitely King now, shame really but at least we have our memories of a less commercialised way of life and the enjoyment of doing the simple and meaningful things like writing a letter and waiting with great pleasure for a reply. Oh the nostalgia it’s making feel all warm, no fuck it I’ve just pissed myself one of the less glamorous things about getting older😂

Let me not come across the wrong way by commenting further in the Cricket thread, but I would like to raise the topic of sportsmanship. Do we now see teams pushing to win at all costs at the expense of fair play (and a common description of the English character is its sense of fair play)? Personally, I applaud those who believe in it, such as Bielsa in this famous incident. But has society as a whole now succumbed to the idea that winning is everything?

And plenty of people thought Leeds' goal was justified "according to the rules".

I remember Arsenal’s infamous goal which was scored directly from a throw into to win the game, when the opposition had kicked it out so a player could receive treatment, the unwritten rule is to return the ball to the team that kicked it out in the spirit of fair play, Arsenal didn’t return the ball and went unimpeded to score the winner. After a lot of pressure they eventually decided to call the game a draw which Arsenal then fairly won in the replay. I think the British way is still we want to see fair play being as equally important as to winning it’s surely more gratifying to win fairly than to win at any cost.

Definitely. You’re have to try and find out from your brother what the thoughts of the local supporters are. It will make a great quiz question in years to come.

My brother (for one) was disappointed Dunc left but is very happy with the replacement👍
