Wiggytop reacted to RuffRob in Newcastle (Away) 19th October
We desperately missing Patterson in an attacking sense.

Absolutely dismal this. The amount of times we go from a half decent area to our keeper is pathetic

There is not a massive amount between us and Newcastle in all honest, just that bit of quality in the final third.

Really wish Gray would try creating a partnership with Myko.

Onana needs to stop looking for the soft foul. The ref is not calling it. Him going to ground is why the ball turned over.

Wiggytop reacted to Hafnia in Jordan Pickford
There wasn’t anyone remotely close to southall in his era, jean Marie pfaff was supposed to be the best…. Not even bloody close. He is the one player we had since maybe Alan Ball who we could say was the best in the world in his position.

For every mistake he's made in the last 3 years there have been 5 saves he had no right to make.
One day Jordan will leave, one way or another. Only then when we have to replace him and have Robles or Paul Gerrard mark 2 in between the sticks will we really understand how good he is.

What message does it send to Jordan that he makes one mistake that costs a goal and we bench him? Or say the reason he's benched is the Newcastle connection. That still sends a message to him that Lampard and the staff don't trust him to keep his composure.
He needs to start.

Spot on, and from that game we didn’t show any indication of being a counter attacking team, except for Grays chance. We’re still very much a work in progress, but it’s a better place than 12 months ago.

Oooh I don’t know, there’s a couple of lumpy bits on Queens Drive, probably wouldn’t get out of town intact.😱

Wiggytop reacted to Hafnia in Anthony Gordon
Not really, game to game would suggest he’s had a good game recently.
like I said - has he had a good game since the window closed? I mean I recall his diva ish celebrations when he scored the disallowed goal vs forest “call me”, and his “not listening” when scoring against Leeds.
I’ll call it as I see it, got far too high on himself. I look forward to him working hard for the team.

I’d have no problem with him going for free in Jan, the sooner we get his wages off the books the better.

Wiggytop reacted to Romey 1878 in Manchester United (H)
I'll start by saying we weren't good tonight. At all.
We were really lethargic in our play, both in attack and defence. We pressed sporadically, defenders caught on their heels when they should have been reacting quicker, poor movement off the ball, sloppy passing. You name it, we were shit at it.
I'm not going to single any player out for criticism though because, other than Iwobi, I don't think anyone had a good game tbh.
I'm not going to dwell on tonight though. It was shite but was it a surprise? Not really. We're very much a work in progress and games like tonight were always going to happen and will happen again. Of that I have no doubt. So we just need to learn from tonight and move on really.
There were two things that did piss me off about tonight though.
Lampard, once again, was a bit too slow with his subs. Got no problem with the late sub of DCL because I doubt he had more than that in him but Gordon should have been brought off sooner and Garner should have been brought on sooner in my opinion.
The other thing was how well we did towards the end of the game at putting United under pressure. We should have been at them all game instead of leaving it late like that. When we did put them under pressure they looked like they could fold at any moment!
On to the next one then.

Wiggytop reacted to Cornish Steve in Demarai Gray
I can see both sides of this. Gray provides some exciting runs, gets into threatening positions, but he seems to lack judgment on knowing how to convert - usually going it alone when an incisive pass would be better. Those runs can be amazing, but what must change to make them count? In the end, it's a coaching issue. Iwobi was so frustrating a year ago, although you could sense the talent. Good coaching has turned him around. The same needs to happen with Gray: Someone needs to take ownership of his situation and get the most value from him. If that doesn't happen over the course of the season, I agree that we should consider moving him along.

I hope we don’t leave it until the end of the season. No reason we can’t have the agreement in place before then. We’re building a team that’s tough and consistent, he’s a part of it. We need the certainty before the season finishes.
