    Are you sure?
At this stage, I'd imagine showing scouts he still has two legs is probably helpful!

Every time Maupay plays his value goes down.

Players go where they are told these days, not where they want. Money money money. If we are offering more money, he’s coming the Merseyside.

We are shopping in the right sort of window. If players chose elsewhere over us, then so be it. We can't be paying over the odds on wages on players that are still really only prospects.
On the back of two relegation fights and boardroom turmoil, we are currently seen as a dynamic improving club. What the club needs to be focusing on is changing the perception of Everton FC to up and coming players.
Plenty of fish in the seas as they say. (well up until the end of August!)

Shockingly, Maupay’s one of our better striking investments in recent years… try ranking these since Lukaku left:
    Sandro
    Rooney
    Tosun
    Kean
    King
    Rondon
    Maupay
I’d actually say Kean was our best signing there on the basis that he actually brought money in! We simply can’t survive another season with DCL as our only option!

Things would sound more positive if you list players who've returned from loan:
    Cannon Dobbin Branthwaite Warrington Onyango

I think we are no worse off than last season....that's not to say I'm delighted with the squad...I just don't think we are worse off.
mina/coady - essentially replaced  by branthwaite.
simms didn't contribute much either and I'm sure cannon won't do any worse.
Davies didn't contribute much either but in terms of a body let's just say Gomes has replaced him.
Vinagre didn't play really but for this exercise, Young can replace him.
the other senior players who left didn't contribute anything either - Moise Kean and Townsend.
financially we are better off (still in the shit but we are def better off than last year)
Add to this Danjuma and we are def not worse off, you could argue we are better off both in terms of personnel and finances. That doesn't mean we don't need to strengthen.

This comes from the perspective of someone who has followed mostly  American sports for 30 years but..
The best coaches/managers, in my opinion, adapt to their talent. Yes, they have philosophies they want to impart but they do not fit square pegs into round holes. If you can’t get production out of good talent because it doesn’t fit the system you most prefer how good are you really?

Mina played part in a minuscule part for me, as did Simms.
I also think we should 100% expect more from DCL.
Coady made a decent impact, but I doubt we’ll miss him much.
Gordon fell rapidly off a cliff, not just dipped in performances, but totally downed tools.
I get what your saying, but I do also disagree.

For me, we are stronger now than when we finished. Not saying I’m right, just that’s how I see it.
    I am right though.

Also, thrilled that he seems to truly be able to play across the front three, which is huge for us. We know we'll be shorthanded at points this year so bringing in players who have some positional flexibility is incredibly important.

The loan enables us to spend elsewhere it's an ideal situation and if he doesn't cut it we don't sign him.

There will be fans against this…. I’m not arsed. Lampard was getting sacked, we let him leave without signing a form.   It’s on us - tin pot.
If he applies himself then great.

AlbanyNYToffee reacted to Matt Tiger in Wilfried Gnonto
In fairness the difference between Gnoto last year and Gnoto now with a year of premier league matches and training under his belt is massive. Paying just 4m but committing to giving him match time to develop him is absolutely going to increase the risk of relegation as regardless of how promising young kids are they very rarely actually contribute to winning football in their first spell in a top league.

so sure, it’s not great business to pay 15m more for Gnoto now. That said, I also don’t think it’s madness to allow another club to take on the burden of bringing him through his first year of prem league football and then nabbing him when we’re confident that he’s ready.

Hopefully as many fans as possible, from wherever in the world, get to visit Goodison before we leave; it's a special place.

Our squad is that thin that we've brought players back on that we subbed off earlier .
God knows how we'll cope when we're playing two friendlies at once and splitting the squad.

Josh has it fine on his computer, probably because he started it up half an hour before ko; demand rises, poorly prepared site crashes. Who knew that was a thing?
