His confidence is low at Arsenal and I'm not surprised as their fans are toxic these days. Yep, look over the years, players who are considered "injury prone" move on and all of a sudden they are playing week in week out, Jack Wilshire being one (yes I know he's injured now but that's a leg break and he's played majority of the season). I wouldn't say no if I'm honest. Same here. Took me a while to be convinced by him but he's very understated in the game. Like you say, he's not relying on pace but he has the killer pass eye that we've needed for years. We'd easily get 5 years out of him, a title-winning, seasoned Champions League veteran.
