I was planning a trip to the UK in late summer/early fall, one of the main reasons was to get to another game at Goodison before it's put to rest.
Little did I know I'd be watching us against the likes of Stoke and Millwall instead of Liverpool and United.
Have to laugh otherwise it hurts too much.

We see it different that’s all.
I saw us fighting a lot more, I saw 15 efforts in the second half. More touches in the opposition box than the last three matches together.
I saw changes made very early, so they have a chance of impacting the game… and they did.

On another day we score 3 of those chances. People have mentioned Dons moss, two from Mina. But Grays miss has to be the pick of the bunch…. He is usually so reliable with efforts like that.

Agree, Gordon was excellent. Absolute must to start next match. His quality deserved more.
We creat chances like that every week and we’ll score goals, no doubt.

We play like that every week and results will come.
Some fans seem to think we have right to win, we don’t. Sometimes you are the better team… which we were, but things don’t go your way and you lose.
Moat fans know that was a marked Improvement on anything we’ve seen recently.

For me the absolute most important thing that needs to come out of this strategic review is a commitment to aligning the academy with the first team. Whether that means we have a DoF or not I don't care. We see it all the time here in the States, the best organizations bring through talent and supplement by buying. We're always left the holding the bag in the transfer market because our academy either hasn't produced talent or when it has they've left. It's long been a fallacy to suggest the big clubs just buy their teams. Sure they spend a shit ton more than we can but they also have incredible homegrown talent.

    Utd: Rashford, McTominay, Greenwood, Lingard
    Arsenal: Saka, Smith-Rowe, Martinelli
    Chelsea: James, Mount, Hudson-Odoi
    Spurs: Kane, Dier and Skipp
    the Shite: TAA and Jones
City: Foden and a few others knocking
It's taken City a while but they've stayed committed and are reaping the benefits. It's not too late to get the academy right and move into the new stadium with a well-balanced successful squad and budget.

It would make sense to bring in a new DOF ASAP, allow Duncan Ferguson to manage the next string of winnable games, and take the time needed to secure the "right" next permanent manager.

One name I'd be interested in a few years down the road is Jesse Marsch. Won the double in back to back seasons at Salzburg but had a horrid time at Leipzig.
If he could gain some more experience in a top 5 league and gain some more tactical knowledge when it comes to defending, I'd be up for seeing him here. Plays exciting, attacking football

Potter has Brighton 9th and playing some very good football, he deserves a lot of credit for that.
Our overall squad is mid table - 10-14th but our first 11 can definitely challenge for top 8 with the right manager and approach.

In the simplest terms, a manager's job is to get the most out of the players he has. Basically there are 3 ways to do it:
Tactics Development Leadership/passion/culture One of out three are you're a very valuable coach. Two out of three make you a good manager. All three and you're world class. Roberto has 1 and 3, Koeman has 2 and some 1, I suppose you can give Fat Sam credit for 1, Silva has some 1 and 2, Carlo has all 3 of course but Madrid came calling, and Rafa has 1 and some 2.  I'm under no illusion we can lure an established world-class manager so I don't give a flying f*** which two our manager is good at but by the looks of it it's time to give someone a chance who has 2 and 3. Maybe we don't know if Wayne has the tactical ability yet but he's already proven he's got 2 and 3. What he's doing at Derby with geriatrics and academy players is nothing short of miraculous. I've no reason to think he can't do the same here.

I think if anything with this post, you have proven that you shouldn't stick to a given policy because there are players out there at different stages of their career who have done a brilliant job for this club. There are as many unknowns coming through as there are big club footballers that have a point to prove.
I also think you are being a bit generous with some of those best signings. Jelavic wasn't, nor Mirallas and then Dom and Stones were bought for the academy. Allan has been a good signing but he was in the other category. Iwobi for all that he was at Arsenal was still on the way up as a footballer and had his best season for them before joining us. He wasn't a cast off.
The difference is the price you pay... big club players cost more and are therefore more expensive when they don't work out but then again we put Gylfi, Williams, and Bolasie on stupid money.
I think one of the best examples I can give is the left hand side of our team under Moyes. Baines, coming through the ranks at Wigan bought for £6.5m. Pienaar, played for Ajax and Borussia Dortmund, bought for £2.48m. Good players come from many different places and I don't think you can just rely on one strategy to build a successful team.

