Good to have someone to look after that area though if they feel it needs someone dedicated.  We have plenty of promising players that go on loans, which are important steps for their development but require a good bit of contact from someone to ensure they are doing ok, often away from home for the first time, that they are getting the support at their loan club and keeping track of how they are developing as a player.

I think on the whole we've done a good job.
As mentioned above, got some high wages off the books, if not with sales then with loans which will have to do.
We are still a bit short attack wise and there aren't a lot of options off the bench but hopefully DCL can get and stay fit and we'll have Maupay and one of the other attackers on the bench with him to provide backup and options.
Lampard clearly saw freshening up the midfield as a clear area and he's done a good job on that.  Onana and Garnder are really positive young signings whilst we know what Gueye can give us which should hopefully allow those midfielders in front of him to get more time on the ball.
The defence has seen 2 experienced leaders come in and settle in well straight away.  They will both be good for Holgate and Godfrey who can learn from them and be marshalled by them in game.
Whilst we still don't have a massively strong squad we have a stronger more balanced 11 with a bit of good backup and younger additions who will be on less pay and have future potential both in the team and sell on value.
We may still struggle for goals at times but I think with the improvements in defence and midfield we will hopefully be able to get more of a grip on games and therefore offer more going forward.

Good interview from him, while they always say similar things it's clear he enjoyed his time at Everton and is happy to come back.
I know amongst the 4k+ posts on here he got slated a fair bit as "not being a good footballer"  and just charging around etc but whilst he had his limitations he did a tremendous amount of work that the rest of the team would appreciate and will help to give the defence that final bit of solidity that it's been missing.  It should also help us improve our possession, he did a great job at not only winning the ball back but finding a player once he'd done it.  With Onana and Iwobi looking good together in the middle he can hopefully bring them quickly into the game and allow them to take the ball forward.
With his attitude and experience, he will also be beneficial for the younger players like Garner and Onana (fellow Senegalese).

Very hopeful on this one. Hopefully he has the energy to be a heat seeking missile for a couple years and mentor the young midfielders.

I think for the match this weekend you're right and probably for away at Arsenal as well but maybe not for other games.  Gray gives us a good option coming off the bench though.

He wants us to be able to play 523, 433 and maybe even 442. We need to be adaptable to different situations.

He wants high press. Maupay, DCL, Gordon, McNeil, Gray, Iwobi and Gana are all very capable of this.

I’m sure he would like more possession too. Iwobi, Onana, Garner, Patterson, McNeil, DCL and Maupay can hopefully do a bit of this too.

Expect high tempo and high work rate as the team settles. Then hopefully more football as the team grows.

One way or another, Frank and Kevin definitely have a plan they are working towards.

    definitely not.
He won't command much of a fee and he's a solid backup keeper in a position we don't need to worry about.

It's the Chelsea way though isn't it, transfer policy obviously not changed under new owners.  They've often bought players who have looked good at "lesser" teams in the league after a successful season, sit them on the bench or loan them out for a few years then sell them off again.
From a footballing point of view it surely wouldn't take much for Gordon to see that right now he's much better off at Everton.  He will get regular game time, is considered a key member of the squad and is loved by fans so is afforded errors and sometimes lack of end product that Chelsea having paid 40+ million for him wouldn't appreciate.  If he is good enough then he'll get that Champions League team move soon enough but the experience he will gain from playing every week for Everton is much better than what he'll get as a bit part player in a top team.
If he isn't pushing for the move however and it's just down to an acceptable price then that's different.
I think it would be a shame to lose him, we haven't had a player come through the academy and be a real success for some time and it would be a shame to lose Gordon before he's really done much but has shown great potential and a passion to put the shirt on.  Sadly football comes so much down to finances and if they offer us a good enough deal then we have to take it.
    I wouldn't accept less than 50m.
How many quality players will you bring in for 40m, 1 maybe 2.  An extra 10m doesn't change that much but is substantial enough that it covers wages and boosts our financial position generally.

    Ross Barkley...NO
He was a frustrating player when he played for us and besides a few glimpses for Villa he's not anything to show he's really improved.
Has always lacked the intelligence to prove out his potential and I don't see why we'd want to take on a 28 year old in his position.  I'd rather we took on someone coming through with potential than someone that has failed for long to reach it.

