Sibdane
This is what's annoying me. I just hope he's not going to turn into a "Martinez McCarthy" don't get me wrong the goal showed he's willing to get forward but his insistence to drop between the centre half really worries me especially after the second goal against Spurs. A game were I thought he was poor! That's really the only time I have seen him put a foot wrong, and there are multiple culprits there. I definitely think he has more to his game than sideways/back passing.
Cornish Steve
There's absolutely nothing wrong with passes back and sideways (contrary to what parents of U-8 players seem to think). If his passes were ONLY backwards or sideways, I'd be concerned. Then again, if his passes were ONLY forwards, I would be equally concerned. You do what's right in a given situation. Newty82
67% of his passes are classed as 'forward passes'. The role he plays for us means that naturally more of his passes are shorter, although not much difference in all of the central midfielders. The guy has been a superb signing so far. markjazzbassist, Sibdane and Romey 1878
Matt
I love that he drops back, turns and moves forward. If there's no short forward pass on, he'll ping it long or play the safe pass. Sibdane
StevO
No harm in keeping possession and playing safe sometimes. Not every ball has to be a forward pass. While he's passing the ball sideways or backwards it's drawing out the opposition midfield and defence, slowly creating space for the likes of Ross and Rom to take advantage of. Got to look what's happening 30/40 yards away when a player is being boring in possession. See Iniesta for reference. Bailey
I am really impressed by the way he semi to have eyes in the back of his head. The number of times he looks like someone is coming into to tackle him or intercept a pass he makes and he just turns the other way and goes clear. markjazzbassist, Lowensda, Romey 1878 and 1 other

Romey 1878
Ffs, why do we always lose key players when we're about to play that lot?!
johnh
He needs to do what I used to do when I played. Put an elastoplast on it. Doesn't work too well for a broken leg but OK for everything else.
Romey 1878
Whatever happens I pray we don't play Barry against them. Their midfield would swarm all over him. There's a time and a place for Gareth Barry and Anfield is not it. duncanmckenzieismagic

Bailey
If we set up with 5 at the back and look to counter then having Barry involved won't be a problem. In fact he is probably the best man for that job, probably with Gana and McCarthy either side.
markjazzbassist
http://www.evertonfc.com/news/2017/03/21/schneiderlin-injury-update Not sure what that means. I'm taking it as a minor knock hopefully he's not in the French team and can rest and be fit to play in the derby.

UsernameEverton
Wouldn't play him against Liverpool he demands a lot of time on the ball and he won't get that. If we go with a 5-3-1-1 formation with Barry and Gueye in holding midfields roles with the fullbacks aloud to get forward we will beat them. Barry against their lot is suicide. far too slow against some of the fastest players in the prem. If morgz cant play it has to be McCarthy. Romey 1878
Minor probably just means he misses 1, maybe 2 games, rather than 3 or 4.

markjazzbassist
these are the 2 most important games of the season (arsenal last match could be as well). i think he will play at least 1 of them, maybe United since he will have more time to gain fitness.
