Laid back and not enough purpose.

Very little creativity, and lazy movement. If we want something out of the season we need to work harder. It's the kind of game where the opposition could nick it, so time to find the net, and be more clinical.

    Only Coleman has my applauds.

Bloody hell, you really do hold grudges! Im surprised you actually like Pienaar because he gives the ball away several times a game, not to mention Osman, Neville, Jelavic and who could forget Distin in the semi final!

He makes mistakes and he will learn from it, as he will from any competitive game he plays. God knows how many times Ronaldo gave the ball away, made bad decisions and generally cocked up when he first came over here, but Fergie gave him games, not every week and he moulded him into the player he is today. Im not saying Barkley is that good, but you have to give him every chance.

Pete has a point about the young players. Its not about them playing the odd minutes here and there, its about whether they have been brought through to play consistently. Rodwell is probably the only one that would fit the bill in recent times along with Coleman. Felli was already established and the rest have never been given a real sniff despite some promise, especially when established players weren't performing. If the starting 11 are flying and everyone is playing really well, then its no surprise that the younger players will miss out, but we have been shocking at times and we have fielded out of form first teamers out of position rather than give someone else a go in their natural position.

Anyway as I said before, the loan is a very good move. Hopefully he gets games and comes back an improved player.

If Garbutt is out then Baines will probably have to play but I dont see why that isnt taking the game seriously. There would roughly be 7 players from our general starting 11, Barkley was doing well in the Championship, Vellios who has looked very assured when he has come on and Oviedo who has also done pretty well. Duffy couldnt really do any worse than Heitinga & Distin did against Newcastle and overall Gueye would be the one to doubt but I dont think he has done as badly as people are making out.

Again I will reiterate, its not really about who plays its just whether they are up for it.

SimonButtle reacted to Bailey in John Heitinga
I dont think there has really been that much difference between any of them. Kone didn't have the beating off Heitinga, he had him for pace when we were pressing high and leaving space in behind. The midfield offered no pressure on the ball and Wigan dropped it in behind for fun. Its not Heitinga's fault that he isnt quick and that our manager didnt realise it would be a problem and Wigan's manager exploited it. When we got our act together in the second half we stopped that ball from being played, and only once or twice did Distin have run back to goal.

Jags, Heits and Distin all made mistakes against Newcastle and they were all silly mistakes but luckily only one of them cost us a goal. Poor marking by jags & Distin could have easily led to another and Heitinga was guilty of letting Obertan get a shot away. Against West Ham and Chelsea it was the same thing. All three are making mistakes and all three are costing us goals.

Jags gets a lot more plaudits because he is making last ditch challenges but in general his overall levels of defending still arent anywhere near he was before he got injured IMO.

I would definitely be getting Duffy involved against Cheltenham on Monday. He cant do any worse than the other three.

Jags isn't a rock, him and Distin is the worst pairing the clubs had in the last decade, an absolute shambles together last season.
Imagine the Wigan game had Distin started along with Johnny, they'd had been no problem. Jags-Heitinga was a awful decision from the manager, players have different strengths and weaknesses and Heitinga proved last season he is the one with the most strengths.
How has Heitinga been any worst than the other 2? Two cleam sheets isn't good enough and the constant is Jagielka, the obvious thing to do would be to drop him give Distin-Heitinga a proper chance.

Sends such a shitty message - he worked his bollocks off against Chelsea and then is rewarded for it by getting dropped. Working hard and having a great game obviously means fuck all.

Yes Fellaini's back, but Vic had earned his spot and Fellaini could have easily just gone to his best position - midfield.

    I'm very disappointed with Moyes.

It's all turned around now, Spurs lead.

I'd be devastated if O'Neill came here. One of the most over rated managers you'll ever find. He's up there with Mark Hughes.

Anichebe looks off the pace today. We're lacking in the final third which isn't helping either.

Why Naismith?!?! What will it take for Moyes to give Barkley a crack. If Liverpool and Arsenals young future world beaters are capable of getting time why isn't Barkley?

We will buddy, sorry to sound a bit arsey on that reply dude, just re-reading it, can see how it can be misconstrued.

All it is, I have developed a real pet hate for people calling Premier League players "shit". They're obviously not, because they wouldn't be earning 5 times the national average salary, per week. I'm a 'shit' footballer, no question, to call a premier league first teamer "shit", gets right on my wick.

Even if people are only making the comparison at Premier League level, there are over 550+ players registered to the league, i'm pretty sure that if anything, the player(s) who is listed at 550th on a ranking list (based on ability) would be the only one(s), even remotely close to that description. A first team squad player, truly isn't "shit".

So we'll see, be happily proved wrong, as ironically, I think the player's a complete tosser. But to degrade his ability to "shit" is ludicrous...either that, or his ability to be "shit" is earning him the sort of money, we could only dream of.

Imo, £6.5 could and should be used towards a new goalkeeper, Lescott should only be brought in on a loan basis if we do insist on bringing him back.

I don't see how they would fit into Roger's system. The need an out-and-out striker and a proper winger.

Ossie on the right is a terrible idea, rather see Coleman there and Neville/Hibbo at RB. Thats how much I dont want to see Osman on the right.

Best option right now, even if I hate splitting up Baines/Pienaar, is to play Pienaar on the right, Oviedo on the left.

Not defending what he did....but comparing him to Barton is absurd so it's right to defend him against that.

Head"butt" and 2 times he pushed Shawcross in the face. Moyes shouldve pull him off straight after the headbutt.
In fact, think Moyes can be blamed for this one. his tactics were absolutely rubbish and didnt make any real attempt to change the game.

What a massive fanny Adam is, tell he was a kopite. Fouling Baines then going down in a lump grabbing the ball for a fk for himself should have booked him for handball the cock.

SimonButtle reacted to Romey 1878 in Fellaini - Defensive Midfielder
Fellaini coming from deeper is better when we're up against a side that have to big lumps at the back that can do a good job of marshalling him. If not then he flourishes in the more advanced role.

This is why I think Moyes needs to go for more of a horses for courses method. Yes, having Fellaini further up has been effective but it won't be against every opposition we face, which means that sometimes it's better to change it, and it's something that Moyes has never seemed to realise in all his time here. Obviously Fellaini hasn't been here for all of that time but he did the same with Cahill. Once he has something that has worked he's loathe to change it, but sometimes that change is needed against a certain opposition.
