He’s a Kopite… thought I’d check, just in case. From an interview when at Watford:

Who was your idol growing up? (Corey)

“I get asked this a lot of times. Because of where I grew up, all my family are Liverpool supporters, which is ironic considering I’m at Manchester United, so my idol was probably Steven Gerrard. I used to watch all the games with my Dad and he was the main player who I used to watch and I wanted to be like him. I used to wear the Predators, just like him, and I still do today.”

The response was very coy - "you never know".

So maybe one to keep an eye on.

Looks a decent player on tonight’s evidence - takes a nice set piece. Brennan Johnson looks a real prospect. Djed Spence (who we’ve previously been linked with) is the one who has really stood out at rb.

Lives down the road from me, I know people who know him very well, he went to the local secondary school.

I watched him for forest in play offs, similar type of player to Tom Davies but more athletic and stronger. Looks a very good prospect and obviously location wise Everton would appeal.

I'll ask his family again if there's any truth to our link, but last time they were pretty coy about it all.

His mum lives in Eastham, a lad a grew up with is her partner. Do his family live your way up the Wirral?

Haf, we already spoke about this when he was linked to us towards the end of the season. Don’t you remember?

Sort of, as I said a few lads I spoke to were shocked that I didn’t know who he was because I knew a few people who knew him.  Mad what lockdown and no boozing in pubs has done to my local knowledge, I played for/against most pubs round here so know most people.

just looked back, I asked if you knew what school he went to. I can answer that now. South wirral, grew up in Eastham (I live in Bromborough very close to Eastham).

The conversation I had about him was that a few people were surprised at how well he had done, a few decent lads from round here were considered better to the untrained eye. But I know from speaking to someone who was a very decent player who deals with scouts that they look for things the average person doesn’t see. They look for something to work with and it seems to start with size, build, athleticism. He’s 6ft1 and can move, has solid technical ability.   People tend to think that the kids who can dribble past the whole opposition are better. Scouts seem to ignore that now.

Coincidentally, South Wirral was the school I was given but there was no way I was going there because of how far away it was from where I lived (centre of Birkenhead, or down town as we'd say ).

Edit - you also could be forgiven for not knowing who he was even though you were local because he moved to Manchester after a couple of years of high school here. Think he was around 14 when he went.

Well done to the lad, great to see local kids make it. I think Chris malkin and Dave challinor are the last local lads to make it.  I used to play against challinor, I had a decent throw in but even as a kid his was remarkable.

Strongly linked again (along with many other teams) and Man U seem willing to sell. I don’t know if he’s ready for the step up from the Championship but I think his ability on set-pieces may see him being a high priority for us, similarly to McNeil being identified. Gordon/Gray aren’t consistently threatening enough for me from dead-ball situations so think it will still be an area being looked at.

So it's sign him because he can take free kicks is it. !!  Think I would like it better if he was a good player.  😱

Pretty sure that’s not the only attribute this lad has - if we’re even interested in the first place - we’ll certainly be looking for someone who’s a right-footed set-piece specialist (as well as other qualities) to compliment the McNeil signing (left-footed set-piece specialist).