Shame Ant hasn’t learnt his lesson after getting tagged a diver last season. The way he grabbed his face after Mings brushed his face was very Richarlison and not the kind of thing I like to see.
won’t benefit him with refs going forward that’s for sure

really enjoyed that video and discussion.
Easy to see why Frank has such a high IQ, seems a very thoughtful and intelligent person. He definitely has all the attributes to be a very good man manager, and you can see that building a squad full of people with the right attitude and character are very high on his agenda.
He was also talked a lot about alignment of all at the club to be aiming for the same goals and having a clear pathways on getting to them.
I think given the right amount of time, I think he will get this club to the right end of the table. Interesting the comment about Sir Alex and his view a reasonable cycle in football is 4 years to get wholesale changes implemented. Arteta will be going in to his 4th year in December, so that rings quite true.
I think we really have to stick with Frank and his team, through ups and downs over the next 2 or 3 years at least and remember the low base from which he has started. Change and improvement might take a bit of time, but I get the feeling its going to be done right.

I think with an addition of a decent striker who can backup/challenge DCL either a loan or signing the window will look decent.  A more Eriksen type midfielder would have been good but we can't have it all and given we created an expected goal count of 3.2 in our game against Chelsea we weren't totally devoid of chances so if the players we have can be a bit more clinical backed up by a striker we should be able to get by.
I don't think you can comment on a transfer window till well after its closed though, everyone happily slates are awful transfer policy of the last few years but I remember the excitement around the transfer window when we signed Gylfi, Keane, Pickford, Klassen, Vlasic, Rooney and Sandro Ramirez as well as Onyekuru (people saw him as a starting striker for January!)

I think given that the purse strings are pretty tight I think this summer its about spreading relatively little a long way.
I think in this transfer window we are getting a good mix of youth and seasoned pro's who go straight in to the team. Bigger fees paid for youngsters and lesser or no fees for older player. I think all the players being brought in so far are hungry, robust, are of the right character and mentality and significantly improve our squad from a footballing point of view.
This summer we look to be stabilizing and forming a solid base for the future. I am expecting us to become very tough to beat as the season goes on, and developing our offensive capabilities off the back of this solid foundation. The squad have been to soft and too fragile for far to long,  it's as if somebody in now really thinking about it!!!
seems to me the first questions in our recruitment are now - is he injury prone? does he work hard? is a sound character? is he passionate about playing for this club? does he have the footballing attributes we need for this squad? does he provide good value - and it only if all these questions are answered correctly that any sort effort in signing him is made.
As it stands I will give the recruitment team the benefit of the doubt in the pursuit of a striker.

Only just seen match of the day highlights,  more positive attack wise than I expected backed up by the 3.2ExG to their 1.4.
As expected our problem was a lack of front man. There were chances there that weren't taken and other moments where a centre forward could have caused more trouble for the centre backs.
I even think we'd have benefited from having Rondon up there, even if just for a portion of the game.
Desperately need someone else before next week.

Just checked out a video of him at Sheffield United.  Looks like he takes Dele's spot (which has never been Dele's spot!), looks to drive forward well, takes on shots and looks to play people in well with some good through balls around the box.
Would work well with Gordon and Gray if they can look to cut inside and get into the box.
Not sure on the price, he's young and English so price is always high but they need to be confident that he'll produce in the Premier league.  Any offer over what we want to pay for him should be based around add ons that show some kind of success from him.

I’m absolutely fine with it and I wish him all the very best.
he was an absolute hero for us last year and arguably saved this club from extinction in his performances that prevented relegation- plus his sale has likely prevented a sanction that may result in a points deduction that could see us struggle again,
idiots on twitter wishing him ill need to remind themselves of what he has done for us.

let’s go back a few years and compare him to that lazy oaf who needs to go to Italy again in order to get his quota of goals, we had a  game vs palace which put top 4 in our own hands, he was odds on for golden boot and he spent 90 minutes strolling round. Kane went and scored a hat trick  and a brace in the next couple of games…. Top 4 was gone but when it had gone and golden boot was no longer roms…. What did he do? Ran his arse off vs the gunners.

One played for himself the other for the club, one I wish well, the other I can’t stand