So with no manager and no DOF, I guess the squad we have is the one we have for the rest of the season. Would have liked a few more additions but not if it means Moshiri making the decisions!

Keane is a microcosm of the club. No leadership. Inconsistent. Lost in a sea of managers (what's he on his 5/6th manager now?).
I've been saying/thinking this for 5 years. I get it's a numbers game and a squad is a squad but we've been playing guys who we know are not the answer for far too long. It's not just Keane. Schneiderlin, Walcott, Holgate, Bernard, Iwobi, Kenny etc.
For me it has to be Mina and Godfrey rest of the season and when Mina gets hurt it's gotta be Branthwaite. We need to know if Mina and Godfrey can pair together and whether Branthwaite has a future. Right now we don't have any answers.

I do agree that what the club needs now is a uniting force, someone who's going to reunite the fanbase, and get us all pulling in the same direction again. More division and toxicity is the last thing we need. And he probably would be someone who could do that - even if it eventually goes tits up.
Having said that, there's a part of me that thinks he should stay at Derby. I do think he'll pull it off and keep them up. And what'll that do, not only for his legacy and his standing as a manager, but the experience of going through that quadmire they are in, and being successful, will only stand him in good stead for the future. That kind of experience is priceless. The Everton job will always be there for him, whenever there's a change of manager, his name's always gonna be in the mix, and he's still only a young manager.
But then again, who knows if they'll pull through. And if him pulling it off just means we get to play them twice next year - well fuck that shit! 😂

I get what you mean. I think he would get the time from the fans, and with him working under one of the best managers in history for such a long time he would have grounds to make a case to the hierarchy when things aren’t right.
I’d love him to come in and be the manager to lead us into the new stadium. It would feel like one of us running the club. None of the “he gets us” kind of thing, he is us.
And if Dom gets injured again I’d play a fat and unfit Rooney before I’d play a fit Rondon. 😂

I think that is a great idea!
I agree with that, although I am leaning more towards Rooney than I thought I would. He has had a tough gig and is doing really well. If anything that is exactly what we need right now, someone to come in when the chips are close to getting as low as they can go and getting us over the line. Whether he will be a long-term solution, I do not know, but there is something to like about those credentials.
Martinez inherited a team that was very much set in its ways under Moyes and had been together for a long time. Martinez had to begin rebuilding that squad and he couldn't do it successfully. You only have to look at Arsenal and Man Utd to see what happens when a long-standing manager leaves and how that unsettles the club for a long time.
I think there are arguments to say that Martinez could come back into club management and do really well but I don't think it should be here for a lot of the other reasons you have stated.

I would actually look at Martinez as a director of football - his documentary showed him as a fella who seriously follows data and scouting.  I would like Rooney as coach.

I want Rooney. I don’t care about the inexperience - I care about the passion - the pride - the desire. For many of the same reasons, I’d have Big Dunc but I just think profile and what they did in their playing career, Rooney can stand there and demand the best - he’s pretty much done it all and won the lot. I think he’d work with what’s here and bring the best out of them and invest/ put trust in younger lads. He won’t be hard or expensive to get from Derby (bring Knight too please) but put him with a solid assistant, with maybe a bit more experience, and I’d be delighted.

Everton has picked managers that have been relegated twice, Aston Villa just gave the reigns to an ex SPL manager with 2 years managing experience, there are plenty, plenty of examples of managers that haven't managed at a top 5 league coming into the Premier League.
Our experienced managers approach is not proving to be successful....
