    • Manchester City have won their past seven Premier League matches against Everton, scoring 21 times and conceding only five.

    • Everton have only lost eight or more consecutive Premier League matches against an opponent once previously, losing nine in a row against Manchester United between December 1999 and February 2004.

    • Among teams who have never won the Premier League title themselves, Everton have won more Premier League matches against the reigning champions than anyone else (14). They also won their last such match, winning 2-0 at rivals Liverpool in February last season.

I have watched a lot of City and they grind teams down. They aren't explosive like Liverpool can be in scoring lots early and quickly, then tend to almost wear teams down.

It is always important but it is more important than ever against a team like City to score first. We can hit them on the counter and they will take more and more risks the longer the game goes on giving us more opportunity to score or get someone sent off etc.

I think Walker is in the form of his life at the moment IMO, and whilst Cancelo is a brilliant attacker and a good defender, he will give you a chance to get around him or put a ball into the box. He will struggle with Townsend whipping the ball in off his back foot so keep feeding him when we get forward and keep flooding into the box.

    • Manchester City have lost four Premier League home games in 2021, including a 2-0 loss last time out against Crystal Palace. This is just one fewer home league defeats than they suffered in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 combined (five), while they last lost more in a calendar year at Etihad Stadium in 2010 (five).

    • Everton are winless in their last five Premier League games (drawn two, lost three), with the Toffees last having a longer run without a win in the competition in January 2018 under Sam Allardyce (six).

    • Meanwhile, City (221) have had more sequences of 10 or more passes than any other side in the Premier League this season, while only Newcastle (175) have had more such sequences against them than Everton (156).

That last stat is extremely embarrassing, and shows exactly where we're at - we're a terrible footballing side.

It worries the tar out of me that Delph is being praised. Against an abysmal Spurs, Delph was no more than average. If we think Delph is going to play a stunner against City, we're very much mistaken. I hope I'm wrong, but I see nothing other than an embarrassingly heavy defeat.

Won’t hear a bad word about the English Xavi. Perfect hat trick against city coming up.

It’s amazing and frankly quite bizarre the amount of people who have put Delph in their team’s the last couple of games, granted we are very low on options but the adulation he’s been receiving is the thing I found the most bizarre he’s gone from the top of Everton’s most hated to near the top of most loved. This is showing me just how weak we are as a squad for all the money and all the managers we’ve achieved very little or nothing as a team in the last 6 years, Delph hasn’t become a better player in the last few weeks he’s still piss poor he’s looking just below average because the team is dropping below his poor standards. I can’t wait for players to come back and normal service to resume then my eyes will be pain free from reading that Delph is a good player.

I very much doubt he, or any of our players, will be allowed to play because we'll barely have the ball.

I've written this game off. anything more than a slapping from City is a bonus.

If ever there was a game where we need to sit deep and try to get something on the break, this is it. Not the way I would like to see us play every week but we have to be pragmatic in this situation. I'd probably go 3-5-2 if we had a full squad to choose from but getting a 5 in midfield with our current injuries is nigh on impossible. So, 4-4-1-1 with both Gray and Richarlison having to track back and help out. Coleman and Digne don't venture too far forward and Townsend and Gordon provide the width.

                           Pickford

        Coleman  Keane  Godfrey  Digne

        Townsend  Allan  Delph  Gordon

                         Gray

                       Richarlison

Spot on mate.

Not really looking forward to this one. I'm hoping Richarlison can cause havoc against Stones and Laporte to be honest. Hopefully he has a good game because it's going to be a long one for him.

The whole backline and Delph and Allan need to all be on song today. They've lost to Palace and WHU of late so the task isn't impossible. Either way, were going to need a huge amount of luck to get anything from the game.

The more I look at that City side, the more I think we can exploit them.

Laporte and Stones are not a settled partnership, the midfield 3 of Gundogan, Silva and Rodri are rock solid but ahead of them are a kid (no different to Gordon), a generational talent in Foden and Sterling who is completely out of form.

I think there will be confidence in our dressing room that we can frustrate them and then create chances on the counter. Its just such a shame we dont have Doucoure back to go box-to-box.
