I don't understand why we only get a bit in our teeth anf start fighting towards the end of games.

This. It’s insane.

DCL again has won every ball played up to him, put himself about. He has to start

Need something up from much more desperately. It’s not like we’re not getting the ball into the box, it just comes out to easily.

A striker is needed too but even the best striker in the world would have done feck all today in this side. We dont look like we can stop sides playing through us nor can we play through sides either.

I wish our problems were as easy as the team sheet though. The whole mentality of the team is so fragile. There is a distinctive lack of leadership, composure, fight, I could go on.

And we think of ourselves as a better than than Watford, West Ham, Bournemouth etc. We're not, were not even on par because we're not a team, and we haven't been since Moyes left.

That's what I was getting at when I compared him to Koeman shit decisions when picking the starting line-up

Won every ball but also barely found a team mate. Someone "putting themselves about" isnt going to help us. That being said neither is one throwing himself to the ground every 5 minutes or the other who has an ability to disappear whenever he crosses the white line onto the pitch.

Well. Shit really. Poor performance from us. Loved the nerve we showed at the end of the match, but most of it was really really poor.

Despite the late rally, that really was piss poor. Do we ever really look like coming from behind to win ? Ever ? Too many players hiding for me. No ownership. It’s all a bit ‘meh’ and shrug the shoulders type stuff. No desire or passion.

Crap. This is on Silva for me, we're awful at the back, he insists on playing our most potent attacking threat out of position and he sticks to a shape that isn'tt working. Fucking hard work being an Everton fan, again.

Agreed, Matt. At least he shows more heart than certain other players.

It’s not just that, he’s just better at winning the ball

Not his fault if no one is looking for the knockdown. Did a fuck ton more than Richarlison did.

Thought Gylfi looked a bit better playing deep. Maybe Gomes needs a rest and we can finally play our best forward players in their preferred roles

Spot on.

I do think we are tactically naive as well, again its like the management also think we are better than we are. We never had a grip of that game. We had a small spell of 10 minutes in the first half but that was it. Southampton were more than comfortable for the rest. This absurd tactic of just throwing on more strikers when we are losing is also massively naive.

He also had an effort on goal, brave one at that.

Mostly agree but we actually started playing better when we did have more pressure up top. It can’t be a coincidence

Yeah. I’ve been a big critic of him in the past for not being able to score but his strengths get the best out of people around him and that’s invaluable

It is because his knockdowns werent exactly near people. Dont get me wrong, its a hard job and he definitely does it better than anyone else but the end result is the same in that we lose the ball. Richarlison played a big part in our two big chances in the first half. Neither of them had the quality they deserve.

Gylfi was poor deep IMO. Played a big part in their 2nd. Offering no control or support to Gana (who did a good job of doing everything at that point).

Its all a mess at the moment. Silva needs to get a grip of things soon before it completely unravels.

No we played "better" when they went 2 up, sat back and still carried more threat on the counter than we did in 2nd half.

I also wouldnt say we played better.

Be careful what you wish for.

We've laid our bed, think we have to commit to Silva until the end of next season at the earliest. We can't keep on changing managers so rapidly.

But it's the only thing we have to look forward to😀

You know what getting Moyes back wouldn't be a bad shout he gets this club and the fans, and he'd put a bit of character and steel back into use.

We can't go back it wouldn't work. But what we could really do with at the moment is Moyes's ability to pick the right characters to build a team out of. We've become a spineless team.

And to add misery to misery,  the RS scored their winner in the 93rd minute.

The were 3-2 up already John, that goal made it 4-2 then Palace got another in the 95th.

I think brands will be scouring the football manager market never mind transfer market.

I hope not. I didn’t want him, but he inherited a shitshow and it’s going to take more than this season to correct it. Silva definitely needs to learn and adapt though

They basically beat us by using tactics I’ve been calling for since 2008 - push from the front.

Disagree. At least when the first two subs came on we played in their half because there was an actual threat.

Side note, I’m really disappointed with Keane today. Seemed to be constantly out of position

Yeah. The silly sod had his head turned by the Mancs and tbh things had gotten stale here but with a bit of a budget could be worth a punt. (hides behind the sofa)

I’d seriously persist with DCL uptop for the season.

Richarlison needs a rocketing, I know it’s tough up there alone but he just goes down to easily.

Agree on Gomes, give him a game or two off to recover, drop siggy deep and get bernard central.

Silva needs to improve as much as the players, I believe he can do it but I’ve felt this way Martinez and Koeman.

Same XI as Bournemouth.

Too often guilty of hyperbole and this is impossible to prove but I really feel this game can define our season - or at least January and February. Win at Southampton and the sustained momentum carries over to Millwall which carries over to the now manager-less Huddersfield. Then you're in or close to 7th with Wolves, Watford and an FA 5th round tie before Man City visits. We could be rolling.

I always come back to this - it's the hope that kills you...

Bitterly disappointing. Been saying it for months, Richarlison not a striker. Gomes’ shift one of the worst I’ve seen in a blue shirt, but agree with those who think it was from trying too hard - so he gets a pass for now. Another class finish from Digne...
