    Giakoumakis, 3M from Celtic
goalscorer that is big and strong, similar profile to Calvert Lewin. Not as technically good.

Mad for Everton not to go for him. Only leaving as he wants a bugger salary, likely to be 20K!

Perfect to compete with Calvert Lewin (likely do a better job) and would be great for the championship to!

No doubt not even on Everton’s radar.

The man Everton should be going for.
What are Celtic fans saying about Ange Postecoglu?

“Grabbed the club by the scruff of the neck and pulled them in his direction by sheer will..
Love the Big Man, what a guy..”
    —-
“Still don’t think he’s had enough credit for winning a trophy only a few months after inheriting a * show

imagine if slippy had won league cup in his first season the media would have been in a frenzy about it fir months afterwards “
    —-
“Yes, it's time to move on from 'I told you so's" and 'egg on face' and 'humble pie' etc
The * response to Ange's appointment was entirely understandable given the timing and all that had a gone before.

    A couple of additional points:

There are quite a number of positives that flow from Ange being unknown and coming from non European football management background...

He has had to manage on much smaller budgets and so, as he is beginning to demonstrate, he can spot a player bargain. All of the signings so far this window have real potential to substantially increase their value while at Celtic. His 'buy low/sell high' approach is likely to net Celtic big transfer sums in the future He has had to manage with much less in the way of backroom staff so he is more used to doing a lot of things himself. He seems to have his hands on a lot of levers at present, and the Board, to their credit, now seem willing to support him. That will probably change over time.

This is how I feel. I looked at the list and couldn't get myself to vote, because the names mentioned just make me more depressed.

Apologies if this has been started / touched on already somewhere but I could not see any discussions when scanning through.
Been switched off a bit to all that has been going on and the results etc... in the last couple of months. It was only going one way!
Now with the mess, some say crisis, in place I'm switched back on again.
We have to get this next phase in our chapter seriously right and the board need to seriously wake up and smell the coffee!
Not sure any of us really know the state the club is in but from what seems to have happened in the last month or two is a complete desperation trust in a Benitez set-up which has ended up with egg on faces. We have no DoF (although what Brands did or was allowed to do, is highly debateable) to advise on footballing matters, we have no scouting structure, we have no medical team, we have sever restrictions due to FFP - we have little to no funds for recruitment, we've now got to pay out again against FFP to pay off Benitez and his chosen men, we have moved along a quality player (Digne) for an average fee and replace him with a gamble that has to work as there are no other LB choices at the club, we also have a board performing strategic reviews of the club / business - but making no progressive steps, we also have zero comms coming out from the club to fans, we potential could lose our young stars again on frees due to their lack of use.
Much as I am excited about our new stadium being built - I dont want to see another drone footage update of it for some good PR for the club.
How worried should we be and how desperate are the board now?

I actually wonder how much input brands had. He didn’t want benetiz at all and he has probably had little say or really had to fight to get “his” recommendations.

Not assured but a very real possibilty, which isn't a situation we've been in since 03/04, and that season we had 23 points at this stage. We're the worst team in the league over the last thirteen (for us) games as well; it's dire, it's frankly desperate. If we carry on at the PPG we've been on for those thirteen we'll finish the season on 28 points, that's relegation in anyone's book. If we'd started badly and shown sign of turning it around and had nineteen points then maybe we carry on, but it's been the exact opposite and there was zero indication Benitez had a clue on how to change the slide.

I think you are probably right about Rooney's controversies. On second thoughts, do we need that risk right now?

Rooney is a day, week, month away from another controversy for another stupid off field decision.
He could lead a culture change at Everton, but I feel at some point he will fall off the wagon and the playing group culture and commitment levels could fracture with it.
On top of this, any manager should need to prove they can create a successful, trophy winning brand of football before they touch the Everton job. That doesn't need to be in a top 5 league, but success as a manager should be a pre-requisite.

Everton has picked managers that have been relegated twice, Aston Villa just gave the reigns to an ex SPL manager with 2 years managing experience, there are plenty, plenty of examples of managers that haven't managed at a top 5 league coming into the Premier League.
Our experienced managers approach is not proving to be successful....

Just read up on Potters managerial record. Finished bottom half in the championship with Swansea and bottom half twice with Brighton in the premier league. !!  What is it about Potter that people want him here. ??

Ange Postecoglu who is at Celtic on a 1 year deal (6 months remaining).
Playing entertaining winning football, won every trophy he’s had the opportunity to with the club so far.
Celtic will definitely try and extend his contract, Everton should swoop in for him.

In the first half of the season we were much much better, we played good football and we attacked. The second half of the season we were shite.

Im not having that our football is easier on the eye this season. We’ve had a few individuals put in good performances and score brilliant goals, but as a team the football has been crap. Attacked? Counter attacked yeah, but we’ve hardly had the ball all season.

He's never been close to managing at a level anywhere near the PL, would be a crazy gamble.

I just want to see a manager come in and play direct attacking football with pace, width and intensity, who then defend with that same intensity to win the ball back high up the pitch.

Never going to get that sort of money for him, you are looking for pre COVID fees, many clubs (even the giants) across euro are skint - so realistically you are looking at the domestic market. I would be snatching Villa's hand off.  I think up and down the pitch back play is best suited to younger energetic players. Our right back has needed replacing since he turned 30-31. based on the last 12 months. Not saying 30-31 are past it, but will be very much on the decline.
Given how Digne performances and quality has dropped off over the past 12 months - I can't say I would now want the club to gamble £25M on him (plus his very high wages) for the next 4years. Hs fees will open up a lot of transfer opportunities.
Digne has scored 1 goal since his 2018/19 debut season (this year against QPR in LC) and has had 2 assists in the whole of 2021 calendar year (almost 40games) is not a great deal of assists for a £25M LB, to me this is a massive indicator that he may already be on the decline. Just looking a simple aspect of his game this past 12 months -  his corners and any free kicks have been poor to average at best.
He might have a burst of energy the second half of the season in a new team and with the WC around the corner, but I think for the rest of his multi million pound contract I think the villa fans might end up feeling a little let down overall.
£25M fee, maybe four years on +£120k - So around about a £50M package. If the boot was on the other foot, would anybody in their right mine think we should investing that sort of money in an out of form LB who is coming up to his 29 birthday? In 4 years time he will have no residual transfer fee.
We now have Mykolenko and Patterson over that four years at less than this £50M. In for years time they will be 26 and 24 respectively.
There are a lot of rose tinted glasses looking at Digne - 1, due to his past performances and 2. because him falling out with Benitez is very continent ammunition for those who don't like Benitez.
Truth is he hasn't performed at his best level for a whole 12months, it is at the right age to sell and will bring in a good fee.

I’d like our manager to be able to have a grown up conversation with players who disagree with how he’s doing things. Maybe they both spat their dummies out. I’m pretty sure if one of your staff told you they disagreed with how you were doing something you would have a conversation with them and not just tell them to go and find another employer. Two grown ups can disagree without it being an issue.

The issue with this is between Benitez and Digne but only one of them has previous for spitting their dummy out in situations like that. There are many players queuing up to talk about their experiences of being frozen out by Rafa. Xavi Alonso was a fantastic player and chose to be at the birth of his baby over a football match and wasn’t ever forgiven by Rafa. No managers have ever publicly lambasted Digne (I’ve drank a lot tonight and got a word like lambasted into a sentence) or talked about issues with him. Carlo thought he should be made Vice Captain!
